no idea what prejudice is....the fact is that when she grows up she will experience discrimination and criticism just becuase her mother is black..lucky for her her mother is famous..inmagine an average child.
Elaborating on the concept I mentioned below, "Individually, you must change to see a change come about in the world." Again she abstractly covers this but I think it would have been much more effective if she had emphasized this to the Nth degree in layman's terms, that is, "Individually, you must change to see a change come about in the world." Reminds me of the works of Dan Millman and his book, "The Peaceful Warrior" and also the writings of J. Krishnamurti and his essays on prejudice.
We're suppose to be prejudiced? What "is", is? I see the "shock treatment" Byron Katie was using to try to get us to understand prejudice. As she briefly mentioned, the key to eradicating prejudice begins with YOU and with that the true essence of love! The concept of it being "unloving" NOT to let someone have their prejudices - interesting! Be a lover of "what is". Let our differences to be acceptable. Individually, you must change to see a change come about in the world.
To clarify a point above, I wasn't saying Byron is saying we're suppose to be prejudiced. I was saying she was using the statement, "We're suppose to be prejudiced" as a kind of shock treatment to get us to think about what prejudice is all about.
Wow! Great to see, how our story about others seperates us from them - and how these stories teaches us in such a loving and clear way, how we want to live. If we only question our thoughts with Katies The Work. :)
I love to see Rae Dawns face, when she sits in her realisations.
I loved the part where Byron Katie said without this story of prejudice RaeDawn "would be what we don't have the awareness of yet...we would Finally have a teacher without prejudice."
@ideasforfeeling Its so cool , I think I get the point , our beliefs
of others is like a mirror to ourselves ...is that true ?
