to the people that believe Mick Thomson, or Jimmy Hendrix what you have to understand is that there seems to be some sort of war going on between artists that play different styles of a single genre or a different genre altogether for fuck sake, you people do not realize this but Angus Young, Jimmy Hendrix, Frank Zappa, they're all different styles of genre or different genre and when it comes to that you have to realize certain people are kings and gods of different genre and styles.
@andrewcairns11 Angus Young is the god of Rock N Roll as well as Hard Rock, but I can say Slash gets advantage in the Blues Rock, but Slash know as one of the greatest guitarist out of many, learned after Angus Young, and Angus Young learned after many other great guitarists before playing with AC/DC. learn people. it's about who better at the certain style of a genre or a genre itself, AC/DC are obviously unbeatable at Rock N Roll and Hard Rock, Slash is unbeatable at Blues Rock. get the idea??
There's room in the rock world for everybody to make a place for themselves. Where I come from we respect each other and feel that we are in a brotherhood. All helping to carry the Rock n Roll banner. All these bands have an audience which in the end adds up to the fact that if they really sucked...They wouldn't have an audience, wouldn't sell records and wouldn't sell out concert halls. :)
That's actually an SG Junior he's playing in this video. '61 I believe. My best friend had the same exact model. It's got 1 p90 PU in it. Really nice sound.
@Asakura834 Let there be rock. When Bon was still alive (now 32 years ago RIP), Bon used to take Angus on his shoulders and carry him around playing the solo in concert. It could last for 10 minutes.
Ruined, at 1:55... by Brian Johnson's voice. Just like every other AC/DC song he's every sang, live or in the studio.
I don't say 'Bon Scott forever!!' to be a retarded, 'true-blue' fan boy of the 'good ol' days'... I say I have hated Brian's voice from the very first note I ever heard come out of his awful, raspy blow-hole.
you know the thing about Angus is , aside from playing the guitar, his on-stage antics are so entertaining ..would be boring if he just stood there playing .
one question I'd ask would be where he (angus) got that scratching-the-pick-across-the-strings-thing from, he does it in nearly every single ac/dc song, at least during live performances..
@OldMusicftw yes they do, in fact from my many years of studying and playing the guitar with practice the pick slide used by many artists including Angus Young is a very useful technique it basically combines a power slide and guitar scratches at the same harmonic level of each other giving it a powerful pick slide or as Angus Young calls the the PPS (Plectrum Power slide). if an of this made sense to you bro :)
When you have written the worlds second highest selling record of all time (Back in Black 50m +) that pretty much beats whether you can manage a sweep arpegio or not! Its all about the track not the technical input. Compare how many records someone like malmsteen has sold.
@proenergis It doesn't matter how many records someone has sold, it's all about where their heart is and how passionate they are about their music. Angus beats anybody at that, he's always stayed true to himself and his music and more importantly, he's not a sell-out like a lot of guitarists in major rock bands! Music>Money
@proenergis If sales figures were an accurate measure of quality, then Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" is better than any album by Queen... I do hope you agree that that isn't the case.
Back in Black trumps Malmsteen because of quality song writing, not it's chart figures ^_^
@th3Invincible They've always been neck-and-neck and Back In Black has been ahead for the most part, also keep in mind that Dark Side Of The Moon was released 7 years before Back In Black came out.
@ibanezbloke technically yes. she is both creative, classical trained, obviously insane (eccentric at the least), has a GIGANTIC audience, and respectable catalogue of music regardless of what music snobs think. i love black sabbath, but have NOTHING against lady gaga. a TRUE musician and an actual inspiration to people, unlike these x factor types.
@proenergis Erh? Being a good musician and making good music is all about selling records huh? By that logic people like Jimmy Hendrix, Robben Ford, Miles Davis, B.B King, Keith Jarrett and John Mayor really have nothing on great musicians like Madonna, Backstreet Boys and even Justin Bieber (if you regard how long they've been active).
@buugiman78 That is clearly not the case and it wasnt the point I was making. I was merely attempting to address negative comments made about his technical ability as a guitarist.
@proenergis Well, that WAS the point you made. You said: "Compare how many records someone like malmsteen has sold", which can't be understood in any other way than that you regard number of records sold as a marker of musical quality. You know people can't read your mind. The point you were trying to make is not a difficult one to make. Just say that you don't have to play lightning fast complicated licks in order to make good music or be a good musician. There you go.
@proenergis And yeah I totally agree. I think malsteem is very versed in his theory and knows his scales inside and out and can play very well but I'd much rather lsiten to Jimmy Page for example because his improvs and riffs are just fucking amazing.
@DudeWheresMySandwich Malcolm and Angus write the songs together along with Brian Johnson, how do I know because I asked Malcolm if writes the songs and he's like "no I write them with Angus and Brian, it was the same when Bon was here"
@andrewcairns11 yeah, he's pretty cool but i think you are the total fan b/c whilst being a very good guitarist he has never made that leap to being "godlike"...that's reserved for the likes of SRV for instance...but yeah, Angus rocks
@zZorgZz yes but they're both different style of the genre or whatever, Angus Young is the god along with the rest of AC/DC they recreated Rock N Roll in a more powerful and raw way.
@andrewcairns11 You can thank Frank Zappa for songs like Highway To Hell didn't get censored and can still air on the radio today. And Frank Zappa didn't try to recreate anything. He was so far ahead of his time that we are still learning from his music today. And that is rock, country, electronica, jazz and whatever.
@zZorgZz Frank Zappa is into genre like Progressive rock, experimental rock, jazz fusion, art rock, avant-garde, classical, Comedy rock, where as AC/DC are into pure raw powerful Rock N Roll/Hard Rock, they're both different genre's you don't know who's better unless they would either play the same genre or at least battle it out on a certain genre, so I don't know atm I believe Angus Young learned after Frank Zappa which is why he might be so good,
@RKBM182 yes but they both play different genre's comparing a metalist to a rocker is not right, Angus is the god of rock guitar and all of the rock guitar
Angus is one of the best guitarists of all time. (Let's not forget his brother Malcolm who gives Angus all of the rhythm space so he can crank out those amazing leads).
Angus is a great guitar player, but the band he's in is the most overplayed band since.. ever. It's like the filler radio stations buy when they have nothing else to play.
если сидеть и смотреть на этого человека не зная кем он является - я никогда не поверил бы что он собирает стадионы фанатов , армия поклонников во всём мире....
he could compensate by ordering up a Musicman with a smaller fretboard. the SG sound is signature tho. its got that crunch that make his rhythm playing unique.
Saw these guys waaaaay back in Glasgow, Scotland with Bon Scott at the Apollo. About 6 months later Bon was gone.. Great rock band. The rythm that drives them between drum and guitars is outstanding. Comes over as a straight ahead guy with no big ego as a guitar player. Must be that Scots upbringing : )
I started playing in 93. My first real guitar was a 61SG reissue I paid $600 for. Got into Kiss, then traded it for a baby blue Les Paul Custom with a Floyd Rose. Major facepalm moment in hindsight.
@oddbarrows Sure , but it is not about technical sides that makes music great , something simple can sound ten times better , look at it as an sleek looking ferrari opposed to an overdone import , in my opinion it is the simpleness of some guitarists wich makes them genius !

If the example was a charger or boss 302 I'd have went along, but no.
the thing is - those guys are not great because of their guitar skill - they are great because of their personalities and musicianship. these steve vai fellow is a high-class guitarist yet not a good musician

paul mccartney is not any of a remarkable guitarist yet he is a genious musician!! (super bass player also, but still makes a lot of songs on the guitar)
what i see of angus here is that he is not a super great guitarist you would like to listen when he is alone with no band but he is a great musician in his musical style having written these classic songs and that earned him his fame and legendary status
@KingCrimson82 lol I am pretty positive that Angus Young headbanged throughout his whole career...I have seen live concerts where you cannot even see his face since he is headbanging so hard...well away with this headbanging talk it was just a simple comment lol
All you need to now about Angus is that he was part of the creation of AC/DC's best album - Back in Black. You won't find any guitar solo that rock harder than those.
to the people that believe Mick Thomson, or Jimmy Hendrix what you have to understand is that there seems to be some sort of war going on between artists that play different styles of a single genre or a different genre altogether for fuck sake, you people do not realize this but Angus Young, Jimmy Hendrix, Frank Zappa, they're all different styles of genre or different genre and when it comes to that you have to realize certain people are kings and gods of different genre and styles.

@KingCrimson82 lol I am pretty positive that Angus Young headbanged throughout his whole career...I have seen live concerts where you cannot even see his face since he is headbanging so hard...well away with this headbanging talk it was just a simple comment lol

YOU KNOW? yeah i know

All you need to now about Angus is that he was part of the creation of AC/DC's best album - Back in Black. You won't find any guitar solo that rock harder than those.
