I can tell you straight up how to fix that...you need to increase the hardware buffer on your sound card. That will prevent the breakups and cracks. On a Mac with Core Audio, I have no idea how to do this...
Also, this crackling and popping you are hearing is called Latency. It happens when you have a shitty CPU / RAM / audio card combo. I think video card might play into it a little bit too.
@DuffanyHero This comment is 4 months old, but I just couldn't hold my tongue. The popping and crackling is actually buffer underruns. It happens when your computer's hardware is being taxed too much. Latency, which you mentioned, can be adjusted to fix the underruns, but latency is just essentially the amount of time between when you hit a key/button and when the computer actually receives it and triggers a sample/whatever. I think somewhere around 12 milliseconds is the desirable latency.
dude what piano plugin are you using? i use Akoustik piano but lately i've been a little dissatisfied with it; it wasn't sampled very meticulously in certain areas
I use the same program and plugs, I know frustrating it can get. The ezdrummer and the amplitube are very heavy drains on the cpu, also any reverb can be also. What I would do is bounce down a few of the tracks. If you right click on them you can render to a new take, and then bypass the fx button. That way it saves process power and keeps all the settings and the original track there if you ever want to change anything. Just doing bass and keys should free up enough help. Hope that helps.
@bluntside69 Did you have any success resolving this? My friend is having the same issue, and I'm trying to convince him (not very successfully) to use Reaper. I can't tell in the video, what is the CPU at in the Perf. monitor?
@bluntside69 You need to get a better computer man. Plugins that use a lot of RAM shouldn't be used in conjunction with other plugins that use a lot of RAM unless you have more than 2GB of it. Get at least a processor that runs at least 2.53 GhZ and at least 4 GB of RAM.
adjust the buffer size in audio device options. can take awhile to 'tune' it. also watch other processes running on your computer.

go to the reaper forum.

Get a soundcard. I use the MAudio Fast Track Pro and it works great.

@bluntside69 Cool track BTW. Love the little piano flourishes.
