well it takes a moderate walker 3 hour to get to the top... it took a lot longer for us because most of us were not so fit. The heat of the day gets to you as most of the track is exposed and the rest is NZ forrest (nice and cool)...
Beautiful spot. We kiwi's are so lucky to be living in paradise.
Won't be long till it's been subdivided, houses everywhere, lakes closed due to pollution from septic tanks and storm water run off, full of "Adventure Tourism" and all that other crap that comes with globilization.
pollution ruining our lakes?? cos of all the big factories in the nelson lakes area?? what pollution are you on about? you want to see pollution go to asia and europe. nz is nowhere near as bad as overseas. only sad thing in nz is all the introduced pests that are killing the native birds & forests...and regards tourists...get off your arse and walk up to hopeless creek hut or john tait, not many tourists up there...and they got as much rights to be there as you do.
yes i sounded a bit agressively ans i am sorry for that but it just makes me angry ...maybe better having some sort of restriction on the amount of tourists we let in..who am I to say all that...I came on a plane as well.:-(
I like lakes in NZ...they're so beautiful to look at and so peaceful...but pollution is ruining them all!..If only people could see what global warming and pollution is doing to our lakes and native animals...
it is weird...you would think there would be enough names to go around..but nope..Rotoiti means "little lake"...so i guess its a name that applies to a lot of lakes in NZ!
Green NZ he....no recycling...the use of chemicals in the building industry is fenominal and very sad...the she'll be right attitude towards nature by the majority kiwis is shocking...they take it for granted..so sad
fuck eco tourism..fuck noisy polluting jetboat rides bungy and all that stuff.I live here 12 years now and although tourism brings money in it sure ruins my peace here down south NZ stay away and explore your own country.leave us alone
I tend to agree kurtland, (but not quite so agressively!) I look forward to air travel being to expensive so we can keep our country to ourselves. I would rather walk through the bush and hear only tuis.
omg i totally was there this summer! I went to NZ with a group called international student volunteers and we stopped at the lake for a break from the bus! we went out to the end of the dock and there were huge eels in the water! it was awesome! yay memories!
so beautiful ;)
