  • On this date in 1958 {Feb. 24th} "Who's Sorry Now" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; evenually it peaked at #4 and spent 22 weeks in the Top 100...

Was Ms. Francis' 1st record to make the charts; had a total of 55 records to make Billboard's Top 100 {15 Top 10 records with 3 peaking at #1}...

    Reached #1 {for 6 weeks} on the U.K. Singles chart...

Was first performed in the 1945 Marx Brothers' movie "A Night In Casablanca"...

Marie Osmond's covered version peaked at #40 in 1975...

  • Her dad kept telling her to record this song from 1923, but she said it was old fashioned and corny and refused. Her first nine singles failed to chart, and MGM told her they'd let her release one more. She decided to fulfill dear old dad's request. Her version of "Who's Sorry Now" reached number four on the Billboard pop charts, and there was no looking back. Connie Francis became one of the biggest selling artists ever. I hope she thanked her daddy!

  • @rb62470 she had a tough relationship with her dad. he was a control freak and ran off her boyfriend (bobby darin) with a gun. connie was a success musically but her social life for the most part was a disaster because of her father. as a parent sometimes we have to let our children find their own way.

  • ヤッター!!まったく初期のコニー・フランシスの映像だ、それも私の大好きな古名曲”WHO'S SORRY NOW"タマリマセン

  • I wonder where is she now Connie Francis is one of the best singer

  • bella Connie Francis te amo eres una Diva y es mi cancion Favorita

  • lead guitar GEORGE BARNES..

  • What a Voice !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The clown..sadness..it's a great metaphor..perfect for the video..and the song..

  • Great song, but not her first #1. That was Everybody's Somebody's Fool in 1960 and yes, what is that stupid clown doing it the video?

  • Class....Connie has lots of it. Thats whats missing in today's singers. They have no class at all.

  • I'm really pleasure watch and listen this amazing music... make me feel that past years...!!!!

  • any other young people listen to this like me?

  • what happened to connie francis??

  • @cousinarty She is still performing to sell out crowds all over the world. She will be performing in NY this weekend!

  • @cousinarty She is still selling out venues all over the world. She jsut was honored by a number of aggencies and she just completed her second autobiography.

  • I love this song.

  • Cute and sweet song ! :)

  • i don't usually like 50s music but this song is great

  • Happy Birthday CONNIE FRANCIS I Love You God Bless You

  • what a voice , what an era, what beautiful memories of the good old times..

  • Why can't we get singers like this on the X-Factor?

  • so does the clown symbolize (the man) she is talking about?

  • this is first connie francis i heard i was sixteen then still love it

  • such a good song !!

  • Gorgeous stuff and real music - Love you Connie Francis from Aboriginal Australia

  • Yeah, I wonder who the musicians were on the recording cut, especially the lead guitar. While technology certainly enhanced the range of the electric "axe", it ended a guitar pickin' style that - looking back now - would have remained popular for many years. Might still be. Same with Buddy Holly's Crickets - the stand up base really punched their sound through speakers. BH still sounded great without the Crickets, but that unique "sound" signature was lost.

  • This is the very best version of the song. It was a brilliant approach.

  • this is music..where did it go...

  • Dinah Shore's version is the best.

  • @dianamaryflorence

I totally disagree with you. I love Dinah but I think her version of this song pales in comparison to Connie's version.

  • I really like the guitar style playing in the background. It's a style no one plays anymore--almost a lost art.

  • great to hear this song again my dad was a connie francis fan

  • pisces49---thank you so much for uploading this classic. As tiparker says..this is real music.

  • Le clown est trist,,,,tha'ts the idea...

  • YOU TUBE NOW KNOWS THE ANSWER! LOL!

  • MY FAVORITE BY CONNIE--LOVE YA CONNIE

  • Ein schöner Song aus alten Tagen, Servus German / Berlin; Jürgen

  • esta o.k.mi pato de cachete

  • no question.... the greatest female singer of the 50's and 60's

  • Wow I always thought this was Patsy Cline. I love this song

  • 1958...a great year for good music! The album this cut was from featured Nelson Riddle and the Orchestra with some absolute classic tracks.

  • Connie has a great story in her book concerning her father, who kept telling her to record "Who's Sorry Now?" when she was trying to become an established singer, and kept failing. Connie told him he was stupid for suggesting she recording some decades-old song. Guess dad was right!

  • Very good song! Probably my favorite from her.

  • What a set of pipes! This song breaks into a stripper melody towards the end.

  • she does have some set of lungs :o)

  • Connie Francis was no.13 with this song in the world-year-end-charts in 1958

  • OMG! brings back so many wonderful memories.. Connie Franci sis the lady! What a voice! Those were the days mt friends :)

    Peace...

Thanks so much for posting and God Bless!

  • i love this song and this voice. i am so happy to find it

  • brings back my youth, songs with meaning

  • Connie was the best/top female singer in the 50's and 60's. All those records she sold and also sang in 13 lanuages. What talent and amazing voice. Those were the good ole days., listening to her voice. Thanks much for posting. God bless.

  • What a voice! Connie Francis could belt out the best R&R. Those were the days......

  • That is Roy Orbison - the greatest male singer of all time.

  • My favouritest singing voice in the whole wide world =D

  • Connie to sing very beautiful very very...

  • 0:45-1:05 she looks just like rachel weisz... spooky

  • i like this it brings back good memories Than You So Much.. She has a wonderful voice

  • Simply ASTONISHING!! such a voice is a jewel in mankind's history of Art

  • Oh, the good ole days!

    Thanks for the Video!

  • Such a legend! One of the greatest voices!

  • This lady- bar none has the most beautifulest voice that ever came down the pike!

  • And these early AB performances and several performances on prime time variety shows such as Ed Sullivan's were setting the stage for the advent of the music video. (Which would eventually overtake those shows starting in the 1980's).

  • All of Connie's songs are very good indeed, good singer!!!!!!!!

  • She was great singing in spanish, great voice and charisma.

  • Great Singer and Song but who's idea was it to put the clown in the act

  • This clip is from an early "American Bandstand" TV show with Dick Clark. It was obviously a staged to try and fit in w/ the song. I do think it shows that Connie was more than just a good singer, she's also a fairly good actress here.

  • I want a pettycoat

  • Now this is what REAL music is all about....the good ole days with the BEST music in the world...!!! Thanks for sharing...

  • @tiparker119 It has been in my blood since I was 3 years old an could appreciate music. I loved this style music as a youngster and now 40 miss it evermore.

  • @tiparker119 I SSSOOO agree! I love 50's music. I wish Connie's later life would have turned out better!

  • Crislaine

Outra brasileira que ama Connie !! Ela faz parte da minha história , da minha adolescência tão feliz , junto com outros ídolos do rock...... Amo quando ela canta Mamma, em italiano , é uma voz única , SAUDADES !!!!

  • what is that thing she's putting makeup on?

    it's hideous.

  • this is a great video of her. she looks gorgeous.

  • Met her once she must have been in her mid 20's. Like some people she looked much better in the flesh. The camera did not do her justice.

  • um brasileiro tinha que gostar dela,,sou eu....

  • You Had Your Way----Now you must pay!! That's right Connie--Tell it to the world! I'm so there!!--never leave your side---Girl I'm right here!------kissssssss to those who listen to this voice!

  • My mom and I love Connie Francis she's the coolest and still rocks.

  • Connie fans: Connie will be appearing live April 25 in Uniontown Pennsylvania. Also appearing in Baltimore, Maryland later this year. Complete tour schedule can be found at conniefrancisdotcom.

  • Great to know the legendary Connie Francis is still performing. I will check out that website.

  • omg !!! my mother was born in UNION TOWN PENNSYLVANIA SUCH A SMALL SMALL WORLD PEACE ANGEL

  • At the Landmark Apt, In Cherry Hill, NJ, Connie was my next door neighbor. Oh well.

  • was that on Rt 70???

  • Rt. 70 by 295.

  • It was truly interesting to watch Connie, with her first record, transform from a rather plain girl with an indistinct fashion sense into a true beauty who became known for her great sense of style. She was/is above all a quick learner and self-improver and hard worker. We're all happy she didn't have the medical career she planned on!

  • Thank u for the names.. I don´t really know the genre of it and I´d like to know.. I´m lookin for this kind of sweet ballads, that break your heart xS Like this song.. Thanks anyway, I liked Timi and Brenda.. But not exactly what I was lookin´for :)

  • You're welcome. The only singer I know, that sings ballads like Connie is: Karen Carpenter.

    Take care,

    Kevin

  • Can anybody say what´s the exact genre of music Connie sings?? I can´t find any other singers as famous as her and with her quality... Any good artists? ;)

  • Connie sings all different genres of music. Depends on your preference, but you can listen to Karen Carpenter, Timi Yuro and Brenda Lee to name a few.

  • while she sang in a few different genre, you'll often find her music listed under Pop Vocalist. Many of her early works were rock'n'roll, like "Lipstick on Your Collar" and "Stupid Cupid". She also did what might be the precursor to world music-she could sing well in a few different languages. Another artist to take a look at might be Julie London, who was singing at the same time, but she was a little older than Connie.

  • This video would have been better if it was her on a stage alone, big frank sinatra microphone, black dress, medium cut, close shot with her purring in that mic and looking forlorn with those big bedroom eyes.

  • Phooey to the clown--someone should've shot the show's mindless philistine producer.

  • I love connie!

  • Clowns sometimes represent being a fool...also the happy and sad in a relationship..it seems very appropriate that Connie would have a clown in this..great classic song..

  • When you've acted like a fool and lost love in a relationship, feeling like you've been the clown, then you'll get it!

  • I'll always like this song - which, by the way, is a remake of a much older original - but the way it's staged, with Connie singing to a female clown, is weird.

  • THE VERY BEST !!!

  • Very nice voice

    Thank you

  • All the #1 hits, all the songs, great voice, good actress and she still can't make the Rock & Roll Hall of SHAME. They put in other people that were no better than one hit wonders.Simply a disgrace! Connie, you were, and still are the BEST FEMALE SINGER EVER.Love ya.

  • Amazing voice, great song - sends chills thru me ... I am not familar with Connie Francis or her music, but I saw a photo of her in a newspaper the other day and thought "Wow, what a beautiful woman" ... Now I know what I've been missing ... "I Was Born Too Late" I suppose :)

  • I love this song and Connie Francis has an amazing voice. But I do not understand the clown...

  • Mein Gott - Wie ist das schööön!

  • SWEET, cheers from Texas.

  • Back to reality...LOL

  • When I was kid I would have slayed giants, swam the Atlantic, jumped canyons and leapt over Mount Everest for a date with Connie... Oh well. LOL

  • THE BEST

  • Thank you to whomever removed those unnecessary comments from that "willywonka" guy. Now, back to Connie Francis...Love this song very much!

  • willywonka, save your political rantings for a debate chat...I am well-aware of what went on in those days. When I said her songs remind me of a kinder, gentler american of long ago I meant when families still ate together at the dining room table, before cell phones ruled the world and when people still got 8 hours of sleep a night after listening to such great songs as this one; Thanks Connie for the lovely music.

  • a classic song

  • That's just one of those great records that you never grow tired of hearing.I first heard my parents playing that song over 40 years ago and I love it just as much today as I did back then. What a wonderful era. Just love it !

  • Connie is the best

  • I love Connie. Her voice makes me feel so good. I hope PISCES49 send us some video where Connie sing "Blue Winter" (Invierno triste in spanish) It's my favorite song because it was the first Connie's song I hear when I was 8 years old in México City. Now I'm 49 and I hear this song almost everyday.

  • It was the custom of virtually every singer on "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" {or Clark's other series} to "lip-sync" their current hits; that way, Dick didn't have to pay for a live band to back them up. But this performance is from the first telecast of his Saturday night show on February 15, 1958; Connie was one of his first prime-time guest stars, and the kids in the audience bears that out- the show was telecast live from New York's "Little Theater", not Philadelphia. The soundtrack's "remastered".

  • you stinkin turd

    just kidding :-)

  • i relly like the past 50's ,60's and 70's the golden age i hope its still th same year up to know i love everything b4! nice video

  • Beautiful. I truly miss the kindler, gentler america of long ago.

  • An "American Bandstand" performance. I first saw this vid. at the televised anniversary for the show back in 1981. Obviously lip-synched, but what a great job by Connie Francis on the lip-synching (unlike most of her contemporaries on that issue). Connie Francis was obviously showing that she had acting classes before she went on to become mainly a pop diva.

  • Gosh WHO TURN IS IT NOW?? Oh SORRY! LMAO! Great SONG! Thanks FOR THE VIDEO!!! TEARS OF A CLOWN!
