WARNING DO NOT READ THIS! In 1875 died a little girl named Hioshia in Japan. Her father drowned her in a well and disappeared since then but was killed 12 hours later by the girl's ghost. Now you have read this and if you do not spread it to at least 3 video in 3 hours, the girl's ghost and kill you at midnight
Now I really feel old. I remember watching this particular Commander USA segment when it first aired. I think this one was from Summer '87. Anyone recall when they stopped doing the Commander USA bits on USA? I used to watch him pretty regularly, then I stop for what seemed like a couple of months and poof! Gone! Whatever happened to this guy? This show was the last of it's kind, I was sad to see it go.
Yeah, I beleive it was from 87. This show was definetly a product of the 80s. It ended in 1989. The guy who played Commander lives in New York. He does plays. And he made an appearance on like a CSI or whatever as a doorman a couple years back.
Thanks for clearing that up. It was always one of those weird pop culture mysteries that I had in the back of my mind. "What happened to Commander USA?" I finally know.
Boy, this takes me back. Maybe it's the little starbursts on the Commander's knees, but I'm getting a definite lucha libre vibe. Some down on his luck Mexican wrestler should mimic the gimmick.
HO-ly CATS! This was a great show. My favorite thing was after the scene in INFRA-MAN where the giant Infra-Man defeats the monster and steps on him, it cut to Commander USA's boot squashing jelly out of a rubber chicken.
I use to watch this on saturdays with my babysitter, we would go to the pizza parlor a block from my parent's apartment grab a large pepperoni and a couple of two litres and go back and watch this
I loved watching the Commander every Saturday! I even used to imitate his "yeah sure" phrase, lol! Great show and I wish USA Network would revive the Commander.
I especially remember the CHUD episode, which I see is also posted here. Yup, this is a classic sort of approach to the old movie deal, sort of a mix between afternoon chiller theater and a kids show. A step away from MST3k but a classic in its own way. Holy cats!
I wonder if anyone has the little scene from INFRAMAN: Right after Inframan squashes a monster with his giant foot in the movie, we cut to the Commander's boot stepping on a rubber chicken and squishing applesauce out of it.
Hey! Holy cats! It's good to see that I'm not the only one who remembers the good Commander. I thought I'd seen all the Gamera movies, but I don't think I've ever seen Gamera vs Baroogin.
I loved this show. I watched it every weekend. This and USA UP ALL NIGHT.

I miss this so much. Jim Hendricks(Commander USA) is apparently still alive, thank goodness.

yea I noticed that too. Even the narrator at the introduction mispronounces it. Baroogen! lol!
Craigers22763 4 years ago
I remember him well, but they pronounced the movie wrong. It's pronounced barahgon, not baroogin

"Let's both watch the movie and offer pithy commentary."
Looks like they just missed beating Mystery Science Theater 3000 to the punch.

Didn't watch this show as often as I would have liked, I guess Commander USA was the last of his kind.
