@NickR1980 hes happy because it was never about beating Dixon. it was an inner fight he had with himself (he refers to it as "the beast inside him" in an emotional earlier scene, and he feels he needs one last fight to exorcise the demons completely from his life and move on (he tells Pauly at the end of the fight "the beast is gone!" he was also happy to know he still had that one last fight in him, and the people still loved him. his journey is finally over and he says "yo Adrian, we did it"

@Doug19752533 Indeed to everything. And let me add that he also wanted to exorcise the pain he was carrying inside ever since Adrain died. It is IMO the thing that hurt him the most throughout the movie (and even to Paulie) and he needed one last fight to get it all out. He was hurting a lot  after her death, it was the biggest hit life had give him so he needed an outlet. This fight was the solution.
