Wild piece of history. I was just driving by the old church yesterday. I work in that area restoring the older homes surrounding the old church were the peoples temple was born. Its an ominous feeling just looking at that building, seems so small, kind of crammed into a normal housing block, very close to the houses, with no parking and very little yard. You step off the sidewalk and right into the door. Still has the old doors and windows.
@AmericanFirePower396 That is wild. Here is a bit of wild history too: my father was a Christian church Disciples pastor who shook Jones's hand and thought him a "great man". He blamed California for his later madness. I don't. He was going crazy already. Is the People's Temple still a church or is it abandoned? I would like to see it some day. Thanks for sharing that....
@opensourcebuddhism In the documentary jonestone massacre there is a part of the video that shows jones in a striped short sleeved shirt. Behind him you can seen the very bottom of a window seal at the very top of the image, and a chip in the siding about 2 inches long and 1 inches tall. That chip is still there, and you can tell exactly where he was standing in that picture. I agree, I think he became hooked on prescription drugs here in Indy, had access to stronger drugs in Cali
@opensourcebuddhism and really topped out on drug strength once in Guyana, most likely having access to very pure opium, heroin and other forms of pure jungle born drugs. He progressively lost his mind. I would like to do a complete documentary on the peoples temple, tracking down the very barn were jones killed the cats, birds and animals as reported by his neighbors he grew up with. Lynn indiana is still very much there, and i know of barns much older still standing, its bound to be there.
In Psychology there's a thing called power of social situation and People's Temple member underestimate it! resulting for them to have this false security that's why some of them drink the poison according to their will!

Correction... largest mass murder to take place was the Twin Tower attacks. This was the largest mass suicide.

OMG people are crazy! How did so many people actually get convinced to commit suicide?
leah97462 1 year ago
@leah97462 they weren't really convinced. They were actually forced to drink it. Do you see now what drugs do to a persons mind? They do this crap.
