If you like scary stuff I'd recommend Aooni. To can watch it on youtube, I think it was version 3 that was the scariest, but version 6.23 was pretty scary too. Version 5.2 is the least scary of the bunch because no one dies.
oh yeah, i remember the descend, it was scary, especialy to this claustrophobic horror movie fan right here. i kind'a saw the jumpscare at the end coming, but it still scared the dick of me.
fun fact about suspiria: it's the first of the three mothers trilogy. the one who appears in suspiria is mater suspiriorum(the mother of sighs), the second one, inferno, has mater tenebrarum(the mother of darkness), and the third one, the mother of tears, has mater lachrymosum(the mother of tears)
Want bad fan fiction? 'Seven Deadly Strikes' by the Lilac Elf of Lothlorien. I should have just titled the story 'Snakes in a Castle' since it's 'Snakes on a Plane' meets 'Harry Potter'.
These movies are awesome; you have great taste. :) I also recommend "Unrest". The story basically sucks and it's completely cliche and campy, but it's scary as hell once you learn that the cadavers used in the film were real. And...well, real dead bodies aren't so pretty after a week or so.
@cufacious Wow, buddy! If you hate listening to her so much, then why do you keep on watching this video of hers? Move on to a video that you actually like instead if bitching in the comments how much you hate this one.
About a couple of years ago, my dad put "Misey" onto the TV and I had no clue it was a scary movie. So, I watched it and then I finally realized he had tricked me... I was young at the time, so, at the end when she shoots the sheriff guy .... well I was a bit shaken up for the next couple of weeks...
Let the Right One In might be my favourite horror BOOK ever. When I first read the novel, I wasn't even aware that it was about vampires, I thought it would be your typical Scandinavian thriller, something to pass time with, but it I was so wrong. It is amazing.
It's heart-wrenching, touching and genuinely horrifying all the same. And it's creepily believable. If vampires existed, this is how they would work.
The movie is also really, really good. Very true to the book and the actors are great.
LOL I always meant to watch Misery, but I was in a similar situation two years ago, so I thought it would be too...too true to life. So I chickened out :P
You've got good taste! I'm going to watch some of these recs that I haven't seen. Oh, one of my favorite things about Susperia-the soundtrack. Goblin's music can't even be called "background", and I know people who can't watch this movie just because they hate it so much. I love it and want to play it for my trick or treaters this year. (It's a tough neighborhood, they can take it.)
You've got such a wonderful, interesting list and your choices are remarkable! <3
I loved Trick r Treat and Carrie especially. I'm really curious to see Suspiria and Misery though since they look wonderful (and the original Let The Right One In- I've seen the remake which was okay). I'm glad you didn't include any of the cliched teen slasher flicks. I'm getting pretty sick of them and all the sequels they try to milk out of the franchise for a few extra bucks. :/

@TheWhisper365 no. Steven king has less beautifully macabre prose, and more killing characters for no reason. And more stories set in Maine.

Speaking of Stephen King, is he like a 21st century Edgar Allan Poe?

I would say "Buried" is very similar to "The Descent", but I guess it isn't really a horror film.

What I really loved about Carrie was watching it again after reading the inspiration in Stephen King's book 'On Writing'.
