yes, they SEEM so easy to return...if they serve long the opponent will be able to return with hard and fast topspins...and with only long services you can´t win matches in worldclass. The variation of spin, speed and placement is the way to win...

thats a good point. but ive played with people who have extremely fast serves and good placement too and its impossible to give a decent return. mabye the pros can but im just saying.

its all about who gets the first attack in... If you can serve a long serve and get a fairly weak return back then fair enough but it is mostly easier to serve short and get a long push back or flick. And the spin on the serve making it hard to touch.

You seem to think that the most important factor about serves is speed. That is hardly the case at all. The most important factor by far is the (disguised) spin and the eventual placement. They are a complete nightmare to return.

I remember converting from fast serves to short spinning serves when a tough player gave me some advice: "long fast serves that are similar to loops are the easiest to loop back. with short serves, your opponent needs to do some weird reach just to get to the ball."

while playing him, the spin on his serves kept making the ball roll downward off my racquet, I couldn't even chop'em back...

these pros can return serves "easily" because they're pros.

you can't really say tennis is harder than table tennis or vice versa since it really is almost the same except one sport requires a different strength while the other doesnt have that strength and vice versa. for ex. tennis you must need more stamina and footwork while pingpong you need eve more of a faster reflex and accuracy. don't need muscles to play tennis it's all in the technique and accuracy for the power.

Table tennis is hard to hit the ball further, because in tennis the ball is heavy so i can fly longer, but a ping pong ball is light and hallow(most of them are) so it can't get much air without proper technique and power.

It's right that table tennis doesn't challenge your condition but if you would compare the muscles of boll and federer you'd realize that power is as important as in tennis. also there's something called spin which is more important than you'd think ( I play both on a pretty high level )

it's true tennis requires more muscle and stamina, but ping pong takes far more precision and technique. with the right technique, distance, and angle, you can hit just as hard as in tennis, so w/o muscles is bs. there are bodybuilders who play ping pong and can't get past a us rating of 2100. this is a smart man's game that began way before tennis
