There is an article about great Konkani singer Henry D'Souza in Daijoworld. Search for "Daiji Dubai Lifetime Achievement Award for 'Katrina' Henry D'Souza" in google
This is a beautiful song...Where is Henry D'Souza now...? I keep going to Basrikatte every year. That's a beautiful small town..its a on hill top ...with one street...People at Basrikatte still remember Henry..but his family members are not available at that place now.
For your kind information Basrikatte is not a small town of Goa.Henry D'Souza was born in Basrikatte in Chikmagalur district near Kalasa.Basrikatte is in Malenadu area which is in between of Horanadu and Shringeri. I have been visiting this place very often because my close relatives are staying there.Basrikatte is not a small town of Goa.Please correct this wrong information.
Thanks for the comment. As you see from the description, information was referenced from Google. I am neither Indian or have ever been to India, so I have no clue as to where these towns are. If you see the comment thread there is conflicting information. I am afraid I have to appreciate the song for its musical value much more than where these towns are situated!
Listening to this song after perhaps 34 years! The last time I heard it was during my IIT days in Kharagpur, and I heard it only once or twice either on SLBC or from one of my Sri Lankan friends. But the tune has stuck in my head all these years! I don't understand Konkan or Sinhalese, but this song is really good. Thank you for uploading.
An evergreen song sung by Helen DCruz and Henry D Souza. Helen DCruz hails from Mangalore .And she happens to me my mother in law . :) Lovely lady - of great faith, full of wit, humor, intelligent and with a compassionate heart for the poor and needy. Navaz
Thanks for the comment and information. Helen has a great voice. I enjoyed this song immensely as teenager growing up in Sri Lanka. Pl. convey my sincere thanks to your mother in law for all the joy, rendered with her music.
There is a mention that Henry D'Souza, the popular Konkani singer, "was born in Bassrikatte, a small town in Goa". But I haven't come across this place so far... anywhere in Goa. Does anyone know about it, please? Thanks.
Hmmm.. Interesting!! Information was researched from canaraworld's web site, which states:-
"Shri Henry D’Souza, the prince and hero of Mother Konkani was born at Bassrikatte, near Koppa, a small town nestled amidst the beautiful and picturesque Western Ghats well known for their natural beauty".
View !! thats a looooooooooong time ago, its a pleasure to have met Helen in Kuwait me being their old friend of Evonne, Fiona and Colin - Nice to hear Helen after many years - the last i heard the original was in 1973 when i came from kuwait on vacation then i was so small yet it was not forgotten the lovely tune.Cheers Helen and Henry>>>>!!!!!

So proud of you as a Sri Lankan mate....
Hello Jude: I have saved this song to my favourites and still listening to it. Its amazing how good one feels inside to go down memory lane. Takes me back to happy childhood days when there were less complications in our lives and all we cared was going to school and listening to the current favourite songs in English and Konkani. I had been searching for this tune on You Tube for a long time. Thanks once again
Thanks for the lovely comment. I couldn't agree more with you, and you are absolutely right about the simple life we had with just the school and radio. This is what I too enjoy the most about these songs. Those were the days. We were very happy with the little we had, and I don't think it is the same for current generation although they have many other influences.
There were two versions of this. One by Luke Henricus and the other by Desmond and Indrani Perera. I think I have them. Will share when I get some time.
Thanks for the comment and correction. I read that he was born in Bassrikatte and studied and brought up in Mangalore, so it could be wrong information then.
