  • Anyone know how to get this to work on an HP Pavilion pc Windows 7? Compat Mode is dire, won't allow it.

  • The soundtrack is just epic...

  • You have to wonder why all that Somtaaw tech never made it into Homeworld 2 (never mind the fact that this game wasn't made by Sierra). You PASS on freaking ION-CANNON EQUIPPED SUPER-ACOLYTES!? What the hell!

  • I think it's a bit funny that although Cataclysm may not be canon, it surprisingly has the best cinematics, acting, and story-depth.

  • I've always thought this scene was the best out of the game but you know what would make this scene so much better is if Karen sjet came in with the huge fleet that you had in Homeworld with upgraded technology and tear through the Tiidani fleet O_O man if that happend i would just gape at the computer screen for about 10 minutes or so XD

  • I really like playing cataclysm, it's much better than WOTLK in wow. But I'm just wondering how you unlock this mode shown in the video, the one with the ships. They should also probably upgrade the graphics.

  • I LIKE THIS GAME I THINK IT'S COOL I HAD TO BUY IT FROM OVERSEAS COULD NOT FIND A COPY HEAR IN AUSTRALIA

  • @ngumath5 f**king wow players

  • is all of this between home world 1 and 2?

  • wow

  • Is this game for PC or??

  • Wonder how I can get my hands on this now.

  • @warriorfire8103 I bought it online

  • I so Love this game!

  • @luksdes i never played the cataclysm, but ive played the ones before

  • The armed ground soldier resembled a Tau.

  • wats so good about this than homewolrd 1

  • @soldjaboy321

I'm not 100% sure but I think Cataclysm is just an extension of HW1 ...with new missions and a slightly different interface. I don't think it's a totally new game, like HomeWorld 2 is ...I might be wrong though.

  • @MustNotRead Cataclysm is a separate game indeed, The graphics are improved, gameplay is more advanced, featuring things like pilot view (my favorite). The downside is that the only playable races are the Somtaaw and Beast - you can't play Kushan and Taiidani despite their ships being in the singleplayer game. However it was made by Barking Dog instead of Relic, so Homeworld 2, the subsequent game, made by Relic, doesn't tie it in at all. It's worth a play though.

  • I = hear this music in shows and movies some times.

  • the taiidan have a seperate planet for them selves and went on to conquer hiigara which lead the exiles to leave and go to karack-

  • Anyone know where I can get that epic song that plays during the Taiidan attack?

  • Send me your e-mail via PM and I'll send it to you. The soundtrack was never released separately, sadly.

  • Are you referring to the song played in the first game when The Hiigarans came back from the hyperspace test and found their home planet destroyed? In that case the song is called Adagio for strings by Samuel Barber. Epic scene from an epic game. I really wish they would make another sequel.

  • The one in Cataclysm where the Taidanii fighters are zooming around and its really epic.

I got hooked up with it already. :)

  • Okay, seriously dude, that screen is way too small.

  • @TheaeroAvatar

Well, there's arse all he can do, that's the size of the in game cut scene, even if you set the game res to 1920 plus, the black and white scenes stay that small.

    Personally, I like that.

  • Epic!

  • lol some of those Taiidani interceptors are kamikaziing into the Hiigaran Carrier

  • My only problem with Catacysm, is that we're to believe that less than 1 million Kushan are able to not only hold on to the planet of Hiigara, but also other parts of the galaxy.

Did the Kushan kick all the Taiidani off Hiigara? Seems like they'd need them as a labor force, because there's so few of them left.

  • Not all Taiidani were loyal to the Emperor, and in fact, had there not been a military coup and a subsequent civil war against the Emperor, the Kushan would have never succeeded in their mission to reclaim the Homeworld.

Also, the Hiigaran's (Kushan) have a one of the 3 hyperspace cores of Sajuuk, which allow them to travel much much farther through hyperspace than any race other than the Bentusi, and later the Vaygr in HW2. This allows them to quickly deploy forces over large distances.

  • Yeah I understand the Taiidani rebels (later the Republic) made up the bulk of the forces that combated the Empire, but I'm still confused whether or not they were allowed to stay on Hiigara; most of the games seem to imply only the descendants of Kushan leave there, but it never says what happened to the Taiidani either: did they all leave, did the non-Loyalists get to stay as citizens, did they become the labor force, were they killed?

  • My understanding is that the Taiidani Republic is centered on Hiigara and that they eventually become either citizens or subjects to the revitalized Hiigaran Empire later in HW2.

Since the Imperialists consider both the Kushan and the Taiidani Republic enemies, it would stand to reason that they both have just as much to lose should the Imperial Taiidani reclaim Hiigara.

With that said, they probably coexist on Hiigara at this time, and later meld into a single culture by the time of HW2.

  • Not really. Even this video states that the Taiidani Republic tries to hold the old territories together, whilst the Imperialist Taiidani lurk in the new "bandit kingdoms". It can be assumed from this statement that the Republic has asserted itself over the Taiidan homeworld as well as some of the colonies that were part of the old Taiidan Empire.

By the time of HW2, the Taiidan Republic were either too insignificant to be a threat and so ignored or were wiped out or assimilated by the Vaygr.

  • Well at the start of HW2, the Imperialists are indeed assimilated by the Vaygr, however the Taiidani Republic is never mentioned. The only other significant galactic government is the Hiigaran Empire, which during the time of Cataclysm, coexisted in peace with the Taiidan Republic. Its logical to assume they coexisted together on Hiigara, the Kushan and the citizens of Taiidani Republic, and over time melded into the Hiigaran Empire we see in HW2.

  • Skaarj Slayer it's specifcly stated in HW2 that the Tiidan republic joind the Higarns and were assimilated into them.

  • This eventully lead to the Higaran empire we see in HW2 by the way.

  • okay i played both Homeworld and this....but after watching this vid. i realized that i probably played them in the wrong order....in order to fully understand....this is after Homeworld right?

  • yeah, chronological order is homeworld, homeworld cataclysm and then homeworld 2.

  • and then there's the beast, if nothing else, everyone should band together to destroy them before they infect the entire galaxy.

  • you got a good green and black theme going on with you mother ship there i wouldeve chosen blu and yellow

  • some of the catacysm ships lok dull to me and i dont like the support but other wise its a great game

  • the Support was best part of the game. Caps suck. if i want my fleet all fighters i should be able to do that, meaning i will have more fighters than someone who builds fighters and caps.

But i agree with you on ship design.

  • I love the Imperialist Taiidan, if only for Cataclysm's opening battle sequence. :)

  • You do know that the Imperialists are bad. they would make you into slaves. lol

  • Good and bad are such relative terms.

  • Indeed my friend. indeed. at least we have the Reps to help us. hehehehe

  • Where can I get Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2 playthroughs? Tkx for the uploads

  • Not done them yet.

  • do you have a Estimated time of completion? Cause I really like the game but Im to stupid to beat and it and I want to see what happens in the story in the 1 then cataclysm then 2 :D

  • No.

I do these when I have time and when I can be bothered.

  • What recording software do you use to record the videos? Thanks.

  • Fraps

  • the first Homeworld i've ever played!! The whole series equals brilliance!!
