I met Gary many years ago when he conducted a boys choir in Yugoslavia...guess Hvar would now be in Croatia. His conducting was beautiful to watch. Would he remember those days sailing to Dubrovnic?

This is a beautiful video. I disike the negative comment about the conductor's technique. All good conductors are unique. How a conductor obtains his result is important and goes way beyond what one sees in performance. I can forgive him his trespasses as long as the results are wonderful as these are.

I couldn't agree more. I just had the experience of working with Mr. Graden and he is an exceptional choral conductor. Regardless of the argument of technique, he knows what he wants out of an ensemble and he knows how to get it.

you should meet him and have some conducting lessons, then you'd understand why he conducts that way.. believe me, it's amazing to see how the sounds is created from his hands, it's impossible to explain this magic until you can't watch him conducting in front of you :)

Yes! I know! I have been in front of him, singing. He's a really great guy, to sing with him is like to make some magic,as you said... He's gesture is just not pretty to me, but it works, so, it doesn't mean that he's not a great conductor, musician and human been... =)
