Aleister Crowley in basic sense found a religion that benefitted MAN in every way. He wanted to find a religion or spiritual experience that would meet every mankind's desire. He wanted man to be the center of all things. "Doest thou Wilt" was his law. This is the basic teaching of Satanists, is to live your life the way you want it with no rules and authority. I've studied Satanism for many years and also I've studied Aleister Crowley's thelema. Do i have degrees to back up what i say, no, but I have helped many Satanists. If you are trying to tell me that Thelema means to find YOUR OWN way in life, i would agree, that is what it means. I believe that is one definition of what Thelema means but it also has other meanings. For instance, you choose what seems right, you plan everything, you are the center and everything revolves around you.

Thelema doctrines and principles and its foundation is finding YOUR WAY which there is no god or God but you are the god. As god, you choose your destiny, your paths, your dreams, your life, and you choose your own laws to live by. Thelema does practice summing up demons but you are still god. Thelema exalts one self in this world above all others. Thelema teaches to love yourself first and you are more important than anythign.

if you have read his work to any degree then its very clear that he investigated the origins of all the so called world religions and found them all to be hypocritical and lacking common sense, he dared to speak his mind and was different. that is his real crime in the eyes of the holy rolling world. it adds to a challenge and so false accusations must be made. sure he had a dark side but he was real and seeking truth . which is more than most who claim to be Gods people can handle

Crowley was a big publicity freak, and his chief goal was to get as much attention as he could.
He did successively bizarre things to keep himself in the limelight. But when he died, he was living in a one-room apartment in Picadilly and NOBODY took him seriously anymore. Nothing he said or did could get his name in the papers.

Oen of the most interesting things about such discussions is that it proves that some people really will believe while reinforcing the need to teach people how to evaluate evidence--or even what evidence is. Clearly some people don't know the difference between unsubstantiated claims published by a nonacademic press and, well, evidence. Not to mention statements made on Wikipedia of all places. Amusing reactions from people who don't enjoy being challenged is just a plus.

Most experts think that people's sexual preferences exist on a curve - calling Crowley a "homosexual" with the implication that he preferred sex with men, is incorrect in a number of ways. If one has to label him at all, "bisexual" would be more appropriate. And "he should be" when applied to sexuality is beside the point. We are what we ARE.

I take that point into consideration and appreciate it, but in this particular case Crowely has been documented stating that he prefers the company of men rather than women so perhaps the term "homosexual" does indedd fit him best according to your source of info. Aliester Crowley was NOT a satanist. His teachings are about embracing emotions like anger and happiness and meditating on them to gain personal power not power from some deity. He was a yoga master, an adept with left hand tantra, a mountain climber etc.... His teaching were based in abandoning the ego and learning your true will which in theory is actually not much different from christianity. He also taught of an approaching new aeon which in fact is occuring. The age of Horus awaits!!!!!!!

according to my religious beliefs i do not think at all that Crowley was an Antichrist. Although he dedicated much of his life towards 'evil' there were some good aspects of him, and although he was a very pro-do-what-you-like-kinda guy reading his confessions i was surprised that a man like him looked at some good in my religion Islam which is very misunderstood in this day in age by some. And there are quite a few things that he said towards life in general that do make actually make sense.
