  • but how do the fumes get into the carb, if the hoses are not connected to the inside of the carb

  • @cuban571 The vacuum from the engine pulls them in.

  • hey quick question- the two black hoses that go from the airfilter of the carb to where do they go and what are they for.

  • @cuban571 PCV valves. Positive Crankcase Ventilator. It takes the fumes from the crank case and puts them into the Carb

  • @FriscoJarretts They arent real PCV valves right? There is no vaccume tube going to the manifold to collaps the spring in a PCV valve. These are hollow casings made for this application. Using an automotive PCV valve with the spring without being hooked up to a vaccume port will cause crankcase pressure. At leats thats how I understood it.

  • @LS6Z28

    I think you are right.

  • @FriscoJarretts I hope so, I am rebuilding the 260/350 on my wellcraft this winter and when I pulled the valve covers I was surprized to see hollow valves. It makes sence. I just didnt know if that was stock mercruiser or if the previous owner modified them because of excessive blowby. But the reading I did said that using a conventional spring loaded pcv wouldnt work. Thats actually what brought me to this vid. clean boat by the way

  • me an my cousin are currently rebuildin the same boat but its a 82 25th anniversery edition weve gotta completley redo the floor an the seats an were putn a 350 four bolt main bored over .030 with a 400 crank in it shes definitley gunna be a beast i just hope we can make it as beautiful as yours
