the reason for the gear reduction is because of the two speed rear axle when ya flip the switch to switch the gear ratio in the rear axle to low you also need to have a way to change the speedometer reading to keep it correct because if ya didn't have the gear reduction for the speedometer when ya put the rear axle in low your speedometer reading would be wrong and way out of wack lol
