i love this song also...am dancing here lol...cool.. superb to chill out thank you bruce for sharing this to me...ich liebe dich buddy! my best buddy evaH....keep sharing your music to me pls..i appreciate it very much...cheers Bruce xx
A highly unappreciated song from a highly unappreciated album, "Last Mango. " I see the late 80's as a kind of lost years from Jimmy's music. People do not seem to remember this music and Jimmy does not play too many of the songs from this perdiod at his concerts with a couple of exceptions. While I love his 70's tunes the best there are some real keepers written during this period and this song is one.
amen. i remember hearing this song on the radio in 85, along with sunset grill from a solo don henley, and i want my mtv . i liked whos the blonde stranger when i heard it in concert, but he never put it on any of the live albums.
"I've had good days and bad days and going half mad days"....only Jimmie could write that lyric. I was at that concert at the Miamarena on a boat in Biscayne Bay. Weird times...glad the DEA agents kept a low profile....fun to relive that night thanks to your posts...much appreciated
i always liked this song but he never plays it in concert, even though it got more airplay than a lot of his other songs. also, he seems to have ignored "whos the blonde stranger." i dont even like "fins" but he always plays that. i totally never knew timothy schmidt toured with him, let alone coined parrotheads. boy, with youtube and wkipedia, ive learned more than you could get from reading every past issue of rolling stone, even if they hadnt turned it into "rolling rapper ass kisser"
Big Parrothead myself. I love everything about this guy, and his love for adventure with planes and boats influenced my decision to start flying. Gotta say Jamaica Mistaica's my favorite though, but like you, I love em all. I'm sure you have made it to Key West if you have been a fan since the 70's. Ahhhhh, how I just wish I could get on a boat there in the keys while tossin back the buffalo shrimp and Landsharks while takin in a stogie there at Schooner's Wharf.
Read the article about the Eagles in Rolling Stone from last fall, and you'll see that Timothy had that exact quote about whoring himself out after the Eagles broke up. I was kinda pissed about that comment because I think he did some great work for Buffett and Fogelberg, among others. As most people know, it was Timothy who coined the term "parrotheads".
gee, seems like poco had a real talented picker named timothy b. schmidt, pre-eagles! do you supose they could be related? i kid. sings like a spirit, check 'seven bridges road'
Timothy B. Schmit never had to whore himself out after the Eagles sabbatical started. Actually he was very good friends with Jimmy and they were all managed by Irving Azoff This was the best gig around at the time and Irving suggested it was a good fit. Interesting how Timothy seems to enjoy his work so much here. I know, I was there that night in Miami, as I have been for the last 35 years. Jimmy is my Mississippi brother from another Mother...

One of the greatest tearjerkers of all time. Jimmy is such an underated and brilliant songwriter. He blows away Bob Dylan. There, I said it.

In my opinion, it kind of ruins the song when he says something uplifting for a sad song. It should be portrayed in the mood that it gives off.
