I have x850xt and have searched and tryed out safe overclocking using RivaTuner. Original: Coreclock = 519,8 MHz and Memory clock = 540 MHz.
Safe highest overclocking that work fine without any artifacts ad so on: Coreclock = 540,0 MHz and Memory clock = 600,0 MHz. U dont need any extra fan for this, the only thing U need to do (so U don´t overheat your graphic-card) is to speed up the original graphic-fan. In rivatuner U set fan-speed on fixed, I let it go on 80% when playing. That´s all!
x850xt is a great card........(btw: HIS radeon iceQturbo x850xt was a only card in that time that had a giant coling and it took a 2 slots in side panel
My X850XT @ default I can run this game @ 1280X1024 with my Q6600 @ default and 4GB GSKILL on XP... See people: TEXTURE QUALITY: Medium OBJECTS Q: Medium SHADOWS Q: Medium PHYSICS Q: High SHADERS Q: Custom VOLUMETRIC EFFECTS Q: High GAME EFFECTS Q: High POSTPROCESSING Q: High PARTICLES Q: High WATER Q: Custom SOUND Q: High Game played @ 25 FPS average...!!! Think you mean 8600GTS 256MB or 512MB? Either way it is slightly slightly slower than an 8600GTS. More or less equal to a 7600GT/8600GT. If you meant an 8800GTS 320MB.... LOL!!!!!

DX10 is off !! I have play this with DX9, Shader Model 2.0 and with medium and high settings.

can you choose in the menu to put it on medium,high etc or it wont let you because the x800 doesn't have pixel shader 3?

At first I have make a pencil-mod (Volt-Mod) on this X850XT and than I have overclockt it with RivaTuner!!
