@bigwaverider1000 actually technically a herd of cape buffalo like that ups in the numbers of two to three hundred, that was maybe i counted 20 or 30, a small herd if you ask me, and there were only about 7 or so males there standing up to the lions, if that was a full herd i dont think the lions would have stuck around.....

Now if a Spanish bull where to face a lion than the bull would destroy it, those bulls are fearless and wont back down like many buffaloes.
The buffaloes should've just surrounded and gored the lions, it would have been over in seconds. It's not like they care about killing the lions since buffaloes are supposed to be very aggressive.
Its a matter of time, when most herds will have this sense of unity against predators like lions.,hell some buffalo herds on Duba plains have already began to evolve this sense/thought process and herds there are getting so intelligent that lions have to work for hours on end for a kill but lots of the time, lions end up losing a member of the pride.

I always wanted to go on a African Safari's, an old college buddy of mine works in one and invited me over. But after watching that Tiger leap on top of an Elephant with such ease I was shitting bricks. If they're hungry and desperate for food there is nothing these game keepers can do. @fitzrapid I was amazed that the trucks were open but then I realized that they are not really. The people are in the roof of the truck. A big cat could jump in there but it's not likely and they sure have some guns with them. An elephant or many bulls could turn the truck down, but they start the engine if it comes near. If the engine fails...
That's Smart!! All lion prides should do the same strategy by KILLING THE BUFFALO PREY FIRST before the herd even finds out that one of their comrades screams for help because, if an adult or baby buffalo's still alive, the pride could lose that meal as it could just stagger off or limp away back to its own herd leaving the pride hungry tonight.

I've seen on a few Wild Life shows Lions climbing up a tree with ease and leopard with a prey 2x its body weight shoot up a tree like spiderman. Just imagine if your truck breaks down, your radio doesn't work and it gets dark....anyone seen that vid where a Tiger leapt on top of an Elephant in India and tried to snatch the driver? when they're really hungry, the inside of that 4x4 will look like a free buffet at Mcd's

Seeing some of the huge prey in Africa, like Buffalo, Hippos, Rhinos and Elephants, you have to wonder why Lions are so small, and not large like Siberian Tigers. Siberian Tiger would have no problem preying on these buffalo, instead them being a big struggle. With abundant large prey, it's odd Lions aren't bigger.

The average Bengal and Siberian Tiger are much larger than a lion. Male Lions are around 400 pounds. A small Bengal Tiger male is 500 pounds, Siberians get well over 600 pounds.
Lions are obviously best suited for Africa, but then, there are no lions in Russia, upper China or most of Asia where Tigers are. So, they are each suited for different environments, like most animals.

That was fantastic! You pay a lot of money to go on a safari drive and you can spend the entire day tracking an animal's tracks and never catch up to them. To be able to be in the right place at the right time is awesome. There is no hunting on the game reserves and you can only have 2-3 vehicles near the animals at a time. You also can't step in to try to save an animal because it is the food source for another animal. They keep it as it should be. Great Camera Work!!!

I always wanted to go on a African Safari's, an old college buddy of mine works in one and invited me over. But after watching that Tiger leap on top of an Elephant with such ease I was shitting bricks. If they're hungry and desperate for food there is nothing these game keepers can do. I'm sure they have procedures to avoid such a situation but nothing imo is full proof. You just don't want to be that first accidental death to make the news...."Tourists eaten in open truck"

@fitzrapid I was amazed that the trucks were open but then I realized that they are not really. The people are in the roof of the truck. A big cat could jump in there but it's not likely and they sure have some guns with them. An elephant or many bulls could turn the truck down, but they start the engine if it comes near. If the engine fails...

All lion prides should do the same strategy by KILLING THE BUFFALO PREY FIRST before the herd even finds out that one of their comrades screams for help because, if an adult or baby buffalo's still alive, the pride could lose that meal as it could just stagger off or limp away back to its own herd leaving the pride hungry tonight.

Does anyone know if a predator has leaped into one of these open-top 4X4s? I've seen on a few Wild Life shows Lions climbing up a tree with ease and leopard with a prey 2x its body weight shoot up a tree like spiderman. Just imagine if your truck breaks down, your radio doesn't work and it gets dark....anyone seen that vid where a Tiger leapt on top of an Elephant in India and tried to snatch the driver? when they're really hungry, the inside of that 4x4 will look like a free buffet at Mcd's

@mo389 A couple monkeys wouldn't be observing the lions from the ground, ten feet from them. The lions would eat the monkeys. The reason they aren't harming the humans, is probably because they know better and they fear humans. This is an abuse of that fear. They're probably strapping guns and have probably fired at or near them in the past.
Also, they are distracting the lions many times in this vid. Just pisses me off to see such disrespectful tourists. They're just being idiots.

To the guy thats talking about male lions like he knows a lot about it : pride male lions are lazy and sleeping 20 hours a day, nomadic lions are very active tho but it all depends on the situation. Nomadic lions mostly just move from spot to spot till they run out of prey or a strong lion pride forces them to move away.

Seeing some of the huge prey in Africa, like Buffalo, Hippos, Rhinos and Elephants, you have to wonder why Lions are so small, and not large like Siberian Tigers. Siberian Tiger would have no problem preying on these buffalo, instead them being a big struggle. With abundant large prey, it's odd Lions aren't bigger.

@TA152H01 The average tiger is way smaller than a male lion and siberian tiger has a far higher percentage bodyfat. the reasons why there are no tigers in africa is because they can't compete with lions. Lions however were once nearly all over the world until the were hunted to extinction.

The average Bengal and Siberian Tiger are much larger than a lion. Male Lions are around 400 pounds. A small Bengal Tiger male is 500 pounds, Siberians get well over 600 pounds.
Lions are obviously best suited for Africa, but then, there are no lions in Russia, upper China or most of Asia where Tigers are. So, they are each suited for different environments, like most animals.

A Javan tiger could weigh as low as 75 kilo and would probably get pwn by a big leopard. Lons used to rule Europe and some areas in Asia where there isn't much jungle. There was also the american lions which are now extincts.

The thing that surprises me is that Tigers are larger at all. I guess they need to be because they don't work in packs. But, considering the size of some of the prey in Africa, being bigger would make this prey much easier for lions.

A male lion can't match a male Bengal Tiger, but that's not really the point. The work in prides, and I don't understand how Tigers destroyed them either. It makes no sense. A pride of lions should have no problem with tigers, since they're solitary. But, it is what it is. It happened whether I, or you, understand it or not.

Tigers would steal lion kills too. Single Tiger going up against a single Lion, the Lion will leave. Females will probably leave too. A couple of lions will chase off a Tiger though. You'd have some of both.
Tiger stripes wouldn't work in Africa though.

Tigers are simply bigger than lions. They don't look bigger, they are. Probably because they can't depend on help from another tiger, whereas lions don't have to be huge because they normally have help.
With all the huge prey in Africa, it's still surprising lions aren't the bigger cat. I guess numbers make it unnecessary.

AND ITS WORKING. tigers are able to hunt in safari as well as jungle. in african safari a couple of their tigers introduced killed SEVENTEEN animals in one day, just bc they ENJOYED the hunt. they have a whole documentary on it.. they have 1000s of acres of space where the tigers are free to roam. LIONS are meat if tigers reach them, EVER.

That was fantastic! You pay a lot of money to go on a safari drive and you can spend the entire day tracking an animal's tracks and never catch up to them. To be able to be in the right place at the right time is awesome. There is no hunting on the game reserves and you can only have 2-3 vehicles near the animals at a time. You also can't step in to try to save an animal because it is the food source for another animal. They keep it as it should be. Great Camera Work!!!
