it really bugs me when people call this guy conceited or an ass hole... cuz he's really smart/wise and honest about it. he's the genuine article.
whenever i hear anyone grill this guy, they just sound sooooo ignorant. it's like a trend to hate billy corgan. every new person in my life, mostly hipsters/scenesters, that bitches about corgan's persona is like this red flag that they're full of shit... so in a sense, i guess it's ok that people talk shit about billy cuz it weeds out posers
@therealsolstice He used to be a smart, and wise artist, but you have to know he is an asshole, and the modern pumpkins is a complete joke, the guy goes to court hearings about cracking down on file sharing and music downloading, while he sits in his hollywood mansion with jessica simpson and trys to write a tune that isnt completely boring. I guess he hasnt gone too far of selling out though, after all look at Rivers Cumo. Billy is deffinetly out of his prime for music making.
I like all the pumpkins and even some of Billy's solo stuff. His solo album was weak but it had some songs I liked. The stuff he did on the "Spun" soundtrack is amazing though. I really liked "Think you know"
@kowtpr187 his solo album is really good. granted the yt vids of it are 'just ok', but if you can get a copy of the whole solo album and listen to it, with its pure sound, i think you might like it. i don't listen to it much cause i only have it on hard drive somewhere, but i know its a gem i like and look forward to listening to when get my files straightened out one day. get the clean non-video versions, it sounds fantastic. Plus, pure billy stripped down to solo work? who can complain?
@immeohmyoh ughhhh....Its so bland to me...the electronica elements are really boring and stale. I just really wasn't impressed and apparently many others were not. Ive heard the whole album. it had terribles record sales I know. Everyone has their own opinion, but I thought it was mediocre at best.
Adore was a very weak album. It doesn't sound anything like the Smashing Pumpkins that their fanbase had grown to love.
Now, people ask why bands like the Stones or Zep lasted and have such huge fanbases? Because they know their sound and they stay with it. The Pumpkins did not on this record and a large part of that was no Jimmy Chamberlain on drums. There were drum machines and 3 different drummers used on this record, that doesn't equal harmony in a recording environment.
If by true fan, you mean enjoying something that is just not very inspired simply because they are performing under the moniker of SP, then no I am not a "true fan". But that type of thinking seems very sophmoric.
just because Billy Corgan does have a sense of "mixing" his own songs to something different ( in sounds), it doesnt mean its "homoerotic" as the comments said below. It only shows Corgan sense of reality and intellectuality
You obviously have never been to their concerts. In fact you probably just crawled out from under some little rock to post your comment. Its obvious that the feeling of their set is laid back and relaxed. Thats the point of the storyteller episode. You are right that its a different direction for the original. 4:15 doesnt prove anything you fool. Its very obvious that the crowd is actually singing along, which in my book, isnt a bad thing at all. Go join the circus.
This reminds me of Just like Heaven. Strange...

Pumpkins are NOT the Pumpkins without Jimmy C on drums.

So Adore wasn't the Pumpkins???

So, no they were not the Pumpkins on Adore, hence the quick return of Jimmy and return to their sound on the following records.

If you think adore is very week I pity your taste!
hattrickpete 2 years ago 4
I would expect that comment from a "newrock" pumpkins listener. Come back with a more discerning ear for quality music and I will listen.

Been listen since 1993 - So do one Beardy.

The beard filters bad music like what was given to us on Adore aka Abhor.
Elfajah 2 years ago
while Adore definitely wasn't their best work, it is a quality record that only a true pumpkins fan would appreciate.

There are few bands i can close my eyes and just enjoy the music.
Smashing Pumpkins were that rare.
They got into your soul and once inside you fell in love forever.

I agree...this song is not as powerful without the drum program pattern, reverb vocals and such but i would still fuck your mom to see this show.

I'm sorry, but this is maybe the weakest version I've ever seen (and I've seen them live several times). Look at the crowd at 4:15.
But honestly, they should have kept to the normal format of the song. This one's way too out there (in a bad way).
And the keyboards dont make it better.
