I just got a Shakespeare's Catch More Fish Catfish combo for 45 dollars and it's a 2 piece 7 ft rod. Do you think it will do good for catfish up to 50 pounds?

So is channel all you guys go for? Or do you go for blue and flathead sometimes? In my opinion I think the later two put up better fights. Nice vids tho and good practice with the catch and release. Means worlds to little kids to catch a big one

does the length of the rod realy depend on how big of a fish it will hold cause im looking at a medium heavy action 6 feet ugly stik for around 30 pounders

@fishinky365 perhaps - the longer rods take a lot more shock when using lighter line. longer rods cast better in my opinion - i'd go with at least a 7ft rod unless your just drift fishing in a boat then 6 would do

funny thing about fishin in the the ame spot on a dead channel is that they probably hook the same cats several times which is totally gay and boring! i would bring a barb b q and some beers.

@LippinSmallmouth I have one that I use for catfishing currently. It's a great reel. I'd go with the 4000 for catfish. I have a 2500 and it's a bit small. I just purchased a okuma avenger baitfeeder though so I can set my rod down and let the fish take the bait freely before I set the hook.
