Got in an accident last night in a 2001 chrysler neon; yeah.

they're not very safe cars to be honest with you, we flipped the car and rolled times the air-bags didn't go off and yes we did hit the front end, the car is destroyed and I'm in a lot of physical pain.

I have a Dodge Neon R/T and a cop that was chasing someone slammed right into the side of me right into the drivers door. I survived with just a few scratches. The dash board did break in half though.

I was hoping for more details and information.

What about neat little details like the roof rack available from the factory on the first gens or the colored plastic bumpers as opposed to flat black or painted bumpers. What about the Neon Cup racers or the ACR? Also a few of the cars you listed as an R/T are not.

A nice effort yet a little too much work on making it cool and a little too little Dodge Neon history.

To everyone talking about safety below; yes this car was very unsafe, especially by today's standards when even a sub-compact can get a perfect crash score. But back in the mid-90's most small cars were horrendous. Especially the other 2 Americans - the Cavalier and the Escort. The Neon was not any worse than them. We've come a long way.

I destroyed a white 94 neon with a 5 speed stick when it plowed into my truck. Shoved the motor through the dash. Plymouth met it's rock, not Plymouth rock.. But a chevy haha

By the 97 model year the problems with the manifolds and gaskets were fixed. I got a Plymouth expresso coupe a few months ago for 800 bucks with the DOHC and manual tranny. It's beat up on thr outside but runs like a dream, and still gets 35 MPG highway. I picked it up to strip out and use as an autocross racer, but I might get another just because for the price it's an amazing little car.

'99 dodge neon. my boyfriend last december died in that car. brakes locked up, just wasn't a safe car. :(

look, no offense or anything, but people have died in pretty much every make and model of car out there. you cant blame the car for his possible speeding or improper response to a situation. not saying it was his fault, but the brakes locking are not the car's fault.

air bags suck, 2008 of august a 2008 toyota 4 runner ran the stop sign and i ran slam into the rear end going 40 mph i was blessed i survived the accident but guess what no air bags, wtf.

@pepene93 Maybe it was the driver's fault, but it doesn't change the fact that these cars are death traps. Crash tests are a good indicator of how safe a vehicle will be in a crash and the Neon never did well in those either.

no they werent they were dodge neons and plymouth noens look at the emblem on the hood in 2001 chrysler ended the plymouth line so ya there are no plymouths after that but until 2001 there were both

An SRT-4 is a different car. All is shares is the body. Motor, electronics, and suspension is completely different. Its the same way and Evo is not a Lancer and am STI is not an Impreza

its a NEON srt4 like a viper srt10 or a charger srt8 or a caliber srt 4 and the lancer evolution is a package on a lancer and no the sti isnt an impreza its a wrx which is a different model than the impreza they are all special packages of the base model

My red neon was so sprite on the road, so fun! Somedays I wish I still had it. When I drive my Pt Cruiser, I still see peices of Neon (like the center stack). It sat better and was better on gas too. I miss My red Neon. Now I got a gold PT Cruiser, and its not as git up and go, as my 95 Neon was.
