I really appreciate your video - I have a great respect for my friends and their struggles they told me about. As much as a person might want to be a part of a community, you can't really grasp their way without going through the pain or the losses that so many folks have went through. Thank you again.
Good words and video.. Am glad that its finely been explained that the religious belief's differ greatly from Tribe to Tribe. Those who wish to follow Native culture should not be put down though. Some are truely seeking a better belief system than they have grown up with. At the same time it seems disrespectful for some one to claim to be a teacher when all they are out for is to make money off those who don't know any better. Same thing as one pretendin to be a Catholic Priest or Rabbi.
As a member of the Maliseet Nation, some of these pictures actually make me ill. I can't understand how people can be so ignorant as to delude themselves that this is a good idea (and actually pay money for it!).
That video is really good i have lots of respect for native people and i read about different tribes and peoples all the time cherokee, apache, blackfeet, cree, sioux even aztec, taino, and inca
much love and by the way i myself am not native american im puert rican but i still respect your culture
Great video. I wonder how the non-native American population would feel about this--
How 'bout a movie starring a Native American trying to connect with his exotic blue-blood Episcopal heritage from his English princess ggg-grandmother? Maybe he can don a vicar's robe and be a really authentic white man because we all know that anyone can be a vicar if he or even she just buys a "How to Be an Authentic Vicar" CD for 29.99.
Ahaw, Nimkiise ndi zhnikaas, mkwa doodem, Haskaont ndi wninjibaa. Miigwech for this awesome video. It is not that we as native people don't like non-natives, it is quite the opposite. One of our seven grandfather teachings is to respect all. If you wish to have a spiritual connection, understand that you are a valued part of creation, and that you do not need to be an Anishinabee, Haudenosaunee, Lakota, or any other Native Nation to be spiritually connected. Believe in yourself and ...
Lets see.. 1 They should be treated equally. They aren't. 2 The Treaties with the indigenous people have been broken repeatedly. 3 The christians and others have repeatedly used genocide to control them. 4 Until 30 years ago, they were not permitted to freely practice their spiritual beliefs. 5 The US and Canadian Goverments continue to do the above. Yep, Real equality there. Steal their children, steal their lands, refuse them the right to be who they are. Yep you really studied. ayep
NDNs shouldnt have special rights. ALL Men were created equally.
NDNs can't get sovereignty from a nation that conquered them. Thats why they were conquered in the first place. Now that doesnt make sense, does it?
NDNs should gamble during a recession. Otherwise they are contributing to the recession and coming Depression. White man, contact your representatives and complain bitterly.
NDN...I hope ur investing ur loot wisely because the day is coming when your gambling will end...trust me!
mtig, You've done some really great work here. I posted a video response to our problem here. What is needed is simply RESPECT. These people who become frauds are so lost and their minds are so tristed they've forgotten the simple truths. We need honour and respect among each other. You are a true warrior for putting the people first.
Great job! The problem is that every white person doing his or her own version of a sweat lodge thinks that its everyone else who is "fluffy". Arvol Looking Horse closed the Inipi to non-NDNS because of their disrespect and inability to understand how offensive their "honour" is to us. If you are white and looking at this video - look closely at yourself. Resist the urge to point the finger at those others. If you're doing sweats, you are the other.
Awesome video! I doubt that the wannabes are able to hear what you have to say, however. Their desire NOT to be white is stronger than their desire to be moral.
This video is just great. So many White wannabees are taken in by these "plastic" cretins. To admire the culture of another is fine, but to try and buy that culture is profane. To sell the sacred rituals, is an abomination. What so many fail to realize is that that those who profit from such enterprises are paramount to hate crimes as this is no less than making a profit off genocidal suffering.

I'm sure it'd be a real conversation starter.

Have people sen that youtube video called "What Do Native Americans Want?"
Its a case of white society's Cultural Fetishism of other cultures.
