  • this is my karate club! i love fighting and training with every one!

  • nice hook black belt!:)

  • point sparring is soo boring o.e

  • @DragonInk101 Don't know since when. Different schools use different belt rankings We don't use it either. Some schools also use yellow and purple belts. We do not. Some will use a black belt with a white stripe in the center as an apprentice black belt and some just stay with red until you test. It can differ from school to school. Some schools still use a BLACK belt, we also do not, we use the tradition midnight blue as a "black belt"

  • if im not mistaken thats master satler right?

  • @killerwalrus11 I'm not sure, you may be right. It's hard to keep track of all the people we have met over the years. Thanks for checking out the video.

    Tang Soo !!

  • @cyjack1 hey bye the way do you happen to know antinio rivera?

  • @killerwalrus11 The name does not sound familiar. Do you know what martial arts school he attends ?

  • red kicking midnight blue's butt

  • @shufflegirl13 actually the other boy was a brown belt. It is hard to see in the video , you are not the first to make the mistake. The red belt is now a midnight blue and just won 2 golds and a bronze in the New England TSD Championships. 1 gold in sparring and another in forms, the bronze was in weapons.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment

    Tang Soo!!

  • they have the agility but not the speed

  • @zeroheroiii thanks for the comment. The kids were only like 11-12 yrs old. I agrree my sons kicks needed to be faster and he knew it too. He is now 14 and much quicker especially with his hands. His kicks have improved a lot also.

  • looks like ITF TKS point sparring. do you do continus sparring aswell?

  • Yes but only in class not in tournaments. We typically only do Tang Soo Do tournaments and they are all point sparring , at least everyone we have been to. Usually do 5-6 a year....depends on time and money.

  • is there a big difference between Tang Doo soo and Taekwondo?

  • To put simply No they are very similar. I will email you a good link because youtube won't let me post a link here.

  • Can you pleas send the same link to me, as you did to laggern00b to? I am training Taekwon Do.

  • the videoes are of my son, he was just promoted to apprentice black belt (Chodan Bo).I just the taxi and he is 13

  • No. We wanted to but we couldn't do both and had comitted to the US Goodwill TSD in MD , The worlds in Fl were 2 weeks later.Didn't want to nor could I hang around.

  • I am not sure what region number..,but we are in N.E. CT. We go to tournaments in the southern part of the state as well as RI and as far as Waldorf,MD .We are members of the U.S Goodwill Tang Soo Do Assoc. Along with several others TSD Assoc.

  • We don't have a brown so thanks for the info. But the red belt my son is wearing had 3 stipes and in our school that =3rd ,2stipes=2nd, 1 stripe=1st. He has since been promoted to apprantice black belt and in our school that belt is black with a white srtipe in the center.

  • i dont like the rules about the gear but its understandable i guess , cant get around em, regardless a hit is still a hit, foam only protects so much.

    =D great match

question, was he sparring a black belt ? the belt looks black but im a bit thrown off by the uniform cuz it looks like a gup uniform and not a don uniform, shouldnt it have black (or midnight blue depending on your school) trim ?

  • I am not a big fan of the some of the rules myself ..but what ya gonna do.

    As for you question.

The kid he is sparring is a brown belt. I am not sure how his shcools belt systems works. I can only assume he is in the "advanced level" My son was a

3rd gup at the time I think.

Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • oh i see, i didnt think of the possibility of it being a brown =P that works then i guess thanks =P that was bugging me all night lol.

3rd gup red belt sounds about right to me , any idea what rank hes up to now adays ?

  • Yes he is a 1st gup now

  • Awesome ! ! that musta taken a while

i'm going for 6th gup tomorrow wish me luck

  • Good luck in your testing. Spend today practicing.

He has been taking classes for just over 2 1/2 years so he has moved up pretty quickly. He will test for his black belt in less then a year.

  • Thanks, i plan to do just that.

i've only been in for about 6 months i would say im moving average speed but 6th to 1st always slows down alot so im told :p thats fine with me tho im in no rush.

thanks again for the luck ^^ i'll have to let ya know how i did tomorrow

  • Redbelt has some nice kicks, should develope them more, smash some bags, break any boards?

  • Thanks. He has been doing more bag work lately. He has done some board breaking but that only comes around once a year at school,so I buy boards for him but that gets costly.I would like the school to focus more on sparring , he could be much better. He is only allowed light contact so he holds back on his kicks in tournaments because that is what he is use to doing.

  • Yeah thats understandable, I dont break boards on a regular basis, but thats what I use my punch/kicking bag for =). sparring is great, but the forms and drills are just as important, they imbed subconscious reflexive actions, speed, technique, and finess to movements.

  • Yes I agree with you on that. And he does like doing the forms, he walks around the house moving his hands around and you can tell he is going through it in his head.Sometimes I wonder if he even realizes he is doing it .

  • Hahahahaha, I do the same thing. It gets some wierd looks when I'm walking through a shopping centre or in town and at work =P

  • the red belt needs to develop blocks...understanding that offence is not the only thing going on in a fight

im in the canadian tang soo do federation and we have free sparring every class but we dont use gears...and during sparring its not tkd jumping up and down kicking all the time, we strike and block

  • Here in the U.S sparring gear is required and it is all point sparring .If you do that much sparring then you also know that the way you fight can also depend on your opponents style. Some fights you block and counter others you may be the aggressor . He did do more kicking in this fight then most. This fight was almost a year ago now and his blocking has improved greatly ,in fact that is the reason he placed 2nd,he didn't block well enough .Thank for watching and for your comment.

  • I was wrong about how long ago that fight was. It was closer to 7 months not a year. I was thinking of a different tournament.

  • my master is Christopher Teo, he was one of the student of the grand master Hwang Kee, what we learn is not a sport kicking people for points. For us its serious death combat and we dont just give a tap on sum1's rib for 1 or 2 points. I've honestly never seen or heard of a real tae kwon dou guy win a fight in real life. Its a good way to learn kicks but what we learn is being used out there

btw red belt for us is a stage before black/blue

  • Our martial arts system teaches Korean Tang Soo Do as our base system but integrates a fusion of karate, judo, aikido, kickboxing, Philippine Kali and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to make a practical and efficient means to defend yourself in most any situation . The tournaments are for fun and there are rules to follow. Many of the slefdefence techniques we know cannot be used in a TSD tournament. Red belt is 2 steps belowe we have apprentice belt back w/ white stripe around the center.

  • we're the traditional tsd and it includes many kicks from tkd cuz tsd is the founder of tkd, hapkido and judo

  • Yes I am awhere of the history of TSD .Thank you for your comments

  • you dont have to use complete gear, the only thing that is required is head gear, not the somewhat ridiculous hand and feet gear...

  • AMERICAN TANG SOO DO ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT RULES

    SPARRING RULES

Foam dipped sparring gear for head, hands and feet are required for sparring competitors in

all divisions! A mouthgaurd and a cup for males are also required

I don't make the rules we just follow them. And they have been the same at every tournament we

have been to in the last 2 years.

  • Look it up

  • youtube will not let me post the link so google it.

  • pretty sweet moves by the red belt

  • thank you
