I am a white American and I am voting for Barack Obama. Obama brings up a simple but excellent point that most Americans seem to miss: Bush and Mccain took the focus off of the people responsible for the terrorist attacks and led us into an unneccessary and wasteful war.
Regardless of whether people are republicans or democrats, it is clear that Obama's campaign for war on terror is stronger than that of Mccains.
Obama is the best candidate for president for the year 2008.

funkylizard is correct about the bases, but a vote for Barr is pissing against the wind. Obama is a very good man and we are fools if we miss our chance to make him the most powerful person in our world. Aloha, Dr Char Lee
Foreign Policy is about the only position of Barack Obama's that I can agree with somewhat. Unfortunately, he has no intention of bringing troops home from Germany (57,000 there) South Korea (33,000 there) Japan (26,000) or Saudi Arabia (the base there is seen as an insult by many Muslims and was listed as one of Bin Laden's reasons for attacking) Spreading ourself thin like this prevents us from responding to an attack on the US. I will vote, but not for Barack/McCain. Bob Barr 08.
Under Saddam: No alien invader insulting culture/faith Water, electricity, sanitation worked Most (not Kurds/Marsh Arabs/dissenters) led safe, happy lives Christians/Jews prospered Still had national treasures/buildings/museums Women had full rights/freedoms; no compulsory veil Secular (non-religious) Govt Almost no sectarian violence No fear of snipers/curfews/bombs/kidnap Unemployment low Good education for both sexes Non-natural death rate 3-4 times lower 75+% of Iraqis hate US more than SADDAM
MLK said his dream was that his kids not be judged on the color of their skin but on the content of their character. It sure is a shame the most of the Americans that happen to be black are going to vote for Obama not on the content of his character but on the color of his skin.
Are you Black? How do you know what we are thinking. Record shows we have voted faithfully for the Democratic party since the 1960's. Unlike White Americans who would go against the ideology Democratic party just because the man is Black. Some of you all are Freaking stupid.
The depth of Obama's knowledge/Wisdom on Foreign Policy,Economy and education to mention a few quite impeccable.Mccain stand no chance against this guy.

If people vote for you expecting change and get the same old shit repackaged we will be pissed. Lets unrap the package and see what we are desciding about.
wow, come on Obama get your facts straight Guantanamo Bay is not that bad, the US has done things like that since the start of our nation and there's not 150,000 troops in Iraq. Iraq is stupid and could Obama actually look at the camera instead of looking at random places. And how can Obama not want war and want to rid the Middle East of terrorists? We have been in Afganistan for over 7 yrs and not found Osama, who if found would just be replaced as he represents more of an idea than anything
He's talking to the people assembled. you want him to smile and wink at the camera for you? He's right about Guantanamo. What results have imprisonments there brought? Any person with an ounce of sense doesn't want more war. Sounds like your all for it. Their will always be terorists. We should just spend the money on defense of our borders/country and let the Middle East deal with their own problems their own way
US OUT OF IRAQ NOW!!! Our country is quickly becoming bankrupt, and we are just THROWING money at this pointless occupation........we need to withdraw our troops NOW!
On June 5, 2008 the majority in the Democratic congress passed a budget that will impose the largest tax increase in American History. Increases: a family of four increase by $3,000.00, elderly increase over $2,000.00, Single parent with two or more children increase by 1,600.00. Vote McCain 08
The Bush/McCain strategy is about funneling as much money as possible to their cronies in the defense industry. The 'war on terror' is just an open-ended catch all justification for doing whatever they want to do. The proof of that is their indifference to Afghanistan, the real front-line on this war. We need to disconnect from the canard that Republicans "know better" how to secure this country, this great democracy.
Our enemy was in Afghanistan, and by going there we (with the helop of Iran) we were making real progress, and had driven out the Taliban. Then we attaqched Iraq, wwhy I still don't know, and forgot about Afghanistan. The result is the Taliban is back, Al Quaeda is back and has become strong in Iraq. Because of the war in Iraq, we have a mess in Afghanhistan and Iraq, and Iran is our enemy. My scare is Bush will start a war in Iran before leaving office, Obama is our only hope
iraq is a hotbed of people we have pissed off and screwed over. taliban are formally trained soldiers, al-quaida is iraq's equivelant to bloods and crypts. who do you think poses a more credible threat?
greycloud24, the talibans are equivelant to bloods and crypts in afganistan. Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11, talibans, Al-quaida,m Bin laden whatsoever. Thats just some Bush talk, otherwise you are 100% correct.
brntobme: If you hear no difference, then that is your problem. Obama isn't liberal enough for me, but he's completely different from the Bush regime. I will vote for him happily, and I am not the least bit worried about the results.
And I am looking forward to telling people like you "I told you so" when things improve despite you.
What I don'tunderstand is why all these people who bindly supported the Iraq war aren't know so upset that they were mislead - it is like the most important issue for them is don't raise my taxes - so we cut more education, vote against veterans benefits, cut funding for education, do bandaid repairs or jsut igrnore National disasters, blame illegal immigrants for the problem but not those who employ them
I would like to see his "comprehensive counter strategy" Politicians now days always say that... this is alot of Geopolitical Statements lots of infused short facts and and opinions brilliant done as a politicians. this should convince alot of people who knows minimal of geopolitics in the middle east.
You guys are sooooo blind. As a independent I can honestly say I hear no difference of rhetoric coming from Obama's mouth and Bush/Cheney/Mccain's mouth when it comes to the "War on Terrorism". I can't wait till he is president so all you millions of brain washed neocons will get what is coming to you. Obama is a pro war president plain and simple. Just watch his speech at AIPAC. Iran and Pakistan is on his list.
It does sound like he wants to do something about the atrocity that USA is commiting by letting Quantanamo be.
It sounds like he actually wants to catch the insano Bin Laden so that the victims and their families can get some justice. Bush with support of McCain has had 6 years to do so without result.
It sounds like he actually have a clue on how to lessen the threat of terrorism.
To clarify a point, Bush and McCain support the idea that a person can be given the status of "enemy combatant", thereby having all of their rights taken away. To put this in simpler terms, think about the idea of innocent until proven guilty. While that is a right of every American as it is written in the Constitution, in my opinion, it is a right every human being should have. If Bush and McCain are so sure about the guilt of these prisoners, why not just try them and get it over with?
That says a lot about how America should vote if other countries in Europe and around the world want us vote for Obama! Obviously our foreign policy is not working under the Bush/McCain/Cheney Administration.
The Americans should adopt the Soviet policy of fighting in Afghanistan. Fight in the mountains where soldiers won't get any armor support. Fight on terrain where the American's superior mechanized infinatry turns into pure foot infantry. Fight on terrain where there is absolutly no resources to fund the war. Fight on terrain that has absolutly no effect on curbing the teleban instead of going after the governments that fund them.
The Avganistan war is a 'war' against American hating radicals, who fight the U.S. for messing with their country.
The Iraq war is Bush and aides making money.
OBAMA IS AMERICAS ONLY TICKET AT THE PRESENT MOMENT, THAT COULD PROBABLY DO SOMETHING MORE REASONABLE AND FAR SIGHTED, THAN WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN THE LAST 8-12 YEARS.
I would like to see some discussion of the moral failings that led the US to invade Iraq. I would like to see some mention of the around 1 million people that have been killed as a result of the illegal US invasion and occupation.
Before then it didn't happen till Franklin Roosevelt time. It happens VERY rarely and besides McCain is a damn weak candidate, just look at his speech compared to Obama's the day he got the nomination.
I'm not too worried, Obama will easily win by a landslide, when Republican supporter kingpin Rupert Murdock admited so.
Obama will be the president. There is no way McCain can possibly win aside from a massive catastrophe befalling the Obama camp. Look at presidential history, the last time a member of the same political party, Democrat or Republican retained the White House after serving their full TWO terms limit was Regan back in 1989.
This doesn't have anything to do with the subject of the video and some people may have already pointed this out but I just took a look at the number of subscribers for Obama and McCain: McCain-5,756 Obama-57,313.
A better world is necessarily linked with fresh economic development and new opportunities. Thus we need a new strategy, which must inarguably be built on sustainable development. It is impossible to have lasting economic growth and development if there is no investment in the construction of a sustainable economic model. War is a huge obstacle to progress and to maintain sustainable economic development. Vote for Barak Obama! He can make the best leader.
This man is so eloquent and intelligent in his speech. He knows what he's talking about. He delivers speeches the old fashioned way, and that is to be admired.
McCain is incompetant and old. He's also mean and short tempered.
damn Obama rules. he just put the smack down, firmly yet politely, on the mccain machine. defend the constitution of this great nation, the USA! elect Obama!
The power and winning support by all present is why we are willing the White House. It's about the people running the government and not the other way round. Obama will fight McCain with one weapon McCain doesn't have. THE TRUTH!
WOW! Such an amazing speech - hit the nail on the head!
We do need to focus on development aid rather than military aid. This man is truly looking out for the interests of the American people and global stability.
Hey, impeach Bush, no! Let's not go there! There's only 6 months left. We want Dems 2 win w/out repeat 2000! There's nothing 2 pardon, Congress gave him go ahead 2 use force! You have 2 accept that! Obama will make great Commander-in-Chief & fix war mess. If Bush can end it b4 he leaves, then he can save face, but I don't think he knows what todo! Let's all look toward that blue horizon, we'll be safe under that big umbrella w/Obama leading way! He will be great President; the world is waiting!
for the anti-war folks, be wary of Obama. He has voted for all of Bush's war funding requests since coming to the Senate. Obama may give good rhetoric, but he will not stop the military industrial complex, which is much more powerful than any single politician.
mgmd001, I invite you to please research the facts more closely. Yes, as a senator, Barack Obama has voted in support of Bush's war funding requests. Why? Our troops were thrown out there with insufficient weapons and supplies. Those votes in no way refute the fact; out of the many Democrats and Republicans who ran in the primaries, Barack was the only one who opposed the war before it even began. His 2002 anti-war speeches/interviews are available on-line.
Obama believes(just like I do) that if you already have troops in a danger(war zone), then give them all the money and support they need to be as safe as possible. Yo forget that some of that money is for veterans and the GI Bill
OMG were gonna get him!!!! we are going to get this man to be our president for the next 8 years.!!!!! Roll up your sleeves brothers and sisters. We have work to do...keiran
I very much support Obama, and don't honestly see and honest way in which he will lose the election. I also must say hearing his speeches can inspire, bring new people into the political system, and like this speech, remind me what a leader should sound like, which is so refreshing and long sought after the last several years.
"they that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve Neither Liberty nor Safety- by Benjamin Franklin" "observe good faith and justice towards all nations, cultivate Peace and Harmony with All" -said by our first Great President of the United States George Washington. barack obama 2008 for President
the bin-laden family was flown out of florida on the day of 9/11,translated the current administration does not want to catch osama bin laden(rich oil billionaires)meanwhile barack obama has said all along lets focus our troops and fight to afganistan,we must not throw away the constitution just for a few securities.Bush has violated the Geneva covention, john mcCain is on a sinking ship with george bush America never trade the constitution for a few security and safety
Finally, America might get a president who actually knows the facts. I can't vote, because I'm Canadian, but if i could, i would. Please vote, America.
ok so we pull out of iraq responsibly, we still need to catch these terrorist cells. country's can be evil, but they still have some accountability. factions inside of countries are ruthless bc they don't have to account to anyone. not their govt, their culture, their families. we need to stop them and that is where Obama will win.
I am ready Barack for the 0.5 mile sprint to my polling center on November 4, cross-training shoes and all. Wipe the floor with Bush and his minion McCain. Keep speaking the truth Mr. President. Obama 2008!!
Amen, Mr. President. I love the hint of anger in his voice. He gets that Americans are pissed off about this, and have had enough. Keep on going, Barack.
Lead yourselves and just stop annoying the rest of the world. Your quaint "manifest destiny" is amusing but that's all. Over 2 million prisoners and 50% of your budget spent on weapons, just how many nukes do you want? The US needs to try to civilise itself and implement basic human rights before it'll be fit to have a voice in the UN, it'll never lead because it's dropped so far behind the civilised world. Stop teaching creationism and listening to ann coulter and start arresting the KKK.
how in the world is McCain's foreign policy rating higher than Obama? Obama seems more trustworthy even in this area than what McCain is so wrongly praised for.
Is Obama going to speak out against the Telecom Immunity provision hidden in the FISA compromise? He's said publically he's against this, so he needs to lead on this issue.
He needs to lead, and stop Hoyers and others from a bill that disgraces our constitution and makes sure that there's no investigation into warrantless surveillance.
If we give him a chance he may go down as one of the best presidents in american history. Men like this don't come along to often and when they do for some reason they get taken away from us far to early. This man has excellent leadership skills but more importantly he seems like a man that will follow the CONSTITUTION!
The Talk about short coast drilling Oil is another Gimmick impulse by the Oil Companies....They are using this particular moment to push this agenda ..this is not gonna make gas oil prices down!!!!!
This only is gonna make more rich to this Companies & they're looking support in the Republican Politicians to make this happen because they Know if Barack Obama win they don't gonna have more opportunities to make this project Happen!!!!
IMHO Albright was a very bad idea, she's totally immoral, basically a war criminal, she said "We Think the Price Is Worth It"
about the 1995 U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report that 567000 Iraqi children under the age of five had died as a result of the sanctions.
we can't just leave Iraq now, if we leave after blowing the shit out of their country, and not helping rebuild it at all, don't you think that they will hate us forever, make even more enemies there, I don't want money waisted there but if we just leave then that might just make it worse
No one talking about not helping rebuild IRAQ. We need to beginning withdrawing our troops. Right now the solveren IRAQ government are not securing there own country with their own troops and they are not spending any of their oil money to pay for some (part) of the rebuilding cost or any of the cost to defend their own country. As long as we keep giving them a blank check the IRAQ government will not stand own their own two feet.
yeah so let's stay for a few more years. 4000 troops have died since we've been there...why not let a few more thousand die at the rate of staying there a few more years :(
I agree to a point. The Iraqi peeple will need aid. Not military support. They too have their own resources sitting in our banks earning a profit. (Oil profits) We need out of Iraq. We need to get rid of the billion dollar no bid contracts to KBR. This help will come when Obama is president, but smartly.
They have a Gov't. The Gov't of Iraq wants us there to babysit them while they debate stupid religious differences. They are there because we are, they want to fight. Now the taliban is reforming in Afghanistan because we dropped the ball. We need to regroup. We need to actually fight a war on terror and not a war on Iraq. A war on terror would be more intelligence over force. It's all complicated, but, staying in Iraq and babysitting is not helping.
Let me tell you something finchisgod, they will ALWAYS hate us over there in the Middle East along with a lot of other countries around the globe. This great country of ours is not perfect and not everyone will always like us. For every Saddam, Bin Laden, or Hitler, there's just another guy waiting to take his place. That's the history of mankind and will be the death of us. War, war, and more war; it's what we like to do.
The Bush administration should have never sent our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters over there to fight an unnecessary war. 54% of the Iraqi people -who have been killed by American military - are children! Then, thousands of our soldiers have been killed and maimed! It's an absolute disgrace; I hope that we get out right away. The government needs to stop spending $10 billion of our money per month in Iraq. Our economy is declining, and we must use that money here.
Finchisgod: Apparently, Iraq's foreign minister is just fine with that. The old saying "Quit while we're ahead" applies here, we should begin our withdrawal plans.
Thank God for Barack Obama he knows foreigh policy and hes absolutely right about our military force being dangerously overstretched.
All thanks to two idiot and their campaigns George W. Bush and John McCain.
good job on mackeing the world a better place guys best presidents America has ever had...NOT!!!

Too bad Obama will just move them from Iraq to afghanistan, iran, and pakistan
audioX1 3 years ago
Our enemy was in Afghanistan, and by going there we (with the helop of Iran) we were making real progress, and had driven out the Taliban. Then we attaqched Iraq, wwhy I still don't know, and forgot about Afghanistan. The result is the Taliban is back, Al Quaeda is back and has become strong in Iraq. Because of the war in Iraq, we have a mess in Afghanhistan and Iraq, and Iran is our enemy. My scare is Bush will start a war in Iran before leaving office, Obama is our only hope

greycloud24 3 years ago
greycloud24, the talibans are equivelant to bloods and crypts in afganistan. Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11, talibans, Al-quaida,m Bin laden whatsoever. Thats just some Bush talk, otherwise you are 100% correct.

Obama does sound like the better man in my ears.

The Americans should adopt the Soviet policy of fighting in Afghanistan. Fight in the mountains where soldiers won't get any armor support. Fight on terrain where the American's superior mechanized infinatry turns into pure foot infantry. Fight on terrain where there is absolutly no resources to fund the war. Fight on terrain that has absolutly no effect on curbing the teleban instead of going after the governments that fund them.

I'm not too worried, Obama will easily win by a landslide, when Republican supporter kingpin Rupert Murdock admited so.
FreedomLiberty21 3 years ago
Obama will be the president. There is no way McCain can possibly win aside from a massive catastrophe befalling the Obama camp. Look at presidential history, the last time a member of the same political party, Democrat or Republican retained the White House after serving their full TWO terms limit was Regan back in 1989.

Barack Obama: Leader For Better World.
He can make the best leader.

for the anti-war folks, be wary of Obama. He has voted for all of Bush's war funding requests since coming to the Senate. Obama may give good rhetoric, but he will not stop the military industrial complex, which is much more powerful than any single politician.
mgmd001 3 years ago
mgmd001, I invite you to please research the facts more closely. His 2002 anti-war speeches/interviews are available on-line.

finchisgod 3 years ago
No one talking about not helping rebuild IRAQ. We need to beginning withdrawing our troops. Right now the solveren IRAQ government are not securing there own country with their own troops and they are not spending any of their oil money to pay for some (part) of the rebuilding cost or any of the cost to defend their own country. Unprovoked Iraq invasion has NO BENEFIT for Americans.
Iraq has ONLY COSTS for Americans.
Babylonians have been building their civilizations when Europeans were mere cave men.
Point?
Iraqis have long history of building their own nation
All USA needs do is provide security for the oil fields; so that Iraqis can have oil revenue to build their own country.
And give the Iranians & Syrians a CLEAR choice of PEACE or WAR with the USA
You, Bush & McCain, who destroyed it, should re-build Iraq. lol

I agree to a point. The Iraqi peeple will need aid. Not military support. They too have their own resources sitting in our banks earning a profit. (Oil profits) We need out of Iraq. We need to get rid of the billion dollar no bid contracts to KBR. This help will come when Obama is president, but smartly.
ruffus910 3 years ago
They have a Gov't. The Gov't of Iraq wants us there to babysit them while they debate stupid religious differences. They are there because we are, they want to fight. Now the taliban is reforming in Afghanistan because we dropped the ball. We need to regroup. We need to actually fight a war on terror and not a war on Iraq. A war on terror would be more intelligence over force. It's all complicated, but, staying in Iraq and babysitting is not helping.
Mel1334 3 years ago
Let me tell you something finchisgod, they will ALWAYS hate us over there in the Middle East along with a lot of other countries around the globe. This great country of ours is not perfect and not everyone will always like us. For every Saddam, Bin Laden, or Hitler, there's just another guy waiting to take his place. That's the history of mankind and will be the death of us. War, war, and more war; it's what we like to do.
starkums 3 years ago
The Bush administration should have never sent our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters over there to fight an unnecessary war. 54% of the Iraqi people -who have been killed by American military - are children! Then, thousands of our soldiers have been killed and maimed! It's an absolute disgrace; I hope that we get out right away. The government needs to stop spending $10 billion of our money per month in Iraq. Our economy is declining, and we must use that money here.
proudworkingteacher 3 years ago 3
Finchisgod: Apparently, Iraq's foreign minister is just fine with that. The old saying "Quit while we're ahead" applies here, we should begin our withdrawal plans.
