Yeah. Instead of wasting your money on healthy food you can spend it on medical to be treated for the illness that will come about because of poor nutrition.
box of dollar store hamburger helper = 1.00; oriental store fresh tofu = 1.79 for four big pieces (45c each). mash one block of tofu, add to hamburger helper. four servings = 50c each!!!
@binayt - the voice IS creepy but regardless of that - there are other ways to eat than buying packaged foods and they are healthier. Dried beans and rice make a complete protein and you can get them cheaply in a bulk food store or even a walmart. same with dried fruit and veg - in a bulk store you can buy all sorts of healthy alternatives. true there is no meat but TVP is a good equivalent - you can't tell the difference in a stew. discount racks in a grocery. gleaning & free food programs, etc
I could see this working if you took vitamins to supplement your nutrition (whole food vitamins not the synthetic crap), buy in bulk if you can, try to get only natural foods, no artificial ingredients, additives, preservatives, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup ect..& should be okay :)
@liza4u77 I was on this diet for several months. I have since added spinach, like someone below mentioned and more fruits and I quit eating processed meats and cook most of my meats from scratch. I also rarely eat out now as I have become used to home cooked food.
@Qorab ,i really dont see the fascination with the americans and peanut butter.its full of fat and not really a nice taste.im afraid the u.s has the worst food in the world, only lots of it.
@1400deadwood: This period was during the time when my brother-in-law was serving his 3rd tour in Iraq. I felt guilty enjoying myself when I knew what he was going through.
Punishing yourself is not the way to show your moral support for his efforts. If I may, I would venture to guess he would want for you to live and eat well in accordance with the American ideal of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Therefore, in his honor, eat your spinach!
@RavenBlaze ~ not quite enough. You need to eat spinach and other green leafy veggies to strengthen your immune system. Recently, our local super market sold 10 cans of Del Monte veggies for $1 each. You could buy several months supply for only $10! Just imagine what good that could do you. Eat well, live well.

How about buy a bag of beans (even organic sometimes) and that can be about a $1 in most places. They will last you awhile and they're filling.

Peanutbutter without hydrogenated oil is high in protein as well as natural fat (which is helpful for energy when rationing one's intake).
Individuals with certain disabilities use computer generated voice to communicate.
It's my understanding canned veggies are zapped of nutrients during canning process; frozen is better, sometimes, than even fresh.
Sometimes eating cheaply, depending on resources; cash, transportation, etc., isn't the most nutritious, but serves the purpose.
