@naijagurl089 It is challenging to master the Igbo language since there are many different dialects and ways to say the same word. So, we are just building a vocabulary with help from our family network of inlaws and friends who come from various places in Igboland. The goal is to read, write & speak Igbo. Our son and daughter WILL know the basics to communicate. I feel confident until I hear someone speaking Igbo really fast, then I'm reminded of how much I DON'T know, LOL. Chukwu Gozie gi!
Oh I didn't know that. I'm not surprised though, there are way too many dialect in igbo language. I thought he said ite-ite which is really cute cause that's how my cousin says nine in igbo too. BTW: he did great, i was not disputing that. Anyway, iteani is Anambra; to be precise onitsha. I cannot write in igbo so i might have the spelling wrong but it's pronounced the way i wrote it.
Awesome, so apparently its itenani, I see its also used (or used to be) in some other places too like Nnewi. Others in Anambra also use iteghete.
Way too many dialects. My dad is from Anambra, momsie is from Abia. Momsie switches dialects depending on who she's talking to, I speak more Anambra/central, but with some borrowed words from momsie's dialect.
Some difficult Igbo dialects are Owerri, Abiriba/Ohafia, Item, even Arochukwu, cause they have words with Efik origins.
Oh cool. I tend to mix my dialect up too. According to my cousins, I speak Anambra dialect but I mix it up with Enugu and Abia dialect.
I agree Imo dialect especially in the owerri area is very difficult, Ikwerre is also difficult. A friend of mine is Ikwerre and I can understand half of what she's saying and other half I cannot.
LOL! As you know, Kelechi means "Thank God" in Igbo. The name is certainly fitting, as we are thankful that God has blessed our marriage with children.
You did it boy

I believe he said iteghete, which is also another way of saying 9 in Igbo. One can also say itolu
He did an amazing job!! I myself say iteghete for 9. Never heard iteani, what Igbo dialect is that.
