@kingjokerful i feel where u coming from but u gotta understand every band program isn't the same. yea in most bands the DM is the leader/assistant band director. but that isn't every band. SU's DMs have always just been about basic smoothness, whistling, and marching with swag.every now and then you'll see one of them direct(not often). you can't get mad at the DM. that's just the way the Band director wanted their DM to be...just another band member..

@dwil2002 thats not our parade formation. the street was so slim that they had to stay in a four man front with the tubas down each side so the bass line could be better felt. we usually march in a 10 man front with trombones in front and the drums behind the tubas.

I try to make my criticisms constructive but Southern, you need to stop blowing so dam hard. You act as if you are trying to dislodge a cork out of your butt. I don't know who your band director is but he needs to take a lesson or two on tone quality. You have the makings of a dynamite band but you fail to adopt musicality as a premium goal. There are other ways to prove your manhood then by blowing your balls off. Take a page from the Aristocrats, FAMU, Bethune, and or Norfolk State.

@aristocratify I hear ya, but this is who Southern is. Our trademark is power, and that will not change. This is one of the reasons that Mr. Jackson got the head position and took over when Doc's era ended. To change that wouldn't be Southern. We'll never loose our identity. Just like FAMU or BCC won't change who they are. And they shouldnt.

@aristocratify LOL @ take a page from those other bands. Why in the world would SU want to be like any of those bands? Its like food man. Some like Spicy, some like Mild. The Juke will always stay spicy! Some people like mild (bland) bands like you mentioned, others like that spice! To each his own though dude...You don't like it, just don't listen. lol

@aristocratify Let Southern be Southern and the others who they are. I tell you what, when those other bands get ready to play southern they are practicing 12 hours a day...
