We used to say "slide down my rain barrel onto my cellar door" which makes sense historically as this is a rhyme from the 1800s, I believe -- no one has a rainbow to slide down -- and you don't slide INTO a cellar door! Cellar doors were slanted doors on the outside of a house leading under the house where root vegetables and things were kept over long periods of time in sand.

I just had to come here to find that song. My mum used to sing it to me when i was very young ( 1960's) and told me today her mum used to sing it to her when she was a little girl ( she is 72yrs old) so indicates the age of the "original" version of the song....
