  • Excuse me idiots... this is not a test of who has top speed... its who is going faster at a certaing distance... acceleration... there are a few cars out there that given the best circumstances, could out accelerate a plane... the Buggati Veyron, for example, tips its nose 3 inches when it hits 4th gear to make sure it doesn't go airborne... and it has 6 gears.....

  • Don't forget, the jet is pushing off of the air to move forward, while the car gets to push off of solid ground, which is why cars naturally have an advantage in acceleration. It's like a running person vs. a swimming person, except that air is much less dense than water, so it's even harder to propel yourself forward in air than in water. But yet, the jet still wins due to its extreme and almost unimaginable power.

  • Coolest video on YouTube.

  • american planes... bull shit

  • @4rk4de what might be the problem mate?

  • Those Jets Fighter's break the sound barrier once or probably twice so there is no chance to any race car to beat it, plus the fact that this particular jet, got two passengers makes it more evident, but nevetheless it was impressive what a F1 Car can do.

  • Was that F2003 really fitted with a V12 or is that a journalistic error?

  • @tubehows4life it was journalistic error, fifth gear know nothing about f1, the f2003 had a V10 like all the teams used in the 2003 f1 season

  • @AdamTheMan1993 Yeah I thought that must be an error, because that was the V10 era, I thought maybe a V12 was shoehorned into it for the sake of this race, which would have been very cool.

  • @tubehows4life V12 engines haven't been used in f1 since 1995, only ferrari used a V12 that year

  • @AdamTheMan1993 I know, I meant a custom made one for this event with the jet.

  • Ferrari owned in the start in the final jet owned

  • @aonutube No never

  • better luck next time....a jets speed is measured in machs...unless it can go faster than the speed of sound it has no chance

  • I thought tobacco advertising was illegal, especially on English tv!

  • FUCK well I'm still happy that a f1 car can a least be close to a jet fighter well done Ferrari thanks

  • pointless test. a jet is IN THE AIR. already its won the battle, and we haven't even taken into account the fact that the jet has immense thrust.

  • omg..... i can picture myself in that ferrari, just accelerating like there is nothing else in the world to do and feel the speed ;)

  • Seem like the car won!

  • amazing!!

  • uhuhuh 1:01 pure ownage

  • also imagine if the plane was designed to race and not fight....

  • whats with the jets fly them selves shit? why would it cost millions to train them then??

  • @jetengine7 I never said what was faster, or what was slower. I only stated that Gilles Villeneuve beat a jet by 1.2 seconds in a Formula One car.

  • No car will ever beat a jet powered car.

  • my ferrari calafornia can beat the jet easily

  • human race is crazy heheh

  • rematch

  • 1:02 latah Michael.... 1:24 excuses excuses....

  • god i miss the v12s.

  • wet road

  • ferrari vs f22 raptor ;)

  • thats still pretty close race and on wet pavement, i believe if it was dry he could have won or at least tied

  • @fifafan1 you obviously dont know what 40,000 pounds of thrust is, v12 just dosent stand a chance and this whole idea of wet tarmac what the hell does that have to do with anything if the plane can slingshot like that with ease i think the f1 can too thats just a lame excuse

  • No car will ever beat a Jet.

  • @agz6 it did, 600 meters!! were you not listening!!

  • @dukeofstradone At a short distance the car will leave the plane behind due to the weight difference, but match them at top speeds and see who takes it in the behind.

  • @agz6 Gilles Villeneuve in 1981 beat a jet by 1.2 seconds. This race was done in the wet, I'd love to see this done in the dry and see the Jet loose. Jet's fly them selves, F1 cars take real talent to drive.

  • @bob333336 Jets do require a great deal of talent to fly, try to fly one right now and see what happens.

  • @agz6 How about we talk about this with my Army Mechanic friend who knows how they work inside and out. They fly them selves, you just need to know how to land. Everything is clearly labeled, and if you forget there is a manual in there.

  • @bob333336 The car has an advantage no matter if the pavement is wet or dry because at least it has traction. The car is pushing off of solid ground in order to accelerate. The jet is pushing off of air to accelerate. For that reason, the jet actually accelerates very slow for the amount of power it's producing. If the turbofan engines of that jet were turned into turboshaft engines to drive the wheels, it would accelerate like a missile (if the wheels could keep traction of course).

  • The jet's engines are actually about 50 times more powerful than the car's engine. The only reason they both have similar acceleration is because the jet is much heavier than the car, and more importantly, the jet is pushing off the air to accelerate, while the car is pushing off solid ground. Jet engines have performance characteristics that are physically impossible to match with any piston engine. I'm an aerospace engineer in case you have anymore questions.

  • @agz6 in a 1/4 mile race I beg to differ..

  • @Kdubslugga no shit! the jet takes up time to speed up due to the weight but once it is at full blast, jet rapes car.

The jet can pick up over 1000, the car will disintegrate if you put it through so much speed.

  • @agz6 What about top fuel dragsters and funny cars?

  • @Squidy214 If they can top 1500mph then they will beat the plane.

  • @agz6 a veyron supersport would have.

  • @agz6 Thrust SSC?

  • @agz6 An f1 is not a car. Its a beast, and that f2004 was the best f1 car ever build. In dry conditions Michael would have won

  • @agz6

    and batman´s car ?!

  • @agz6

no car will ever beat a Jet but no car will ever beat the acceleration of F1

  • @afiqhanifah Actually, top fuel dragsters and funny cars can beat the acceleration of an F1 easily.

  • That year Ferrari was NOT using a V12, I have no idea how the narrator messed that up

  • So... Who won?

  • @leangle1988 the plane

  • Good Lord, such power!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • antidmcau why are you comparing the car with the jet?? The jet has to travel through only air.. the car has to drive through a road.. huge resistence.. btw can a jet sound as sweet as an F1 car?? fuck

  • @FERRARIAVI How does the road provide a "huge resistance"? The rolling friction of the F-1's tires is so small, it has pretty much no effect on the acceleration. If anything, the ground is an advantage for the F-1 car, because the car pushes against it to accelerate. The plane has to push against the air to move, which is much harder. And once the plane takes off, it actually accelerates slower because some of its power is being used to lift it up instead of push it forward.

  • even if dry the plane would of won!

  • Wow!!

  • F1 is more fun.. more safe :)

  • give that ferrari wing and fly

  • @PAOHMONGYANG Nope, lose that Ferrari's wing then it'll fly.

  • @PAOHMONGYANG never!!!

  • Ferrari Vs SR-71 Blackbird

  • any decent fighter lettle lone a 5th gen e2000 is going to wax any car or bike in a mile.

  • What a Stupid comparation -_- noob documental -_- Car vs Bike always the bike has got More acceleration but car wins in speed,,,JUST THE SAME,,,here the f1 WIN IN ACCELERATION Because the engine put in movement less pounds than the Jet,,,what is VERY MUCH heaviest than f1

  • The jet always wins what a stupid comparation the jet in the air can go more than 1000 km/h and f1 only 300 -_-

  • @redlinerumble3 this isn't a test of top speed it's a test of relative acceleration. This test shows just how much an f1 car accelerates as it accelerates MORE up until the afterburner kicks in. Don't leave retarded comments if you don't understand the reason for the experiment.

  • y/402 x13.2/900 = 5.8 SECONDS QUARTER MILE TIME ON WET TIRES...Pretty impressive...quater mile is 402 meters and the commentator said it was a 900 meter race. He also mentioned the car finished the race ins 13.2 seconds which means 5.8 seconds quarter MILE TIME on wet tires

  • After watching car after car be spanked by jets, no condition gives the car advantage, as soon as the jet produces lift, the car is done. The top speed and acceleration of a jet are FAR FAR FAR superior to any and every land vehicle

  • @freddyfries619 finally someone with brains, but some jets dont take off as quickly as others, a f16, f15 and f22 can be up really quick, while a F18 is must slower on takeoff because of engine spool. Turbofans do have downfalls.

  • bugatti would win

  • @curfewrukidn You are a dumb ass. Nothing is faster than a fucking F1 race car.

  • next up

    f1 with an Antonov 225 ok !!

  • @nobody468 no bad ;D

  • Well acceleration....come on man its not a boeing its a jet with after burners

  • @CrazyJithin Actually, even a commercial airliner can accelerate surprisingly fast when its empty. Just watch a short takeoff video. An empty Boeing 757 can reach 150 mph in about 12 seconds. Commercials airliners have a lot more power than fighter jets, but a lower power to weight ratio.

  • @jetengine7 Yeah a commercial Airliner is so powerful but still can a commercial Airliner beat an F1 car ?I don't think so.What about a Buggati Veyon? What about a MTT Y2k Superbike?

  • Comment removed

  • @CrazyJithin commercial airliner can beat the veyron and that other car you mentioned it goes 500mph cruising speed obviosly not at take off airliners are heavy and wil need time to speed up but once it goes airborne and starts climbing no chance in hell test it then race from new york to los angeles you in a veyron me in say a boeing 737? whos gonna win? duuh?

  • @houshidar558 LOL I'm sure about that man,While airborne no car can beat a commercial airliner. That's obvious but I was saying about short distance race!

  • @CrazyJithin yeah a bugatti can beat any jet airliner at take off cmon 0-60 in 2.5 seconds

  • @CrazyJithin Of course a commercial airliner won't win in acceleration, but can any car get nearly one million pounds moving at 650 mph like a 747? Not even close, but F1 cars and Veyrons are still pretty impressive anyway. The MTT Y2K has crazy speed and acceleration too, but of course it's turbine powered so that's no surprise.

  • @jetengine7 Yeah that's right...I would love to see a video of Veyron VS Y2k VS F1 car VS Hayabusa(Not limited one)

  • @jetengine7 indeed no car in the world can get a 747 to take off filled with fuel to its max and payload and more impressivley to the speed of sound no car can beat the power of a jet :)

  • the car is completly across the finish line before the jet crosses at 1:33. .. and i know some of you are thinking about, "but what about the times?" to that question i have no answer. .. they did start at the same time so idk. . .alll i know is that what the announcer is saying and what im seeing is 2 differnt things

  • @BlackHoleMass That was the 400 metre mark, not the finish line.

  • ummm i would like to point out a couple of screen shots start @1:31. .. .. anyone notice that the F1 car actually wins???...so an F1 car just beat a jet on wet strip!!...

  • @BlackHoleMass That was the 400 metre mark, not the finish line.

  • No formula one can beat a jet. Racing a 'drag' style race between the two is retarded. Max speed of the EF2000, or an older F16 is quadruple that of the formula one car.

  • you cant compare a jet to a car -_-

  • /watch?v=C3WqXp6QvW0

  • Fighter jet goes into clouds, shoots the F1.... jet wins

  • the point of this race is acceleration not top speed obviously

  • F1 beat an F-16, so its not too stupid of a contest

  • fighter jet wins hands down.

  • what a very interesting scientific experience...... Human stupidity.... tss tss tss........

  • ever heard of horsepower

  • @shadesofblue Fuck You!

  • the only difference is that the typhoon can blow the Ferrari up with one burst of the cannon.

  • @3ISAMAGICNUMBR forget the cannon...if the f-1 car even goes behind the jet, it will disintegrate from the force of the thrust.

  • No doubt only f1s can keep up with jets. Unlike those other wanna be super cars.

  • more than half of mile in 13 seconds? now that is impresive

  • Jet is ofc win!

  • If i was racing a fighter jet in an F1 car, I wouldnt be asking if I could outrun the plane, Id be asking if I could outrun the missile lol

  • tengamos en cuenta que un auto tiene traccion facil en una pista, este jet es un avion..no fueron hechos para picadas como se ve en este video

  • cmon dude it's just a bit of marketing, off course they already know that they didn't had chance, if they was real they probably wouldn't made it in the rain

  • tbh, i'd have the typhoon

  • it was wet, im not sure that is fair.

  • @f1fan65 Even though the ground is wet, the car still has a huge advantage. The car is pushing against something solid, the ground, to accelerate, but the jet has to push against the air to move. That's why the F-1 accelerates quicker at first...not just because of power to weight ratio. If the jet's engines were turboshafts and provided power to the wheels instead of providing thrust, the jet would accelerate so fast, the pilot would black out. But of course then the jet couldn't fly.

  • 5th gear fuck up v10 not v12

  • @MrKinghit yah exactly, v12's had not been used in ages.

  • you cant beat jets, so stop testing them like top gear, thats preeeeeeetty much what the shows about.

  • GO STIG!

  • the f1 had all the advantages with the weight, cars just can't mess with jets

  • This "contest" is INCOMPARABLE to say the least; the F1 has the advantage for sure because of its size and weight...One car/jet contest that was worth watching for was back in 1990 when NHRA Top Fuel great Kenny Beinstein went up against a catapulted F-18 Hornet on an aircraft carrier: both had the launching powers of its own!!!

  • E IO PAGO!

  • Comment removed

  • fuck sumi mercedes ass

  • Its definitely a V10, no V12s for years in F1, the car would also win in the dry as it has more power to put down without wheelspin

  • michael we miss you come back to f1 you are a legend !!!!

  • @welovemusic150 seriously?

  • che sfide cretine

  • the plane would thrash it in the dry

  • if it was dry the f1 would win....

  • NO IT WOULD NOT your f1 car cant do 1500mph can it

  • @oggi911

    Yea,

    but it was not :(

  • @oggi911 it would help, but im not positive it would win

  • @oggi911 i don't think so xD

  • @oggi911 it still would have lost.

  • @oggi911 what do u mean dry??

  • @7150285 ...As in the road... it was wet... If the road is wet then the friction between the tyres and the road is less so the car cant accelerate as quickly (up to 40% less grip). It has no effect on the jet as it doesnt use its wheels to accelerate. In the dry an F1 car will do 0-100mph (160kph) in 3 seconds.

  • @VegnagunII but there's will never be racing that's in the rain.....NASCAR dont race in the rain either

  • @7150285 What are you on about??? F1 always races in the wet, about a third of this seasons races were in the wet... Nascar doesnt race in the wet because the cars are rubbish, they only reason they can even drive round the corners as fast as they do is because of slanted tyres, meaning they can only turn one way.

  • @VegnagunII well, wet racing is just very rare......

  • @VegnagunII nascar races in the wet, obviously you know nothing about watkins glen and nascar.

  • @oggi911 ah not a hope, theres one in the dry, F16 vs spyker f1 car. Sure I know the spyker is prob the worst F1 car ever, or one of them but the power of the jet is way too much. they should do space shuttle vs jet but launch the shuttle sideways like the jet its self lolol, the pilot wouldn't see where he's going

  • @oggi911 Even though the ground is wet, the car still has a huge advantage.

  • @oggi911 even if it was dry the jet still wins dont you get it? the only thing that can beat a jet is a rocket and the speed of light you cant get any car to bet something that can break the sound barrier

  • @oggi911 hahaha fine excuse. the f1 would never win. The EFA2000 is the winner!!

  • @oggi911 Afterburners always win whatever the weather conditions :)

  • im the best

  • these are kinda silly in a way because if they actually took both the speeds off the machines at peak power you really freakin think a car going to win..............not in my freakin life time .......jeese

  • ...per me hanno lo stesso motore!!!!!

  • stupid contest and there are soooo many of em and i love how the narrator is 40,000 lbs of thrust!!! thats nothing if u think about it f-22 has 70,000 lbs and on the the anitov 225 each engine produces 50,000 lbs and there are 6 of them, now thats power 300,000 lbs of thrust

  • Even if the ground was dry and the car won, another second and the jet would overtake the car. I don't think an F1 car can do 1,500 mph or put out 45,000 hp.

  • @jetengine7 a race isnt just about hp it also deals with power to weight ratio

  • well of course the car will lose in the wet. >.> try in the dry the out come would be different.

  • um, V10 not V12

  • im pretty sure they know what they are talking about. its v12

  • No contest!

  • it's wet though i want to see in dry weather

  • lol le jet il avait mis le frein de park et il avait deja les turbo réacteur en marche alors des quil a enlevé le freins de park il est parti direct !

  • what is harder to drive?

  • Probably the car. The Eurofighter has an EFCS, which forbids the pilots to overload the aircraft and also helps keeping the plane within controllable limits, giving it carefree handling.

  • You forget that to pilot a jet, you need to pass alot of tests.

  • eurofighter is faster!!

  • racing against a jet is stupid. The jet has no traction to the ground with its power. it simply moves air which is much harder. Obviously the jet has more power, and will catch up, but all in all this is stupid if u ask me.

  • entertainment

  • We wernt asking

  • and i wasnt answering anyone u dumb shit. Just stating my opinion. Here in America we can do that. Its called freedom of speech. So go fuck urself u little cunt.

  • No one cares, you can state your opinion, but we don't care, we also have free speech here and we're asking wtf are you doing on a video that you're obviously upset by, you can point to free speech, but it shows that in the end ranting and raving like a lunatic about something that you obviously don't care about in the beginning makes you look like an ignoramus, but then again you're from America right?

    Australia 1 - 0 America

    Case closed.

  • @awwwwnaaaa Exactly. I'm glad someone else understands that the f-1 car has a huge advantage even though the ground is wet because the f-1 car is pushing against the ground to accelerate. The jet has to push against the air to move, which is much harder. But even with this great disadvantage, the jet has so much power that it still beats the f-1 car. Now imagine if the jet had turboshaft engines that directed power to the wheels. It would accelerate so fast, the pilot would black out.

  • lie

  • the euro fighter can make shock diamonds?
