when I first listened to this, I thought "god, the start of this song is so cheesy, I thought he was way better in MegadeOH HOLY SHIT THIS SOLO IS AWESOME WHERE DID THAT COME FROM"
On the Megadeth Behind the Music Documentary he said he left the band because he was a "Pop"kinda guy and he was tired of playing thrash metal.. First Music For Speeding now this Loudspeaker stuff?? Marty..I admire you and all but..please make up your mind.
@yonin4 I thought it was something to do with him not wanting to pretend that he was angry (whilst in Megadeth) about stuff all the time or something??
@yonin4 he was tired of thrash in 2000 but a few years can change a guy (dont get me wrong i love megadeth and marty) but not everyone is the same for most of their lives, their personality change, also he might want to play a little different stuff than dave wants on his albums, but you gotta admire martys style no matter what.
@lpu127 Don't get me wrong either.Marty's legacy with Megadeth is huge.To the point where all the guitar players that came after him had to play his solos almost the exact same way he did. Because Dave knew the song wouldn't sound right. And yes..you can change overtime. But I suspect that Marty's departure from Megadeth had to do more with Dave's attitude at the time rather than his desire to play a different style of music.Marty recorded the Risk record. How much pop can you get with that one.
@yonin4 According to what I read in a couple of interviews woth him he said he left Megadeth because he felt he had nothing more to give them... Friedman wrote a lot of music in Risk, and that album wasn't so bad. Actually I loved it. Ecept Crush 'Em.
@yonin4 Shit... I think a LOT of people think Youthinasia & Countdown to Extinction were both kinda 'Pop'-y. Still, I loved both of those albums as much as I love Peace Sells, & Rust in Peace. VERY different styles & tones ~ the former 2 from the latter 2.
@yonin4 ps... & you're spot-on about Dave insisting everybody that came behind Marty (though.. he really showed no love for Marty when he left), learn his fuckin' solos to the LETTER.
Dude.. Broderick is a MONSTER, and he said his first order of business when he joined Megadeth, was to learn the solos of Holy Wars (The Punishment Due), and Tornado Of Souls. A) Because they do them at almost every show. & B) Because they're "complex.. with a lot of intense timing changes.". Chris's words.
i love marty because he is amazing but i also really like paul gilbert because he is a shredder who plays with soul and rythem. unlike other mindless shredders constantly doing 32nd notes at same speed constantly
wow! i nver heard of this album before, and i never hear him do this stuff for a very long time, since he left for japan..damn! just like his old days with mustaine,t'was the greatest era of megadeth!..marty is the best!
Agh no, quick edits - I'm getting quantum of shoelace flashbacks... haha
It's videos like these that makes guys like Kanye West look pretty stupid - he spends $2million odd on a video and then Marty just films himself playing for a few minutes and looks WAY more cool :)
And why does every friggin' youtube guitar video have some comment about Herman Li? Jebus - who cares about him? So, he plays plastic music in a studio polished band, get over it! :P
I don't know if I would go so far as to say they invented it. Maybe developed it? I don't think they went about it saying, "let's make up a new language today, guys!" English was molded into what it is today by changes that are still happening, so why argue something that insignificant and irrelevent to this YouTube video? I mean, can you honestly say you speak the same language as Shakespeare?
Lol, you fucking grammar Nazis piss me off, you're an embarrassment to our country when you start rambling about people using bad English in a fucking comment... It's a fucking comment, get over it... Especially when you don't know when to use a capital letter yourself... Cock!

yeah, many accomplished guitarists, quit their bands in order to make their own music. those who master instruments, they always want to push the boundaries and become more of a virtuoso type and this means instrumental music genre is more suitable to what they're looking for, and not vocal oriented type music. other examples: paul gilbert, steve vai. this is i think one of marty's reasons of not going back to megadeth.

Dude... I bet I love & understand his guitar playing more than any of you do, and that's why I say this song is commercial trash. I bet Marty thinks that too. He said that for Rock Box, anyway.
fuck you, towerfatality, for being an elitist asshole. you can't say you understand and love his guitar playing anymore than anyone else. i personally agree with you but you don't have to be such an asshole about it.
I like this album Loudspeaker. Lots of catchy and memorable riffs and solos which stay inside your head. I actually appreciate the subtle influence of J-pop in this new album.
Totally agree dude. I like the solos and riffs too. The riffs are so heavy, but still catchy and these flying lead themes are just kicks ass. Of course we still can't forget how good guitar play Mart is, because he always shows his unique and unbeliveable technique.
Anyone else noticed at 3:11 that the bass break is totally "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"?

Totally dissapointed. I can't belive Marty fell for that metalcore fad... That sucks, I fucking hate that music. I hope the rest of the album sounds less /core and more Marty...

Dude, I'm only being an asshole, because I got attacked for saying it nicely.
