The whole gist of the commercial is that the cavemen were sophisticated, sometimes highly intellectual yuppies, just the opposite of what you would consider a neanderthal to be. The show didn't capitalize on that concept and instead they tried to make "flintstone-type" jokes. It was terrible.

Great posturing Geico!!! This commercial was done so tongue in cheek it should serve as their own personal apology to all of the TV viewers who expected more and to the unfortunate actors cast in the TV show who were destined for failure for simply being "not the right guys". Original concept-loved the commercials, the Caveman's Crib website etc...but the show just couldn't hold up. Sorry dudes!

"Cavemen" was not canceled. It shares the same fate as every other show on American TV this season, namely the writers' strike shut down production. It may be back this season or it may not; the networks have a lot of catching up to do.

Interesting, though, that this commercial appears to be the first reference EVER to acknowledge that Geico and ABC recognize that the other exists; I never saw Geico buy an ad on that series.
