i have that same problem but its seems to only be when im playing the game not sure if it scratches it or not and if it does then they are minor did u find a fix or at least find out what is causing it?

mine does this too..its because the disk doesnt sit right when the xbox is upright..only prob for me is my xbox wont connect to the internet horizontal so i have to deal with the buzzing

Yes. Look very closely at it. You will see that it is a piece of crap that eats up your games. Get a PS3. It can't scratch up your games. And plus, even if you did put your blu ray disc through that torture with the xbox, it would still play. Blu rays have more layers

Its the internal fan, which left uncorrected with result in RROD by means of over heating. I suggest replacing the internal fan with a Talismoon Whipser. They are very quiet, much more cooling power, and you will not need a Nyko Intercooler attatched to the back of the console. It has nothing to do with it being vertical or horizontal. The dvd drives are meant to work in any direction. Good luck man.

That scratching noise means that you should put more game disks in there.

Try turning your x-box so its sitting on its side. I had the same problem and we turned and it stopped making the noise.

I have same problem it just started happening to me a week ago. at first it let me play my disks but now 80% of the time i get an error cant read disk so im going to try and send it in for repairs. It has something to do with your disk drive it messed up. try not playing it cuz it might screw up your disks.
