I went through the exact thing. My entire life has been bizarre - my actions anyways. I always wondered why I was like this. Then about 4 months ago I tried to kill myself and ended up in the care of Mental Health for about 3 weeks. They realized within a few days that I have had an Anxiety Disorder my whole life. They described my feelings exactly. I had NEVER in my life ever experienced that. They knew me and that was SUCH a relief. To know what what wrong just made me cry from it.
