  • What is its "race"?

  • imagine finding tht in ur house x.x

  • @song656565 They are always outside my window here in Australia.

They're in plague proportions in some places so finding them in your garage isn't all that uncommon. They can't hurt you but they carry a lot of diseases.

  • I want one as a pet. How often will you be able to tell your friends that you have a pet Flying Fox Bat?

  • MANBAT

  • whats the differenec between flying foxes and bats?

  • @charicebiggestfan Their heads (they have a dog/fox like head), their use of senses (as said in the video) and the fact that they are not predators but herbivores, they mostly eat fruit. :)

  • I have to agree that the enclosure is horribly designed and became my immediate disgust with the Columbus Zoo. If your a Zookeeper with the Columbus Zoo, please contact the Topeka Zoo for a great idea that gives the bat a better environment and patrons a better experience.

  • Is there something wrong with it?

  • So there's Dracula.

  • WARNING: Some african flying fox/dogs (3 species look on wikipedia) carry the deathly virus ebola this will give horrible bleedings from all holes it can get out and within a week you will be DEATH. So if you ever go see some flying dogs in parks you can touch or whatever ask wich specie it is!!

This is just an autistic warning so dont reply me.........

  • @marlb0r015 What?

  • @marlb0r015 I think only if you eat it does it cause ebola.

  • i wish i had feet like that.... then i would be so happy...

  • @JessicaAsskick me too. animal feet are so amazing, much more than human feet! :)

  • I believe bats like dark places. That cage is full of light.

  • @MrKryptoknight Flying foxes sleep in trees, not caves, so they are used to light places.

  • Batman's real !

  • Dear Mothe Nature, you've all my respect but tell me: why did you create such an horrible animal??

  • @normanhate How is he horrible? Hes awsome.

  • The poor thing. It should be roaming the skies over some jungle, covering the place with its poop while making lots of noise. At least give it proper housing to fly around and climb some real branches.

  • Fruitbat :D

  • @craytabs23 fox bat largest bat known to man kind but if u wish for it to be a fruit bat go ahead at least u know its a bat

  • i wish one day you feel what its like to live in captivity for your whole life, bastards

  • @MCJAILBREAKER Do you have any pets?

  • FAAAAAAAAAKKEEEE

  • @monkey42299 Are you kidding me? These bats are amazing! So big, they can eat your head if they wanted to. Their main diet is fruit, though. It just looks fake because the metal isn't as comfortable on their feet as a wooden branch would be.

Plus, they're the only kind of bat that doesn't have a butt-ugly face.

  • no batman jokes?

  • Hard to tell actually how big it is because there is nothing of reference in size to compare it with.

  • @PhillyPugilist just a little bit of a puppy size

  • The Bat is one of the Grey's greatest genetic experiments.

Pterodactyl DNA mixed with Rodent DNA

  • @buffboynick UUgh, Greys scare the shit out of me

  • let it fly!!! wtf lol

  • TWITTER = TheRealSunGod

  • KID: Mom, a monster got in my room!

MOM: What does it look like?

KID: It's a dog but it's got giant claws and wings made out of leather and pitch black eyes, oh, and it walks upside down on the ceiling.

MOM: ::slaps kid:: Get your ass back to bed.

  • fake?

  • JAVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does it have hooks attached to it's wings???

  • @Piriathy Those are its thumb claws. The other fingers don't have claws, so they use their thumbs to help them hang.

  • Does this bat ever get to actually fly? The wire fence seems to be causing the bat discomfort. Generally standard diameter wire is not a good idea for animals like this bat. It would be nice to have a representative of the zoo explain why that cage is considered a humane place to keep the bat. As it stands right now, I'm seeing an animal that is poorly cared for by being kept in a beautified cage that is no better than the medieval structures zoos used in the 1950s.

  • There you are edward!

  • @hellokrazys lololol, I almost crapped my pants when I read your comment !

  • LOOK LIKE FLYING DOG.

  • very cute~ > <

  • THIS IS A HORRABLE ENCLOSURE GIVE THIS POOR ANIMAL A REASONAL HOME TO LIVE IN OR SET IT FREE.

  • @Randomwitch1

lol you deserve to be in a cage

  • @Randomwitch1 Shut the fuck up you dumbass. First of all, you cant even see the whole enclosure, this is just a small part of it. Second of all, if you look in the back its not blocked in there, it can go out into the open. So stfu you hippy, that animal is more safe there than in the wild!

  • @Randomwitch1 Are you out of your MIND? First off, it's obviously a well-constructed area, WITH open spaces that thing could EASILY fly in and out of. Chances are this is a zoo somewhere and that bat's wings have been clipped so letting it go wouldn't exactly be an option. Thing'd die in 24 hours. WATCH a video before going hippie on the internet, will ya?

  • @Randomwitch1 You're ignorant. This bat was probably rescued from disease or injury and unfit to live in the wild.

  • @Randomwitch1 How is this a bad enclosure, exactly? It looks like a really big place, with plenty of vegetation, and he does not look deprived. Especially considering that he is in a zoo (a well known zoo, in fact), he is probably a very happy bat. There are much worse places he could be in.

  • @Randomwitch1 it seems to be having a good time...

  • @Randomwitch1 yea so it can be hunt down and killed when its free :)

  • @Randomwitch1 Learn to spell before you bitch

  • @Randomwitch1 Was is physically impossible for you to express your opinion without caps lock?

  • @Randomwitch1 Where it can live in a wilderness it wasn't raised to understand how to survive in? Moving it out of a place where it gets regular food and medical care to a place that will probably kill it in a few days?

  • @AlishmcMalish

if the facility was doing its best for the animal then it would prepare it to eventually be released into the wild.

  • @Randomwitch1 That's a horrible bit of spelling...and insanity, as this bat would probably be devoured in seconds if you release it into the wild

  • @Randomwitch1 guive it to bruce wayne ...

  • @Randomwitch1 Trolificationary

  • @Randomwitch1 Which idiots upvoted your dumb ass? First off like BoredomPie stated, you can't even see the entire enclosure. Secondly most Bats like these are rescues that were injured and can't survive in the wild so they use them to educate people on how important bats are to our ecosystem and all the good they do. Lastly, WRITING IN ALL CAPS MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A RETARD. You would benefit to actually know what you are talking about before you speak.

  • It looks like General Grievous from Star Wars... crossed with a chihuahua

  • WOW I NEVER SEEN A BAT THIS BIG I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ONE FOR A PET

  • My mom eats these.

  • duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn bat mannnn

  • I Choose You, Crobat!

  • That thing is almost the size of a man, i'd be frickin terrified if i saw one of those unwarned

  • Who else thinks this thing is adorable and kinda cool?

  • @TheZacula I do! Compared to the other bat faces, this is guy isn't ugly :)

  • @TheZacula Me! These are one of my favorite animals. :)

  • hey guys...i found the boss, where's the grenade launcher?

  • the bat is georgeous look at the face it has the face of a dog, like a jack russel terrior..i never knew they have such a beauitiful head, puppy like...

  • @Mygrandmasingsgreat I think you should get your eyes checked...

  • That poor thing, all the kids yelling must be making him deaf!

  • Bats frighten me, it's time my enemies shared my dread.

  • That's kinda cute. There is a theory stating this specific species came from monkeys at some point. I think this looks like lemurs and primates like them.

  • @ivaneduardo747 That's not exactly how it works. You're closing in on the right idea, but a single species of bat cannot be descended from a completely different Order. So I think what you mean to say might be paraphrased as 'bats and lemurs (prosimians) probably shared a common ancestor. " Just a compulsive edit from an ecologist in training.

  • It's not even bigger than my computer screen... :P

  • wow thats a big ol bat very cool looking. thanks for posting the video...ralph

  • I'd brick it if I saw one of these in my garden.

  • Muito massa morcego é um animal incrivel.

  • Dear Santa...

  • @XzKlowNzX LOL XD

  • I think Batman was based off of this bat. Cause it's huge

  • it's NOT a "bat".

  • @ratcrib Yes it is

  • @ratcrib Then what is it, OH MIGHTY ENLIGHTENED GENIUS?

  • @ratcrib Flying Fox: Bats of the genus Pteropus, belonging to the megabat or Megachiroptera sub-order, are the largest bats in the world. They are commonly known as the Fruit Bats or Flying Foxes among other numerous colloquial names.

  • I saw them again in Singapore Zoo this week, where they literally fly inches from your head. These animals are gorgeous!

  • im freaking scarry

  • omg FRIKKN METRO 2033!!!! REAL LEIF GUIZE OMG!!!

  • i would shit my pants if i saw this

  • reminds me on Black Pitch.

  • where's Ozzie??

  • Cool looking animal.

  • a wild crobat appeared..

  • Its gotta be all those steroid infested cows & people...:)

  • i wanted to see him fly :(

  • pour animal :( i bet he'd love to just fly around,but he can't:(

  • Flying Fox is also know as Fruit bats. they are harmless to humans as well as other animals when not in danger. and besides at is also cute especially the young ones

  • I find this creature adorable as well. Actually aside from the paranormal scare of bats carrying rabies (dogs are just as likely to carry rabies, and in fact more wild dogs carry proportionally more rabies that wild bats), bats are such helpful critters to the environment - keeping crops from insect overload, pollination... ect)

  • I always get worried about these animals that have extremely well developed ears.

Since zoos are always full of dumb little kids that don't know the first thing about manners, they, as you could hear in this video, speak loudly like little cretins, and the sound of all their voices echoes and reverberates off the walls to create an even more exacerbated sound that these animals with their sensitive ears have to listen to all day every day. It makes me wonder how often they suffer headaches.

  • @Emidretrauqe microbats have bad vision and use hearing to get around. megabats like this flying fox doesn't do that and has good vision

  • ok wheres that things coffin? loloz

  • Am i the only one who thinks it looks like a hyena?

  • Poor thing. Having to be kept there with screaming people around you all day. O.o

  • Hey, does he fetch? He looks like he wants to play! : )

  • DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY!!!

  • If castlevania has thought me one thing, then I must bring out the holy water and collect a bit of hearts.

  • That's one big-ass Zubat...

  • that thing looks so badass and adorable at the same time!!!!!!!!!

  • Why did i look this up? Im home alone, theres a bat that got in the house somewhere, and i have a bat phobia. Im not getting any sleep tonight.

  • @ThePurpleNinja161 what kind of bat is it becuse if it is a fruit bat its harmless

  • @LiaLPS101 Well i know its harmless...but gah!

  • chihuahua with wings lol awww cuuuteee!!

  • looks like my ex-wife

  • CHUPACABRAS

  • They're very cute.

  • Wheres its healthbar?

  • Release that animal please !!!!

  • Omg he is gorgeous!! I'm assuming it's a he. Can't tell from a vid. Lol. I love working with animal rescue, etc. Not too long ago a local rescue group had a baby bat that had been wounded. People should NEVER be afraid of bats. They are usually more afraid of us. They are so sweet and fuzzy!!

  • @WickedSexyLette They are sweet until they beat you and transmit you rabies..

  • @TheReolus Wow. Someone doesn't know too much do they?

  • @WickedSexyLette Bats do transmit rabies. Prove me wrong. -.- You are smart.

Now you will tell me that this aren't real bats, I know.

  • @TheReolus I didn't say they don't. Yes, some do. You know like wild ones? And it's actually rather rare. I will tell you this aren't real bats? That doesn't even make sense.

  • bats should be able to fly and this one will never fly agian.

he will spend the rest of his life climbing around on metal grading.

probly be better off if he dies soon,,then maybe he will be free.

what a sucky life for a bat

  • Thats no bat! that some dog head stuck on some ptredonton!

  • " I'm Batman"

  • Awwww so cute ^^

  • It's a fact that flying fox isn't a bat.

Unlike bats flying fox can see perfectly durning the day and when they fly they use eyesight instead of hearing.

  • @zvk93 Its actually a megabat, and are also called Fruit bats. It is a bat.

  • @zvk93 I like to call them Pteropods, instead of bats.

    He's the cutest.

  • @uberandy666 if i had the space I'd have one as a pet, they're so awesome!

  • @uberandy666: No, you're not the only one. The bat is adorable.

  • @uberandy666 nope they are very cute. like a dog with wings

  • OMG his nails !!!!!!
