RANDY!!! YES ONE OF THE GREAT LEGENDS FOR SURE!!! great guitar player and tone!!! love that 80's tone in metal!!1 it never dies,,, and killer drummer on this track.......
Ozzy used to talk about when they were on tour and got into a new town Randy Rhoads would find a classical guitar teacher and study with him while they were in town. He was always looking to improve.
@sandtrapdummy I don't compare anyone with anyone. They're all awesome. And as different as snowflakes or fingerprints. I would have loved if Randy hadn't been taken from the world so early....what could he have done, you know? Long live Randy.
i prefer zakk wylde but just thinking, if randy had gotten as old as zakk and had so many more years of experience he would be even better. its a shame, he is on of the biggest what ifs of the guitar world. in my opinion, he would have surpasswd ( if he hadnt already, ahhahah) jimi, halen, page, and god himself on the guitar
i disagree. sure, randy is a child prodigy and an indisputable genius, but zakk wyldes style has so much feeling, while randys feels much more technical.
@Marlever357 We must not forget recently departed Gary Moore...your short list could have gone on for pages...we have sadly lost far too many friggin awesome/life changing musicians. Moore would have to be in any music/guitar lovers top 20
WOW, where has the time gone. This piece was done four days before I got married, and I know how long ago that has been {forever}. Randy was phuking awesome. I knew it then, and still know it today. I never get tired of listening to him tear up those strings!
My bad luck i was born in the wrong generation. Fucking love heavy metal but never got to experience Randy's greatness. Can someone tell me his best and greatest solos so i can go and headbang to what i missed?
@BengalsBlitz In my opinion Mr. Crowley is his best solo.. it's just leaves one drooling at his performance.. but he's decent on any really.. it's Randy.. he was always this good, and was only going to get better :/ RIP Randy
Petrucci is amazing technically wise, I love some of his work but some seems Flashy and fast just for the sake of that. He's way faster then Yngwie though tbh but I can't say he had the SRV soul. SRV was a unique player and he had a whole lot of Hendrix. Well not really because he had an amazing style but that's who influenced him. But I do agree with the Rhythm part.
It wasn't even about technique or speed with Randy, it was about where his playing took a song. His solos weren't just flashy noodling through scales, he actually took the song somewhere else. It was his ability to thrust out his style and feel into the music, it was like he was the song, and it was just speaking for him. He was an extension of his guitar. I remember hearing Ozzy say you could hum Randy's solos, and that says it all.
@spenc193 As well put as anything I could have ever read... To this day, every time I hear one of his solos I will still get a bit of goose flesh. In hippie terms? Shits beautiful man...
If Randy was still around today he would be the best guitarist ever! its a shame he had to go and not continue is legacy, But based on the fact he only played on 4 studio albums the amount of infulence he had in his short years was amazing! R.I.P Father Rhoads.
equipment and technology changes every ten years to say a guitarsit is the best is irrelevant ... these guys are the best during their generation ... theirs no one best player to say some ones better than another person is fucking rubbish ... example ... if i said lightning hopkins was the best player ever you; will get but hurt and tell me skynard or some bullshit is the best but who paves the way ? who inspires ....? if it wasnt for everyone leading up to this generation there would beno randy
Woow... Mr.Crowley with... Randy Rhoads ...this is a jewel 2:10 and 3:59 to end.... finally I hear another version randy rhoads ... of mr crowley ...wooo!
Egads why does that stupid synthesizer have to be sooooo present in the mix? Cranking it thru the soundboard because it has no proper amp of its' own...The keyboard player and randy had some nice interplay with each other...but for the volume...Great performance. thanks for the share.
he plays with so much feeling, you can feel him playing, thats why randy rhodes had such a proufound stamp on rock. short lived but in that short moment so powerful,
its sooo wierd listenin to him now, sooo many ppl dont even know about him and think oh hendrix is the greatest guitarest ever, but in my opinon at the time Rany Rhoads was just on a completely different level, i cant even imagine how amazing he'd be if he was still alive, its jus a shame he had to pass away Rock and Rest In Peace you will always be remembered but never forgotten
@j86malan malmsteen and petrucci arnt anywhere close to as good as randy on the guitar. malmsteen plays the same sweep arpeggios over and over and his sound sucks. if youve heard one malmsteen solo youve heard them all. and ingwie knows nothing about rythms. i saw ingwie live with ac/dc around 84 and angus young blew ingwie off the stage,,, guitar is not about playing a million meaningless notes a second
@jamesmarshall44 : Very difficult to say that today, due to the sheer amouts of techniques that were added in the last full year. Firstly, Malmsteen was the innovator of sweep picking. Pretty impressive. Yes, I agree he is not the best rhythm guy on the planet, but who else can play with a full orchestra?
As for Petrucci, he s one of the very greats. As fast and soulful as anyone. He has Malmsteen's speed, Stevie Ray Vaugann's soul and was a phenomenal rhythm player.
@j86malan It wasn't the speed with Randy. Randy made every note count, every note had a rhyme and reason, it had a meaning, and it had expression. He not only had an amazing extensive knowledge of theory, he had the technique and soul to execute it how it could.
I'm not going to make Yngwie look bad, but he is very good techincal wise, but I feel he's more of a money and not for the music guy. Randy was going to quit with Ozzy and go to get a degree in Classical guitar. He was going to walk
Remember Hendrix didn't have all the effects and and updated sound producing audio that Randy had.. Hendrix was working off of a Marshall stack with cut/blown speakers and a wah pedal.
@hitchason very true, but like i said its just my opinion, most likely cuz i like randys style more then hendrix's ( not saying anything neg about hendrix)
@Stevie9026 hendrix and randy are my two favorite guitarists... but hendrix is just as godly as randy was he was doing stuff in the sixties that nobody had even though off.... look up day tripper by jimi hendrix ..and youll see what I mean..little wing... hendrix was god as well.
@Stevie9026 Well opinions are opinions, but I think Hendrix was the best, since he revolutionized the way of playing guitar, he was completely away of its time. Still, Randy is in my opinion the second, his playing gives me goosebumps :D He has created incredible riffs and solos in such a young age, what a great loss :\
So many levels in his solos, it's mind blowing. I love him as much as I did when I first heard his work in 1988. Thank you Randy for picking up the guitar and making magic! You're amazing!!!

that's how we randy fans are , we just don't flag randy's material even if someone lied on the tittle.
