He hasd improved very little since he came on the scene, same basic tapping, same crappy picking technique no wonder he can't play really fast when his hand is so strained and not relaxed. Vai has paid his dues... over 30 years and still a successful, provocative, and interesting musician. Whereas most guitarists from his era never changed or grew or created something new with their playing. Vai is a pure innovator.
