This year I completed the second phase of a secret mission which I cannot discuss with you in a publicly viewed comment section. In 2012, I will start the third phase of the secret mission and startle a specific literature section of the intelligent world.
This year I'm going to make the world (the original hard-copy one) more interesting and surprising.
It's high time to remind people of how spontaneous our universe really is.
After reading about LASIK, reading about the science behind it, researching it, and so forth.. I decided it's too freaking scary to get it. Furthermore, it doesn't do a great job to correct vision problems as a person gets older (for instance, near sighted people counter far sightedness as they age). I suggest you research LASIK more.
@darkgreenranger It is freaking scary. I've done lots of research. The surgeon even gave me a 12 page packet of everything that could possibly go wrong. I still think it's worth it to me. My eyes are awful, I've never met somebody more nearsighted than me. The potential positive results outweigh the risks for me. Plus my dad got his eyes done by the same surgeon 5 years ago and has been very happy with the results.
The positive attention of children is one of the biggest compliments one can recieve :)
Next year sounds like it's going to be amazing for you! I wish you the best of luck and I hope that you accomplish everything on your list! I should make a list. It might help combat my complete lack of self-motivation. It feels like there's always so much that I want to do, but that I end up making excuses why I can't do it, or just don't know how to achieve my goals. When it starts to get hard I just quit.
@DreamerRealist I do the same thing, but lists seem to help for me. I'd even go so far as making my own "syllabus" for myself, or a for a certain goal - like what I need to do every day or every week to make sufficient progress towards achieving the goal.
I spent 2010 and the better part of this year studying in China. After graduating from high school I was like "Hey, I wanna go to China" and off I went, haha. Said goodbye to my family and spent one wonderful year there. I didn't know diddly-squat about China or Chinese for that matter. People may call me naive or something like that, but I just had a blast getting to know so many people from all over the world and learning Chinese :-)
2012 - February: Brazil ; March: Hong Kong; June-July: Asia
@91Muzzle I love your attitude about life! I often wish I had taken a gap year after high school...I started college at 17, with no idea what I wanted to do. I think I would have gotten a lot more out of it if I had spent a year in China first. Did you work while you were there, or just study Chinese? What are you going to be doing in Brazil/Hong Kong/Asia?
@tetsubo57 Seriously though, I want to invest in some tools. I own one screwdriver, and that's about it. I think my mom's getting me a flashlight for Christmas.
Sorry to hear you're feeling depressed. Perhaps a new project or adventure or trip might help? Those things always cheer me up.
@alyiswriting If you are serious about getting some tools I can make a few recommendations. Feel free to PM if you wish. I like tools. I carry some on me every day. I have a stacking tool kit in my office next to my computer desk. :)
I feel like I pretty much went though this year on cruise control. I definitely need to set some goal for next year, but I'll have to think for a while about what they should be. Good luck with your new plans, I hope you're able to turn your new year into something seriously amazing.
@justinhabit Cruise control...that's kinda how I've felt this year as well. I hope you come up with some awesome goal ideas for yourself. How about...every day videos with gemllama!? :)
in 2011 I graduated highschool and I backpacked Europe for 4 months by myself. It was amazing and eye opening and after being home for a few weeks now, life here is not the same. In 2012 I am going to Asia to volunteer and moving to a new city which can challenge and inspire me more than where I currently live.
I admire you and your videos and it's awesome that the kids you work with are so excited to see you! That means you are have a positive impact on every one of them, and that is amazing
@kyrarmadillo Thanks so much for your kind words. :) I'd love to hear more about your backpacking trip! I may be planning one for later this new year. I think it's so impressive that you went by yourself! What was your favorite country/city/memory from the trip? What kind of volunteer work are you going to be doing in Asia?
@alyiswriting You have to do it! Travel is incredible! Going alone was tough and scary for the first few days but it really forces you to meet people, I would have missed out on a lot of amazing conversations and experiences otherwise. Best countries were Germany, Spain and Scotland. Favorite memory is difficult, no one has asked me that yet haha. I will be doing marine conservation in Thailand. Where do you want to travel?? If you have any Europe questions I would love to help you out!
You know, I think that it is really brave of you to just...move. I may not know much about adult life (I'm 14), but that takes guts, I think.
I'm going to pursue a lot of things in the new year, and hopefully push myself, like you. I want to get a Future Listography book, and try and focus on making a lot of those goals a reality (Have you heard of the Listography books? I really think you would enjoy them, they are wonderful). Above all, I want a creative and cultured year, I think. :)
@defense360 I still don't know much about adult life either, and moving is more difficult and scary than staying, but I just can't be content on staying in one place right now when there is so much of the world I haven't seen.
I just looked up those listography books on Amazon - they look like so much fun! Thanks for the recommendation. I hope you have a creative and great new year. :)
@neondreamscollide Definitely an accomplishment! I suppose I have a youtube-related achievement this year as well, as I've posted fairly consistently all year. Go us! :)
I encourage you to check out LiNK (Liberty in North Korea) if you're interested in worthwhile charities.
Next year I plan on paying off my student loan because having a loan is like being owned by something. A lot of the things I want to do in life are inhibited by the fact that I have a dept.

Please excuse the preposition.
Wish me luck.

I'm just a student with a wage below average. Yet I think life can be whatever you want it to be. You just need to set priorities :-)
Happy holidays and good luck in 2012 :-)

To be adequately prepared I recommend: 2 good quality LED flashlights, a multi-tool, a good quality one hand opening knife and a machete.
My goal for 2012 is to be less depressed.
