I think, according to the website I looked at, Robbie used a Maestro Fuzz tone on some things but he did play mostly without effects. I did read somewhere that he had P90's on his SG at some point. There are ALOT of variables that dictate the tone of a particular guitarist. The amp being a big one. I use a Fender hot rod deluxe and also a smaller Vibrolux champ. Both tube amps. I don't know any DOORS tunes but I suppose I could learn one.
Would you do some Doors song?Robby Krieger used an SG and some sort of fender amp and I was just wondering what the tone simialarities would be because he didn't really use any effects.
Wow I always thought the standards were one of the best. Well this little guitar is fine for the stuff I do. Depends on your style. I like fusion jazzy bluesy stuff. This guitar has the nice fat tone I like with just the right amount of treble and BITE. What dont you like about the stock pickups in your guitar? Well you could always drop a set of classic '57's in there if you are RICH! Actually P90's sound GREAT in SG's.
I have a SG standard an am not at all happy about gibson's pickups. So I perhaps will change them for SD Jazz and Beck, but I'm afraid that won't be SG any more. And I have never seen SD pickups in covers only open and that could spoil Gibson's look. BTW fine playing ! Greetings
