I think it's a fly. Usually when creatures with high wing beat frequency are recorded on camera's that aren't fast enough to capture each wing beat, you end up with a motion blur. One frame can end up with multiple wing beats on it and it will look like a rod with multiple wings. So yea...sry but it's a fly.

Fact is: this is a real phenomena --- not insects flying close to a camera at high speeds..
This faint objects travel at extremely high speeds which makes them hard to spot.
I have seen them visually (naked-eyed) in the evening skies with a sunset backdrop. The orange back-drop is conducive to good contrast on this somewhat faint objects. A nice blue sky has the same effect.
My best video of one of these objects, shows one clearly disappearing behind distant trees.

I know someone who has video footage they took with rods in them and it can not be insects or birds because of the frame per rate they are moving. They are extremely fast you have to put the tape in slow motion to see it.
It's not a hoax. Flying rods have occured world wide. So unless a million people gathered and decided to do this one exact thing, I cannot see how it may be a hoax. Though, you can always get a video checked if it may be fake. It's been said that flying rods are the most difficult to replicate by video. pictures are too easy so they are not accepted. My guess is that it is some sort of insect flying close to the camera. Because the insect is flying so fast, and the camera may have a low fpm rate and shutter speed, it gives the insect a stretched appearance.
@Camsynth i was thinking the same - it's a small flying insect, and it's out of focus because it's very close to the lens. I never thought about the ghosting effect but what you said makes sense , if it's moving faster than the shutter speed it will "stretch" across the shot - well done Sherlock

The reason why it looks like that is motion blur. Fast moving objects in films when exposure is not very small. "object moving with respect to the camera will look blurred or smeared along the direction of relative motion." look it up.

no they actually explained it in discovery channel or something but its really actually a moth, some how moth's wings are too fast for cameras to catch, espicially when the camera is far away and not focused on them, one of the scientist actually used 3-4 cameras to capture it, he first sees the light in the slow camera, and then he zooms in with the high speed camera but still couldnt see anything, so he used the Super Framed Camera and found out it was a moth

I'm sure u r referring to the rate of shots per sec. relative to the rate of wing flap found generally to b birds blurring through the shot,however in those cases,the multiple wing pattern is always set equally across from each other,like a bird.

Fantastic - now take your video camera, a few insects in a dark room and first illuminate them with a strong light (high shutter speed), then gradually reduce the light (low shutter speed) and suddenly all insects turn to these mysterious "skyfish" - please show me any evidence to the contrary.
As for them appearing and disappearing, sure, with a low shutter speed they disappear out of the frame before the camera can finally show it.

it is a moth. yes. why ? in china, scientists set up a huge net (with alledged rods in it). one normal camera, another camera is high speed. guess what ? on a high speed camera, it captures a normal moth flying. on the normal camera - it is a rod ! Why ? Because normal camera does some sort of video compression that makes the super fast moths flying look like a rod. yes, I BELIEVED in rods - and this changed it forever. Now I know, rods are just moths on normal speed cameras.

Dude, go to wikipedia and search skyfish. Read the explanation section. Investigators already put up a big net with surveillance cameras. The regular cameras pick up the "skyfish rods" and they got caught in the net. When they checked the net, they only found insects. On a high speed camera, it clearly shows an insect flying into the net. Insects are faster than the camera capturing its frame. The wings make a sinusoidal wave that looks like the "spiral" of the skyfish. Case closed.
In the only footage of real rods they typically move on a 2 dimensional pattern. They change direction but very unpredictably and precisely. In no other footage do they display 3 dimensional flight patterns. I assure you this as a motion blur of a bug. Further more, any real rods have a type of helix cork screwing down the center "rod", this didnt have one.
u dumasses it doesn't look like a fly at all. The last time I saw a fly (about 2 minutes ago) it wasn't a long "rod" like shape and it certainly could'n fly as fast as that.
i think thats an electrical packet. like the signals from telephones and computers.when they go through the air,you cant see them but some times when theres a lot of build up in static, its visible but at a very fast rate.this occurs when the lightning blue the signal out of wack when striking giving the signal a delay on were it was sent to. notice how the signal spirals from the bolt of lighting's area befor it occours. well take that idea into consideration. iv done research to prove that.:)

Hmm....at first glance I thought it was a bug. But when I was looking at the film I was trying to figure out where did that object come from. It came from the clouds itself, flew towards the camera and back up then to the left. It moved in less than a second. I wonder if this has something to do with this so called 4th dimension. Well, well - so far based on the comments on this vid - it seems the world is at a split decision. Some believe, some don't - just about 50/50 - I will probably run into more of such weird phenomenon this season and if I do I will post it. i think i can explain... such phenomena are the beings from the world nearest to us... the Catummaharajika... in this realm, the dragons (not the Western mythical dragons which have wings), but the real dragons which are snake-like, roam..... since their world is closest to us, they make trips down to Earth.....
why do all "flying rods" fly at a speed of exactly one length per frame? me thinks it's because the limitations of the camera make a normal insect appear as a rod as it flies for a certain "length" in one frame, and does so in the next, and so on.
Its not a rod its an effct that the shutter creates. It distorts the image and makes it different so a 2 wing creature will look like a 4 wing creature
Vadervideo: You should never be to sure of youreself unless you have studied every type of living insect or bug and there behavior+flying patterns then you can exclude it as not being an insect. That is definately a bug just by the way it swooped near camera and there are so many differen't types of bug or insect species that have differen't flying patterns and that thing sure looks like the way a beetle would fly.

it's too vague, too dim to see the "ghosting" wings. the difference with the background is too small for either the camera or your eyes to pick it up.

no they actually explained it in discovery channel or something but its really actually a moth, some how moth's wings are too fast for cameras to catch, espicially when the camera is far away and not focused on them, one of the scientist actually used 3-4 cameras to capture it, he first sees the light in the slow camera, and then he zooms in with the high speed camera but still couldnt see anything, so he used the Super Framed Camera and found out it was a moth

Sorry but no,just like crop circles,1 aspect was solved & therefore dropped but there r still unanswered questions.
I'm sure u r referring to the rate of shots per sec. relative to the rate of wing flap found generally to b birds blurring through the shot,however in those cases,the multiple wing pattern is always set equally across from each other,like a bird.
That doesn't however explain the cases where the wings r each set 1 ahead of the other,in a zigzag pattern & unlike a bird,or bug etc.8)

Fantastic - now take your video camera, a few insects in a dark room and first illuminate them with a strong light (high shutter speed), then gradually reduce the light (low shutter speed) and suddenly all insects turn to these mysterious "skyfish" - please show me any evidence to the contrary.
As for them appearing and disappearing, sure, with a low shutter speed they disappear out of the frame before the camera can finally show it.

it is a moth. yes. why ? in china, scientists set up a huge net (with alledged rods in it). one normal camera, another camera is high speed. guess what ? on a high speed camera, it captures a normal moth flying. on the normal camera - it is a rod ! Why ? Because normal camera does some sort of video compression that makes the super fast moths flying look like a rod. yes, I BELIEVED in rods - and this changed it forever. Now I know, rods are just moths on normal speed cameras.

Hey this is very interesting. I caught something very strange on camera a few years ago and investigated as to what it could be, my best guess based on theories was that it was a 'rod'. Hence how I ended up on this clip, the interesting thing is, I captured the footage during a lightning storm also! I'll upload the clip and provide a link...

Dude, go to wikipedia and search skyfish. Read the explanation section. Investigators already put up a big net with surveillance cameras. The regular cameras pick up the "skyfish rods" and they got caught in the net. When they checked the net, they only found insects. On a high speed camera, it clearly shows an insect flying into the net. Insects are faster than the camera capturing its frame. The wings make a sinusoidal wave that looks like the "spiral" of the skyfish. Case closed.

In the only footage of real rods they typically move on a 2 dimensional pattern. They change direction but very unpredictably and precisely. In no other footage do they display 3 dimensional flight patterns. I assure you this as a motion blur of a bug. Further more, any real rods have a type of helix cork screwing down the center "rod", this didnt have one.

u dumasses it doesn't look like a fly at all. The last time I saw a fly (about 2 minutes ago) it wasn't a long "rod" like shape and it certainly could'n fly as fast as that.

i think thats an electrical packet. like the signals from telephones and computers.when they go through the air,you cant see them but some times when theres a lot of build up in static, its visible but at a very fast rate.this occurs when the lightning blue the signal out of wack when striking giving the signal a delay on were it was sent to. notice how the signal spirals from the bolt of lighting's area befor it occours. well take that idea into consideration. iv done research to prove that.:)

I have found Video footage of a Close up strange flying creature when i was checking my old 8mm tapes. I filmed it 4 years ago when i visited China! Hmm....at first glance I thought it was a bug. But when I was looking at the film I was trying to figure out where did that object come from. It came from the clouds itself, flew towards the camera and back up then to the left. It moved in less than a second. I wonder if this has something to do with this so called 4th dimension. I don't know, but that is cool though...

Well, well - so far based on the comments on this vid - it seems the world is at a split decision. Some believe, some don't - just about 50/50 - I will probably run into more of such weird phenomenon this season and if I do I will post it. I may also be doing some expirimenting to see if I can re-create this type of stuff with some other means, such as insects etc. Of course I need a volunteer insect trainer out there. Anyone wish to volunteer?

i think i can explain... such phenomena are the beings from the world nearest to us... the Catummaharajika... in this realm, the dragons (not the Western mythical dragons which have wings), but the real dragons which are snake-like, roam..... since their world is closest to us, they make trips down to Earth.....

why do all "flying rods" fly at a speed of exactly one length per frame? me thinks it's because the limitations of the camera make a normal insect appear as a rod as it flies for a certain "length" in one frame, and does so in the next, and so on.

Vadervideo: You should never be to sure of youreself unless you have studied every type of living insect or bug and there behavior+flying patterns then you can exclude it as not being an insect. That is definately a bug just by the way it swooped near camera and there are so many differen't types of bug or insect species that have differen't flying patterns and that thing sure looks like the way a beetle would fly.
