As far as avoiding the post office could you be more specific about these alternatives you're referring to? You said a "postal place","a box somewhere". What does that mean?
Doesn't offering free shipping end up making many people's insertion fee higher? Since insertion fees are based on your starting bid many people will raise their starting bids to a certain amount to try to cover the shipping cost making the insertion fee higher than if they had started with a much lower starting bid.
Prior to the bidding My customer asked me if I gave him a discount , he would buy 2 of my articles sold in different auctions, I said sure, If you buy them at the price I requested I would give you FREE shipping.
( I was asking for 10 us a piece shipping)
But when I got to my eBay editing area, it didn't allow me changing the shipping costs.
ok but its 10 buks to print lables plus shipping so what i do is save money and wait on line a a local post office were they only charge you for the box with the label already on it saves more money
One question. Is there a rule which should be followed for free Shipping? I recently offered free shipping on an item and ended up paying $10.00 for it out of my pocket. I expected shipping to be around the neighborhood of ~$5.00, but it was double of that. Also if you do offer Free shipping, which services are best to offer?

If you don't go to the post office, then how are you going to ship your item? Call for a carrier? Is it free of service?
