CRTs and Plasma emit UV radiation, and Plasmas generate quite a bit of IR radiation in addition to the visible spectrum... only when they are on, however.

I would be more concerned about lead exposure, though :)

Some time when EVERYTHING is broadcast in HD, then we will have a better quality on a flatscreen, but by now he truth is, everyone is swimming with the tide because the commercials say there screens are the future - and everyone believes it! Just watch it and compare, and think for yourself!!

older CRTs had high levels of lead and other chemicals in them the newer ones have consiterably less but you should still be verry cautious when you clean this up... and your lucky you didnt get shocked by the capacitor... its a component that holds a verry verry high charge for hours after use... still loved it tho..
