why should we keep our children in a bubble/fairy land.... this film shows the true reality with animals & the only major thing separating us from the animals, is our ability to speak. sorry kids... rabbits don't talk!! I wish this bright eyes song could be my alarm so my tears could wash away the sleep in my eye's.
i watched this as a kid with my sister and now it makes me cry. Ive noosed rabbits and shot hundreds of them and when a movie make you think 'maybe they have feelings too' it gets to me.
This is to this day this is a remarkable and untouchable movie. Bright Eyes has and will forever be one of my favourite songs...it reminds me of the end but also a new beginning. Cry every time. Great vid! Thanks for the upload!
I saw this in the early 80s from our neighbors betamax and Mom rented the tape for us to watch. its now 070211 and I forgot the title of the movie, until now.. Every time I here the song I remember the rabbits running. I think mom rented the tapes because he thought this is for children to enjoy. It really for grown ups. And I remember it was noon and the sky was like glowing amber and so was everything... hehe . How I wish life was simple now. Thank you for the post...
I know I'm probably in the wrong for having watched the movie first, but the bright side is that it's made me want to read the book! So I think I will.
The bad rabbit used to scare the crap out of me as a kid... Then as i got older i found the whole film sadder. Still watch it ever year. Even our lurcher likes it, all i think now is Tastier than Tescos. How do they make those films so sad? im sure it is the music not the images? or is it both?
this movie was shown to me by my sisters who saw it when they where six at the time they showed it to me I was like 10 or 12 I cried at the end when hazel died it reminded me of our rabbit who layed on his side and just stopped breathing. Everytime I watch this movie the part where bright eyes plays makes me cry like a baby
I'm nearly 40 years old, and a rufty tufty builder, and watching this for the first time since I saw this at the cinema as a 7 year old, I'm sat here with tears in my eyes. I'd have never believed it :)
one thing I hate about the film is how they f*ck up Hazel's death it's not supposed to be a bloody and brutal murder i's supposed to be peacefully in old age
@ripthefranks Hazel did die peacefully at the end. El-ahrairah said that he knew Hazel was tired, and asked him to join his Owsla. It was at that point that Hazel lay down and died.
@LyanaIshtar1106 I read the book and watched the movie. Actually, it was the Black Rabbit of Inle that asked Hazel-rah to join his Owsla. But still, he did die peacefully...
This song remnds me of my dead cat... He was almost 14 years old. I lovw this movie and the song! it makes me cy every time I hear it! T_T Its impossible to not cry! Anyone who doesnt cry to this song is cold hearted my friend said when I showed this to him. Its sooo sad when Hazel dies!
.. bright eyes , burning like fire , bright eyes , how can you close and fail how ca a light that burns so brightly suddenly burn so pale .. bright eyes :)
this song always brings a tear to my eye xx my dad used to read the books to me when i was little but i never really understood them but now that i do i love this song ... its so sad :( .. but beautiful :)

Wonderful! *sniffs* The scene when Hazel just laid down and died to find rest and followed Elarah ... I loved the movie, it's fantastic. I like the series though.
I did not know this many people could write such wonderful comments, i havn't seen the movie or read the book but it looks like an amasing movie. the blood scares me alot though... wonderful song.
It's a very good book, and a very good movie as well. I was glad the film didn't pull any punches when it came to the political aspects of the story, as well as the violence. It was pretty intense seeing rabbits ripping each other to shreds as a kid when I first saw this. I read the book years later and then rewatched the film and enjoyed it even more.
I was 4 when this movie was made and even though I didn't know what it was about back then or what the lyrics meant, Bright Eyes became my favorite song. Smehow I memorized the words and when I couldn't sleep, I would sing myself to sleep. To me the song was more like a lullabye than anything. Parts of the movie scared the daylights out of me (still does even though I've seen the movie quite a few times.) I still cry everytime the rabbits fight, when Hazel dies or any animal dies in the movies.
You did a lovely job with the editing, and it's a wonderful song/film. I just want to say, though, that this is one Paul Simon had nothing to do with (as far as I know, Simon and Garfunkel sometimes did backup on each other's solos)

I used to watch this when i was a kid, it scared me to death and was clearly made by someone on LSD, what baffles me is how do you make a film about bunnies without mass shagging sessions?
One of my favorite films,.....with a very beautiful song to go along with it. The part where Fiver is looking for Hazel after he was shot and the death of Hazel always made me cry.
I remember when this song stayed at no.1 for six weeks. Typically in USA it did`nt even chart which is not surprising since the americans would`nt know a good song if they heard one.
this song was played at my brothers funeral he was just 7 when he died and when i hear this song i cry and it reminds me off him sitting in front of the tele watching the movie over and over again never gettin bored off it
@SmithyBoyOllie dam..... i remeber watching this film as a kid , not long after some fucking twat poisned my dog , he died , this was his song , totallaly inncomaparable to your brother , however non the less a deep love lost at a time , a song that brings 2 hearts together , rip ur brother
@SmithyBoyOllie Very sorry to hear of your brother. My brother died at 21 in an automobile accident in 1994. This is a Lovely song that tugs at your heart!
@SmithyBoyOllie sorry to hear about your brother. i lost my mom 2 yrs ago to cancer, she was from england and this movie reminds me of her. i remember being a kid and seeing this. in my 30s now, it brings back a nostalgic feel. i forgot all about this movie, god it brings back such memories. i understand your loss, i suffer everyday and think about my mother everyday. seems like this movie reminds others of the people they loved and lost , strange. gets me teared up.

I saw this movie in 1978, and i have some doubts if i must show it to my kids
They love rabbits very much and won't like the death of one of them.
But , nevertheless, it contains also many things that happen in real life, so it will teach them more than just misery..
I thought of it as a very beautiful, but sad movie, because i expected a happy end.
Now i know better.

I remember when this song stayed at no.1 for six weeks. Typically in USA it did`nt even chart which is not surprising since the americans would`nt know a good song if they heard one.
