saw SRV 3 times; first time @ 17, as a budding guitarist. Major influence on my playing. Speaking negative about him means you are self-loathing;most likely a poor player. Stevie did not reinvent, nor was he much of a song writer. For this; we look to Axis Bold as Love; Peter Green; Charlie Christian, etc. We love Stevie for his approach. Brute force; meticulous lead work and amazing attention to tone and dynamics. We look to him because hes a bad ass American guitar slinger who nailed it.
If you want to complain about a musician, that's your choice. But complainin' about Stevie is nuts. He's one of the best guitar players ever known, that a well known fact
@bernsboy3 Who the fuck would complain about this guy!?! He's a fucking god of the blues, His music stopped me from comitting suicide, I wouldn't be able to get through the day without this music, it's awesome, you're right, you're an idiot to slag off Stevie!
If you would know Stevie´s music you would know it´s more than 3 chord playing. Besides that, everybody (fortunatly) has a different taste. I listen to a lot of different styles of music, but sometimes even so-called ´íntellectual´ music can become boring, so what´s the problem? I think respect for other music even if you don´t like it is important, it´s so easy to complain. No hard feelings anyway.
I agree, there´s enough good music that doesn´t fit the concept. And we choose the music after who we are, right. I like so much different kinds of music, from punk-rock to cuban to classical, I sometimes wonder who I am.(not serious)And right, Stevie did have a great time and his fans still do, allmost 20 years after he died.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
how can a musician be satisfied with playing solo to 3 chords most of his life.
it´s fine listening to blueas for 10 minutes but after that you´ve heard about what is to expect.

well we choose style music after who we are.
we are what we consume.
i have wrtten music for 20 years and worked as a music teacher and I have the same opinion about countrymusic, hiphop and other styles.
I can listen to some really good tunes ,but after 10 minutes I pretty much get my bag filled.

but if you like it,it´s fine.
positive music allways have some good with it.
But as for myself i must admit that there are a lot of intresting musical ideas that are excluded becouse of that it does not fit in the "concept"..
and as people like recogniceable concepts music stays in the box.
But whatever I say i bet SRV had a nice time with the music and so did his fans.
