8 hours is kinda ok for this part of world...but 12h is really too much. I mean, railway is really bad, especially part from Sofia, to Serbian city Nis. After Nis, it's faster but there are always problem with trains interseptions, etc...Anyway, you're welcome in Serbia any time. Cheers from Belgrade.
The EXACT same thing happened to me on the EXACT same train. It was December and -10 outside, but there was NO heat the entire trip. We had to put on everypiece of clothing we had to try to stay warm. The train left over 3 hours late and stopped for an hour in the mountains for an undisclosed reason. The bathrooms were COVERED in shit- so much that you couldn't even walk in the door. And the border guards were the scariest I've ever seen. It was the most miserable and uncomfortable train ride.

no way! i can remember you, i was the same time in a hostel in belgrade, the hostel girl called dora. the last day you leave we were at some kind of beach in belgrade.
