I am thinking of taking a CST course at a college here in California. My wife's friend is a CST and she makes $24 per hour. I think she started at $21 per hour...not bad at all. What's cool about this job is that you can be part of healthcare but it's done behind the scenes--so to speak.

It pays well in the U.S depending on were you live it can be up to $48,000 per year,but can be as low as $29,000 some places, I work in the field in Chicago and I make about $32,000, the field is a big gamble salary wise.

@jjurack Did you take a class in central service down in Prairie State (Clearance Daly)? I'll be done with the course and hopefully pass in the next couple weeks. I'm also in the Chicago land area, do you mind which hospital you work for? Thanks hope to be in your position soon.

Yes and it also depends on the hospital. My mom made only $12 an hour in one hospital, and then she found a job for $20 an hour.

I did this job, sterile services technician and autoclave attendant, wash room etc, for 9 years. Was ok job, but doesn't pay that well in uk, and is not a job that come up very often either.

(9 years of life gone then!)
