* Note: Everything is completely consistent with Objectivist Values up until 5:42, its here where hard earned intellectual money gets thrown into the mixed-premise-economy trap. If you took the time to ask you'd find few, if any, of those vendors understand Capitalism.
result?: Bill&Melinda Gates Syndrome
Not worthy of note, sxcept that you have a circle of struggling artists and educators around you with 100% consistent Objectivist values.
I don't think it is necessary for the person who created something to understand Objectivism or the virtue of Capitalism. Its their sense of life that is important. As an example: Ayn Rand liked Roots, though suspected that the author's intended meaning was different from her interpretation, and rejected what she suspected was his intended meaning.
Hey Paul, glad to hear your response- it tells me what stage you're at. If you ever wonder why something as self-evident as the advocacy of Reason as man's primary tool of knowledge has such a difficult time of it, you'll discover it by revisiting Atlas Shrugged and seeing the heroic but futile struggles of Hank Rearden & Dagny Taggart.
Miss Rand even used that term after HUAC, remember?- 'futile'
* Act - Motive - Intent ... Consequences. *
100% consistent philosophy has to be 100% consistent.
you think taxation is bad in canada? try living in sweden or belgium. i study full time and work part time, and they still take 30%. never mind all the fees they take from my employer i.e. take form me.
the mommy-state does grant me a grand total of ~65$ a week as "housing support".
whats worse is i would like to work more, but if i make much more, i lose my "housing support". im incentivised to NOT work.
absurd.
cant wait till i get my engineering degree so i can make 1000$ a day :)
Now, ya see, that's the difference between intrincism and Objectivism. You are asserting that you are a value, as a metaphysical fact true for all. Objectivism asks: "Is Drillinstructor179 a value to ME?".
"Wow, a thousand dollars in one day? I'm beginning to understand why so many people go into law."
He-he, a female neighbour in my building makes roughly $1000 per day, putting in her time at a local strip club! :-) (Not to say lawyers have anything to do with strippers.)
Love it!

I have little assessment of either. Both have said things with which I agree, and things with which I disagree.

I really like your videos. I bought myself a bottle of fresh water to celebrate Reasons Harvest, it felt good.
I also like the ending in the video "Freedom", thats all we want.

Paul,
I am a human value. You give money to human values. Ergo, give me money.

I could see the CN Tower and Rogers Centre from my air plane window flying south of the lake over Rochester. That surprised me.
