Eventhough u guys share the same language, but the culture is pretty difference, and I heard Taiwan also have own language Hokien am I right? maybe the great great grandparent might married to difference races such as Japan, cantoneses or difference tribes of ppl in Taiwan. Taiwanese is no longer can be considered as a full chinese, so there is differentiate between taiwanese & chinese.

@cathy91G yeah taiwan speak taiwanese and a different dialect of mandarin and also have a quite unique culture and the country is very very different. (I honestly cant even understand china's mandarin) so yes you're right too=) taiwan is not a part of china. Malaysia and signapore speaks mandarin but they're not part of china. Its the same thing with english too =) UK and USA is not the same.

@cathy91G because of the second war so people moved to Taiwan and during that time Taiwan was still part of China..and Those people who moved to Taiwan has passed on Chinese's cultural~~~! my grandmother was one of them..after a long time we went back to Hokien (Fujian) to look for our lost family!! Hokien (fujian) and Taiwan has exactly the same custom and dialect...if u wanna judge someting pls get to konw it well first..!~

But they separate from them and form their own Government system, and conquered the West. US become bigger & bigger, and then more ppl from Europe and Asia immigrated. If they considered to be the same country, there should be NO DIFFERENCIATE. Eventhough they call Republic of China, but there is a country call Taiwan in a World Map, not Guangzhou. Chinese is just general term that use to call people not only from Mainland, also Hongkong, Singapore, Maylaysia and Taiwan that can also speak mandarine, but they didn't considered as full chinese. I think ppl better call them by their nationality.
