  • Such a good song but kind ov a sad video but thumbs up 4 me!

  • Such a beautiful song!

  • The song Bright Eyes was actually written by Mike Batt, who also wrote the Wombles theme British 70s children's tv programme

  • LOVE IT, always have and always will!

  • this video is a very sad but moving excellent film ever made ...

  • I love love love this! - Great video 'MartiniMix77' - straight to my Playlist... Thank you for this upload!

  • Seven people have a swinging brick where their heart should be

  • Beautiful video!!

  • so sad

  • sniff... a wonderful film that makes you jerk some tears and a song so beautiful I'd like it to be played at my funeral.

  • It's a really SAD SONG!!!

    I CRYE!

  • ive watched film and listend to bright eyes n always get a lump in my throat, quality film and im 33 lol man!! brings bk old school day memorys eh?

  • Amazing, so touching.

  • not aloud to feel draems

  • This song never seizes to upset me. And this story never seizes to amaze me. It's Truly a remarkable tale...

  • Gorgeous movie. Sick of people saying it gave them nightmares.

  • read the book, seen the film and ate the pie! LOVELY

  • im buying a rabbit this week

  • oh no,,tears....

  • @ Dyynamo Paul play's the guitar

  • I saw the movie when I was about 8. Me and my sister cried rivers, still gets me a little emotional. Beautiful song

  • Paul Simon had nothing to do with this. It was a solo effort by Art Garfunkel, and the song was written by Mike Batt.

  • It reminds me of the Palestinians and their struggles. One day brothers you will too will be home.

  • i watched this as a kid with my sister and now it makes me cry. Ive noosed rabbits and shot hundreds of them and when a movie make you think 'maybe they have feelings too' it gets to me.

  • freedom to Cyprus!!!!!!!

  • @spongebobsquarejocks bye then

  • This is to this day this is a remarkable and untouchable movie. Bright Eyes has and will forever be one of my favourite songs...it reminds me of the end but also a new beginning. Cry every time. Great vid! Thanks for the upload!

  • I saw this in the early 80s from our neighbors betamax and Mom rented the tape for us to watch. its now 070211 and I forgot the title of the movie, until now.. Every time I here the song I remember the rabbits running. I think mom rented the tapes because he thought this is for children to enjoy. It really for grown ups. And I remember it was noon and the sky was like glowing amber and so was everything... hehe . How I wish life was simple now. Thank you for the post...

  • this song was made for wartership down!

  • i sobbed my heart out. i didnt think i would cry but i sobbed so much. the ending even though happy, also made me cry too.

  • I LOVE IT XXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • This is the first film i started to cry to, it just has that effect on you

  • I only saw the end part of this movie... I wish i saw the full thing because i was so damn confused...

  • I've never seen this movie but fuck it looks depressing.

  • Bloody hell, I'm in tears. Brings back so many childhood memories for me this. The book especially had a big effect on me back then.

  • Ondanks het gegeven dat dit liedje er bij die tekenfilm hoort doet dit me er aan een speciaal persoon in mijn leven denken.

  • I know I'm probably in the wrong for having watched the movie first, but the bright side is that it's made me want to read the book! So I think I will.

  • sweeet, I <3 rabbits :*

  • @TheGirli100 dear god that was a retarded remark

  • The bad rabbit used to scare the crap out of me as a kid... Then as i got older i found the whole film sadder. Still watch it ever year. Even our lurcher likes it, all i think now is Tastier than Tescos. How do they make those films so sad? im sure it is the music not the images? or is it both?

  • I cried twice...

  • I was told about this movie...I cried twice ...the song goes great with the movie...

  • If any studio dares think they can remake this movie...

  • @bkatt500 I wouldnt mind a pixar remake.

  • Water ship down is fucked up

  • i seriosly cried during this. I love this book and movie, and.. it sounds sad... :(

  • Just beautiful. thanks.

  • I seriously had no idea this was a popular song at all until I heard it on the radio one day and was like, "wait this was in Watership Down".

  • it makes me think how we are only here from spring to fall, and how we should cherish one another and not fight or go to war

  • They played this at my good friend's funeral yesterday. RIP Ken. God bless you.

  • Heard this song the night of my friends funeral, made me cry..

  • Great damn song and movie ! not for kids

  • Would love this film in 3D!

    Bobby

  • wonderful :-))

  • Great Video, I love this song and I love the Movie.

  • I remember being a child and my dad playing this song to make me cry just to love me better rip dad i love u so much and miss u with all my heart xxx

  • love this movie.. Sad song.. It makes me cry

  • this movie was shown to me by my sisters who saw it when they where six at the time they showed it to me I was like 10 or 12 I cried at the end when hazel died it reminded me of our rabbit who layed on his side and just stopped breathing. Everytime I watch this movie the part where bright eyes plays makes me cry like a baby

  • theres my movie!!! i saw this when i was 3.. so sad poor hazel!!

  • I'm nearly 40 years old, and a rufty tufty builder, and watching this for the first time since I saw this at the cinema as a 7 year old, I'm sat here with tears in my eyes. I'd have never believed it :)

  • yayyy I love this song! I sing it spontaneously sometimes and for the longest time I couldn't remember where it came from. :D thank you! <3

  • i thought i was doing pretty well nd then the ending got me... :"{ reminds me of me own bun

  • I saw this movie in 1978, and i have some doubts if i must show it to my kids

They love rabbits very much and won't like the death of one of them.

But , nevertheless, it contains also many things that happen in real life, so it will teach them more than just misery..

I thought of it as a very beautiful, but sad movie, because i expected a happy end.

    Now i know better.

  • Wonderful presentation. Thank you, this brings back many good memories of better times. More of the same please.

  • I was about 10 when I saw Watership Down in the cinema. Thank you for reminding of the best visual and audio aspects of it.

  • one thing I hate about the film is how they f*ck up Hazel's death it's not supposed to be a bloody and brutal murder i's supposed to be peacefully in old age

  • @ripthefranks that is how he died in the movie.......:/

  • @ItsCarmenJones oh my bad :P

  • @ripthefranks Hazel did die peacefully at the end. El-ahrairah said that he knew Hazel was tired, and asked him to join his Owsla. It was at that point that Hazel lay down and died.

  • @LyanaIshtar1106 I read the book and watched the movie. Actually, it was the Black Rabbit of Inle that asked Hazel-rah to join his Owsla. But still, he did die peacefully...

  • Great song/movie but the ending is a bit abrupt

  • @SmithyBoyOllie this song was also played at my grandpa's funeral. He died at his birthday. I keep on crying when I hear this.

  • @Boeckeltje awww

  • agreed wiv nikkimoll

  • This touches my heart.

Though, I still recall that bird saying "piss off!"

  • the end is kinda weird

  • Beautifully done...

  • WHY DO I CRY EVERY TIME?! :'( :'(

  • Hi. I love this song !.

I am 13 yrs old from UK. I have uploaded a clip of me SINGING BRIGHT EYES.

** I would love some feedback on my clip **

and SUBSCRIBE if you like it as I have lots more coming soon.

"Tears in Heaven" also uploaded recently. Thanks ;-)

  • och no poorlies bunnies. :-(

  • THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE VERsIOn!!!

  • For me this movie was a cross between Bambie and The Texas Chainsaw Masacre. Peter rabbits shouldn't have to go through this slaughter.

  • Classic!

  • i watched this high, it changed my life.

  • Eyes - mirrors of Static itself. :)

  • I have only seen this film once - never again. Lovely song - horrible film.

  • @showhiminbailey

What didn't you like about it?

  • ik moet altijd huilen bij dit nummer

  • This song remnds me of my dead cat... He was almost 14 years old. I lovw this movie and the song! it makes me cy every time I hear it! T_T Its impossible to not cry! Anyone who doesnt cry to this song is cold hearted my friend said when I showed this to him. Its sooo sad when Hazel dies!

  • @Alvin1the1chipmunk

It's not sad he just moves on, like we all have to someday...

and he was asked to join the ghost-rabit thing and he aggreed willingly

  • this song reminds me of my brother when he died and he was little and i didnt get to see him i was only little

  • @savannah596 how old was him????

  • @Spiderwick1989 3 mounths

  • @Spiderwick1989 ABOUT 1

  • Soooooooo sad

  • God this film made me cry when i watched it back in 1979 :9 still does

  • as for squirrells

i know if i got one to come to me the cats would kill it.

its dr doolitlle syndrome. long time ago when i was covered in shight day in dayout i got all kindasa animales near me

  • last few days i have been watching squirrels.

i have put out all kinds a food purely for my inpuit to the cycle f nature.

today my mind os on squirrells.

    why? why not?

rabbits? why kill them when you dont need to?

if you are the superior hunter then you can scare vermin away from where you dont want them.

if your just an ignorant human then kill kill kill

  • i had forgotten this from when i was a kid this i believe is the apex of this tune

maybe in future this will be sung better but for now its the dogs

and this video encapusaltes it all

    i was born in 70

im in proces of playing tis tune on low d and high d whistles.

ive no aims to beat this tune, if what6 i make sounds close then ill b happy

  • wow.

    this is moving.

    gets me every time

(just need to forget about the emotional rabbit rollercoster)

  • I heard that the guy who wrote this song went out onto his estate and started shooting all the rabbits!

  • I'm sorry.... you have failed

  • omg I cry every time i hear this song

  • When Fiver went to look for Hazel and they played this song I cried so hard... even though i read the book and knew what was going to happen... =)

  • Man, the general rabbit still scares the shit out of me!!!

  • .. bright eyes , burning like fire , bright eyes , how can you close and fail how ca a light that burns so brightly suddenly burn so pale .. bright eyes :)

  • this song always brings a tear to my eye xx my dad used to read the books to me when i was little but i never really understood them but now that i do i love this song ... its so sad :( .. but beautiful :)

  • oh god, i'm blubbing again!

  • WTF?

  • Such a beautiful and yet haunting song at the same time. Thanks for posting this. Very well done video.

  • Wonderful! *sniffs* The scene when Hazel just laid down and died to find rest and followed Elarah ... I loved the movie, it's fantastic. I like the series though.

  • I did not know this many people could write such wonderful comments, i havn't seen the movie or read the book but it looks like an amasing movie. the blood scares me alot though... wonderful song.

  • It's a very good book, and a very good movie as well. I was glad the film didn't pull any punches when it came to the political aspects of the story, as well as the violence. It was pretty intense seeing rabbits ripping each other to shreds as a kid when I first saw this. I read the book years later and then rewatched the film and enjoyed it even more.

  • it's soo touching this song the movie...and I want to read the book as well.

lol I still watch the movie sometimes, I just put the video in the VCR and sit back :D

  • (SOBS!)

  • I was 4 when this movie was made and even though I didn't know what it was about back then or what the lyrics meant, Bright Eyes became my favorite song. Smehow I memorized the words and when I couldn't sleep, I would sing myself to sleep. To me the song was more like a lullabye than anything. Parts of the movie scared the daylights out of me (still does even though I've seen the movie quite a few times.) I still cry everytime the rabbits fight, when Hazel dies or any animal dies in the movies.

  • I wish more people knew about this song and movie D: It's such a beautiful song, and a good movie. I love em :'3

  • Love the book. Love the movie. Love the song. Just awesome all the way around.

  • I watched this movie (and read the book) when I was younger and holy crap did it frighten me to no end :( I still find it disturbing. *_*

  • Beutifull song. :')

  • I Will watch this 100 times before I get bored.

great footage of an amzing movie.

  • i watched this when i was young.....

it is so beautiful to see this now

  • it is amazing.....very touching simply lovely

  • no matter how many times i hear this song, i always have a tear in my eye.

  • @KEVINMCCLEAVE I watched it wen i was young at my grandads in the 80's.......so moving......and i'm not ashamed to say it almost makes me cry now too

  • You did a lovely job with the editing, and it's a wonderful song/film. I just want to say, though, that this is one Paul Simon had nothing to do with (as far as I know, Simon and Garfunkel sometimes did backup on each other's solos)

This song was written by Mike Batt - both music and lyrics. Art Garfunkel sings the lead.

  • one of the most haunting melodies ever and the film is one of the bets I've seen

  • Thats is such great movie it makes me cry

I love this amv you did a great job on it

  • great editing.

this is my first post on youtube. Jus wanted to let you know you did a proper job of making a video branching off from the original black rabbit scene

  • Früher als ich klein war, habe ich das immer nach der schule geguckt :)

Ich hab keine Folge verpasst :)

  • Allez, je regarde encore un p'tit coup avant d'aller dormir ! c'est trop mignon, rafraîchissant !

  • we played this at my mothers funeral as her knick-name was Bright Eyes, I loved it long before and have ever since, so beautiful ..... Yes: where do we go:

  • As far as animated films go, Watership Down is up there with Wall-E and Spirited Away as one of the best ever in my book.

  • i remember this song and the movie i was like 7 or 8 lol its great brings back memories thanks

You did a beautiful job xxxxxxxx thank you

  • the images match the lyrics quite nicely

  • sow sad 1:46

  • this is sow good but sow sad

  • This film was mate for children and you must be very sick to imagine anything else other than a cartoon for little kids???

  • I am not sick peterioann i just excpect shagging, drugs and violence in every movie i see.

  • One of my favorite films,.....with a very beautiful song to go along with it. The part where Fiver is looking for Hazel after he was shot and the death of Hazel always made me cry.

  • Love this movie.

  • I remember when this song stayed at no.1 for six weeks. Typically in USA it did`nt even chart which is not surprising since the americans would`nt know a good song if they heard one.

  • This song is so sad but so good. SmithyBoyOllie, thats really sad. I almost cried reading your comment. Sorry for the Loss. :(

  • how touching i remeber seing this when i was a wee nipper allways used to get to me

  • @SmithyBoyOllie Very sorry to hear of your brother. My brother died at 21 in an automobile accident in 1994. This is a Lovely song that tugs at your heart!

  • @SmithyBoyOllie sorry to hear about your brother. i lost my mom 2 yrs ago to cancer, she was from england and this movie reminds me of her. i remember being a kid and seeing this. in my 30s now, it brings back a nostalgic feel. i forgot all about this movie, god it brings back such memories. i understand your loss, i suffer everyday and think about my mother everyday. seems like this movie reminds others of the people they loved and lost , strange. gets me teared up.
