@derekdz 30HP? Really? The ones here in Cali are electric so I'm not sure how much difference that makes, but I was told that they only need about 5hp to run even some of the largest derricks. I've actually never seen a gas one like this. Big ol' single cylinder thing idling away stumbling along.
5HP? Interesting. Most applications require a 10HP for a 40 sized gearbox, 15HP for a 80 to 114 gearbox, 20HP for 160 to 228 gearbox, and so on. That's typical for my applications,
@redyoshi1985 Damn really? that is a very heavy thing.. but I have honestly see out here on the Kansas Prairie Tornadoes Yank them almost right out of the ground.. We get some strong ones sometimes.. well.. Not unlike the one that destroyed Greensburg in 2007, or Hoisington back in 2001 it lifted a tank battery and threw it into the hedge row over 4000 feet away.. Amazing power! Scary!

Correct, it does have a fence around it. I don't know why the video uploaded with such poor quality. I should try uploading some of these videos again and see if they improve.
@derekdz Got to keep the drip gasoline & water blown out of the volume tank during the winter or else the well will go down, bigest thing on the Ajax is keeping the force feed lubricator full of oil and properly ajusted for long engine life, the crank case is seperate from the cylinder and shouldn't need much attention unless you have a leaky crank seal or cross head packing , a quick glance at the sight guage is all it takes, these engines will nearly run forever if youv'e got a good pumper.
ok so you have the head but i dont see any lines comeing out so where does it pump too? and you have to put gas in this motor right? woulndt that be expensive to keep it running 24 7
@IRONMAIDENFAN2006 The lines are hidden. There are flowlines that run to the tank battery. The motor runs off the wells natural gas so it's pretty efficient.
So how much HP does that engine actually have, How much do those weights that turn weigh and how much does the top weight weigh?
redyoshi1985 3 months ago
@redyoshi1985
Around 30 horsepower. These weights are about 1,200 lbs a piece.

i know u need a fence around that unit though, not fun pulling out cows that get wrapped up around the weights.

luckily no cows in this pasture.

@derekdz youtube compression at its finest. But i can see that fence clear as day. Maybe he is on a phone or something?

Respond to this video... I do want to see a vid of a cow wrapped up in the weights though. That sounds disgusting.

No videos of cows.

You're running on just casing gas? Thats impressive, I don't think I have ever seen that before.
Momarr218 1 year ago
@Momarr218 All casing gas. These wells make quite a bit of gas.

It's amazing how slow you can run these single reduction gearboxes with an Ajax engine and no reducers.

Its hard to beat the sound of an Ajax! That looks like an 8 1\2 X 10???
