@Dotchetter this is true, good call. trac loc D44a can not be locked. That's what I mean when I tell people its harder to lock a 5.9 then It is most others. You need to swap axles. I picked up a direct swap Open carrier Danna 44A axle out of a 97-ZJ // Geared to 4.56 then I just purchased a Aussie Locker from someone on Jeep Forum . Putting it in was easy, No need to set up gears or even remove carrier. Just pop out the spiders and replace with Aussie Locker components.
@Downfacingdog And home owners and people who eat food, drive cars, drink water, use hydro, buy products, watch tv, use a computer...etc etc etc. Are you innocent? Ever seen a mining, logging or fishing operation? Do you know how many hectares of forests are lost on a daily basis to provide crop lands that are unsustainable mono-cultures? Do you know how many species we lose in a day as a result of industrialization? Please, jeeps are not the problem. Thanks.
@ADEMILY87 I wish I could have it under a warranty!!!!. I have never ever put a claim in to an Insurance company. If I break it, I fix it. That does tend to suck when its my only Daily Driver. It would have been nice to have someone else pay for and replace my transmission last week.
I would love to do this shit to my niner but I have my jy for bush bashing lol. We bought the cherokee as a 'family wagon' but I still go take the paint off it once in a while.
In my country these are usually fueled with compressed natural gas (15 % less power, 4 times cheaper). But driving this on gasoline seems like a pain in the ass.
Anyway, the 5.2 can easily get to 260hp, it's more than enaugh.
@drippinblood28 The kns book calls for immediate 25 hp upgrade with cai install. The 5.9 comes with 250 hp stock. That puts you at 275 before exhaust work. You could easily hit 300 with exhaust, cai and ignition upgrades. The 350 ft lbs torque is a lot of fun too. Too bad about cast aluminum axle housing. I love my niner! This truck is not a niner The engine may be but either the hood has been replaced or the engine was swapped. Nice rig nonetheless. I don't think it came in those colors either.
@drippinblood28 Every cai I have ever had added some pep. Maybe one day I will tell you. I have a niner. Been meaning to get a cai for it since forever. Oh well.
@Hortgeek The jeep started its life as a Stock 5.9 when I got it, except the paint Job!! In order to lock this jeep front and rear, The entire drive drain had to come out. there are no locker applications for a stock 5.9 rear axle. with the exception of the 5.9 motor and upgraded waterproof re46 trans plus the interior. the entire jeep has been upgraded from the uni-body down. New 4.56 gears lockers axles springs 8 control arms sway bar links, trac bars bumpers winch tires. Want the vin #?
@mikesadass I don't want the vin lol. I like the truck bud! It was just missing the biggest telltale sign of a niner. Not trying to criticize just interested.
@Hortgeek Thanks bud! the Hood louvers are there, I am going to look at some of my other videos to see if they show up better in a different video. I just noticed how much my jeep changed since this video. I now have bigger tires, winch bumper and winch, As well as more clearance for 35's now with the bushwhacker fender flairs. and I know I now have 8 upgraded adjustable flex control arms with the Hiem joints underneath. I think one of my videos shows this. I need to post more
@Jormungandr69 I have no idea, but nobody (by nobody i mean someone who does not promote a company) has made a real life comparison dyno test with CAI vs no CAI
@Jormungandr69 that's another misconception. the free flowing exhaust will help with mpg, but the CAI wont even though most companies claim it and everyone believes it. Basically there is always a constant fuel/air ratio in the engine...so if the engine gets more air it is also using gas!
I love my Jeep. I've got a 1996 JGC with the in-line six 4.0 liter engine. Nothing fancy but it gets me where I want to go. Only got stuck once, when I ran into a snow covered culvert. I still like the first edition of the Grand Cherokee the best. Just a good reliable go-anywhere vehicle that still looks like a Jeep. (And, yes, I know that to the purists out there the only true Jeep is the Wrangler but, let's face it, their capabilities and mechanicals are pretty much the same anyway.)
@livetoride4201 I cannot speak for the owner, but for the most part, snorkels run upwards of 350 for a NIB one...less if you make it yourself obviously. Beyond that, some silicon and breather tubing for $10 goes pretty far..

@homes24 The snorkel is part of the modifications to prevent the Jeep from stalling/Hydro-locking, Along with the snorkel I have modified all my breather vents to higher ground, including dropping my transmission to add a vent tube. I have also added silicon to the seal of the distributor and a few other minor mod's to make the Jeep more water tolerant. I have been wheeling mainly in rocks lately, but look forward to a little more scuba driving soon.
how did you lock the rear? If its the stock Dana 44 alu with trac lock ive heard there are no lockers available for it?

Nice 5.9, With high flow air intake and low resistance exhaust you will get 300hp =) Not to mention riculous torque...

@Hortgeek adds a little bit of pep and a nice whoosh sound, but not much of a significant power increase (15 hp max)

@drippinblood28 If the 5.9 has the same exhaust and intake as the 5.2, you will get much more than 15hp.
